Hi guys, you might have all heard and seen recent bans from Steam's forums. This coincides with the pending release of Godus in China.
Here's the reason I was banned: (can't post pic, as I need to upload it to the web)
=========== You have been banned from Godus Discussions You have been banned from Godus Discussions by a forum moderator for your post in "It's not THAT bad.": Funny how there's an influx of this new posts of "Not that bad" right as the game is about to release in China. Oh and Lester, from your profile I can see that you had a Chinese named handle for your account "先生 Lester Roquefort 先輩:"
For the mods, I've taken a pic of this whole post and will repost it on the pro-boards, send it to RockPaperShotgun, Kotaku and other gaming sites, if it's deleted.
Ban Reason: (This ban is not just for this particular post) For attempting to coerce mods with threats, for arguing with mods, for spamming the forum with the same opinion in many threads, regardless of appropreateness to anyone's judgement but your own, and for the many warnings and other measures you've received previously.
Please review the Discussions Rules and Guidelines.
This is a permanent ban. ===========
I have saved numerous pics of posts I have made in the past, as well as this ban. My goal is to reach out to Kotaku, RockPaperShotgun, and many other gaming websites. Could you all please do the same. Write e-mails to those sites, regarding the latest bans, and the upcoming release in China. I would like as many gaming websites as are willing to do an updated article on 22 cans, what they have accomplished in the last eight months (nothing), and the abuse of their customers. I also will, and if you would do the same, reach out to Steam support with claims of fraud and abuse of moderator privileges.

I will be signing up for pro-boards, so that I can post in other sections.
Another one of my goals is to organize the community and start a lawsuit against 22 cans. How many of you would be willing to join / support the movement.
One idea is to start a Kickstarter, or a similar fund raising project on another site, to raise money for the lawsuit. I would like to reach out to every Kickstarter and Steam Early Access customer, to get an opinion and see if we can gauge how much funds we would be able to raise.
Any thoughts and input would be appreciated.

Hi @drake. Welcome to ProBoards.
I have a feeling that most websites will want to hold off on articles until 22cans release a new version of godus. But when they do some of them might be willing to include your plight.

Getting publicity on the gaming websites is just icing on the cake.
I want the end goal to be for this fraud to be taken down from Steam, and for 22cans to pay out damages to all those who had been defrauded.
If we get 10,000 people who were defrauded to donate $10 each, that would be more than enough to get a heavy weight lawyer on the case. Then, we can add Kickstarter and Steam/Valve in the lawsuit, for the culpability and inaction when claims of fraud had been brought to their attention.
Even if in the end Kickstarter and Steam end up not shouldering any of the financial costs for damages payout, it will urge them to not only do something about Godus and 22cans, but it will set a foundation to introduce better safeguards and consumer protection by those businesses.

Since I am the poster of this topic in question, I'd like to state that I was merely stating how I like the game and giving it praise. The fact that I had Chinese letters at one point is simply coincidence and I am not a "sock puppet". I'm also perplexed to your ban as well, honestly.

Welcome Drake, you have now been inducted into the ever growing club of banned fellows, we are no stranger to 22 cans predilection for heavy handed mass bannings, its something they have a propensity towards, as has been extensively documented on this very forum, here is some light reading for you if you want to see how far down the rabbit shit hole this nonsense can go.

I've been enjoying a non-GODUS week or two reading about abstinence from alcohol and working on my blog. But I did go to Steam this morning and I did see your banned status and I did read your post and I thought surely he didn't get banned for that. Now I read your ban message and all I can contribute is to say the explanation is weak.
Saying I've screen captured my post isn't threatening and your post didn't look like spam as it directly addressed the thread in question. I think you came to the wrong conclusions in calling the guy a sock puppet but does it matter? Should you banned for being wrong? You didn't even out and out call him anything just implied that he was part of a conspiracy. As he says himself he was surprised by the ban.
More pointless action by the GODUS mods. Its not like people are queuing up to post on Steam anyway. Most of us gave up on that a long time ago. Average player numbers have dropped 50% since April. steamcharts.com/app/232810

Drake, just create a Kickstarter if you're UK resident. I'll donate to it even despite our dire economic situation. Though I'd be very grateful if campaign was available on 19th - that's around when my pension reaches me.

And Drake, if you want to raise a stink to your ban using my post, go right ahead. I'll have your back on that by simply saying "It was a little strong handed for the context of the post, but Admins gotta do what they do...", but thats it. I like my ability to post on Steam, i don't usually go to forums like this.
But, like i've said, countless times, likely... is that i'm entirely out of any legal action. I'm happy with this $20 "soiled dirt" i bought well after it was in kickstarter, in fact, i'm making an RP OC island using the sculpting in the game and i'm enjoying it.
Look at me funny if you want, but i'm metaphorically making sandcastles (Enjoying the game) and making support pillars out of the dookies (bad reputations of the game) littering the sand. I'm gunna be sad if you take me out of the sandbox (take the game off the store), but i'll go play in the mud then (I'll go play From Dust) and get over it.

@drake, If you do start a kickstarter, and raise some funds, you had best mention that any money which doesn't get used in the legal proceedings, will be donated to some worthy charity, otherwise some may look on this as a potential scam (not saying it is, just that it could come across as such).

Fwiw: as far as raising funds for a potential lawsuit, AFAIK none of the project crowdsourcing websites allow that. It's possible some of the petition or cause sites might be a better venue for such an endeavor.

This makes me think we should make a group here for this... call it something lighthearted and related to steam. Or not, if that's too much like pointing and laughing...

I really recommend joining our game session skype convo, any member who wants can ask another at any time if they want to just play a game. This is, BTW, for any game, if you want to join.... PM your skype handle to me and I shall be happy to add you.
This is entirely just gaming, no sides, both sides of any coin. If you like to play games and meet other members here in voice or text chat ( we don't vid), then come along. We are completely bi-partisan players.
We already have many threads about Steam on here, but feel free if you want, they tend to get toxic at times.

Thank you for the offer, but i tend to get angsty around voice chatters. It's inconvenient, i know, but it's the way i am. I also recoil a little when Skype is mentioned, for some reason...
Fortunately, though, i have 20 or so years of typing behind me. I can actually keep moderate pace with people on mics. -/brag-

Sometimes we just do the text while gaming. Skype just links us all together. Me and a few have played Worms together and we really don't use voice, we just crush each other in worms and text about it here and there in skype. If you are not interested, no stress. Some do, and some don't.

Welp. I sure am glad I'll never be in a real-world position to be judged by Muir or Aynen's self serving ethics. Good grief.

Here's the picture from the ban. imgur.com/nkx6lKdIf anyone wants to, you can post a link and this image in this thread on Steam's forum. steamcommunity.com/app/232810/discussions/6/528398719788422532/In addition, please create a link to this thread on the Steam's Godus forum, so we can organize the community members here. Also, how can we get an e-mail list of all the users who bought Godus via Steam Early Access, and also the ones that Kickstarted it? Does anyone have the time to start going through the message threads to get user names and text them with an invitation? My goal is to organize the community, retain legal advise, get the fund raising started, fund the lawsuit, and go from there.

I will be taking on the part about obtaining legal advise. Within the next two months I will have an answer from the lawyer regarding the initial retainer and how to best approach this.
