Me too, I just wish I could figure out the wars better. Civ 4 always felt a little clunky to me, but Civ 5 was an improvement, in my opinion. Godus update v2.0.2 fixed some things, but we're still waiting for them to fix the Voyages/Sticker grind. I'm refusing to play any more until they do.

Me too, I just wish I could figure out the wars better. It's easy once you get them to stick the pointy end in the other guys. But I normally go for cultural victories because I am pretty crap at battles :-)

Civ 5 was pretty awful when it came out, but several paid expansions later, I'm happy with it. "Pay for us to fix our game" apparently sometimes works, go figure. Godus keeps updating in Steam. I keep looking at it and then playing something else. Like Spelunky. Or FTL. FTL released a free expansion, my god it's awesome. I wonder if Molyneux should take a leaf from their book, "How to do indy games right".

...Godus keeps updating in Steam. I keep looking at it and then playing something else... Ha ha! I just described a "how to get maximum enjoyment playing Godus" video to my daughter. It is a silent art piece <screen shows Godus load screen.> <screen shows Godus tutorial telling you to click rock.> <mouse moves to and clicks X in to upper right of screen.> <nothing changes.> (for those who wisely stopped playing before last patch, you can no longer exit the game without a 3 finger salute and killing the process. ) <task manager loads and mouse moves to, selects Godus process, and then moves and clicks kill, then confirms.> <screen shows Civ V load screen> <fade to black>

Why Civ V? Wouldn't a God game instead of Godus more fitting?

yes, please name one ( with multiplayer) released in the past 10 years that I can go grab it.
civ V is a good game, and on a level Godus could have achieved had the kickstarter design plan been followed rather than the social casual fruitpad design they went with.
Black and white still needs work as net play crashes often. B&W2 was a "nope" because "multiplayer soon, promise!" was 100% certain to be a lie. (foolishly I blamed the production house and not the dev. team.)

Dude, I think lube is a little bit off topic for this thread. Make a new one in the whatever section.

That graph is hideously unfair to starcraft (unless its for protoss hue hue). Dwarf fortress is a good game, but it's just very hard to get that involved with when the visuals are so abstract from the story. I appreciate that games aren't all about the graphics, but with dwarf fortress, unless you get extremely involved you can't tell what is going on, and that is a shame. For a (what hopefully will be) dwarf fortress style game but with a nice graphics system, check out stonehearth.net/. It's another kickstarter, but they have weekly updates & a roadmap and everything.

Unfortunately, Any game that claims to be 'Dwarf Fortress but with graphics' falls far short of the amazing depth that DF gives, to the extent where I'd rather just play DF. As for the graphics being abstract, I would say that they show just enough information on the map screen to be able to build up a picture of what's happening. Combat reports are where it really shines when it comes to filling in all the action that is going on.

Combat reports are where it really shines when it comes to filling in all the action that is going on. Dwarf Fortress does have some rather outstanding depth. Unfortunately, like so many others, I fall prey to the graphics. You're right that they show just enough information to get by, but couple "just enough" with the outstanding difficulty curve of the game and you've got something I just don't have the dedication to learn to play My former house-mate absolutely adores the game, however, and the fortresses he's shown me have been impressive enough that I can see what's going on. Also, you get some awesome stories from playing the game, to the point where a website has been made for them.
