"All of this content is available today at no extra cost, no hidden purchases, no surprise transactions." Oh 22cans, it only took a few years to say so...
Of course, the real question is, is this entirely true? =O

I'm a bit busy with American politics right now so I'm going to leave it at that.

I might check it out when I get home. If they keep up like this. I can not fault them much for not talking. I think no false promises are better then a bunch of chatter that no one will believe around here anyway. Build a foundation first then get up on the palpate to preach the Gospel of the new Godus.

It will be interesting to see what depth, if any, the champion adds to the current Godus Wars: GotY Edition. On the surface it appears to be a dull, automated unit so 22cans can lazily "ramp up" the difficulty by throwing more units at you down a line. Just reading the description makes it feel as if the champion unit is a page right out of the DeNA book. Shallow mechanic that's easily monetised. I won't be shocked in the slightest if Godus Wars players are in essence playtesting portions of a mobile game for 22cans. Hopefully I am wrong.

my lol was about "This update brings a whole host of new features and fixes - New units, new lands and new graphics settings!" there's ONE new unit, singular, not plural. Unless they count three styles (one for each god you can play) as multiple units. There's also one new land (with multiple levels), singular, not plural. I haven't checked the graphics settings to see if that plural is accurate or not though I do agree that it is a good sign, I was half expecting it to be silently dropped and never touched again after the negative responses.

They are in godus exactly as they have added them, while being welcome they are a quick fix. I tried playing the first map and guess what it crashed and wouldn't even start

Of course, the real question is, is this entirely true? =O In the land of 22Cans, it is normal to charge customers for each update to an Early Access game. They are being wonderfully generous by letting us have this content FREE OF CHARGE. I say 'content' but as I suspected, they have decided that extra maps = content. Other than that, all we got was a new unit (which I have not tried but from the description sounds like a lazy hack of the ogre unit which already exists in Godus). In the context of Godus Wars, new maps don't really qualify as content. We already have an abundance of boring maps that look, feel and play out exactly the same. Edit: Let me balance this with a positive comment. It's nice that there is finally something to differentiate battles against other deities from battles against unaligned natives.

Yea. I finally looked at the patch notes expecting multiple units and saw only champs. So over all two steps forward on the game one again on the PR front. But for me at least it is still over all a gain. Baby steps 22Cans Baby steps.

Possibly a stupid question, but has anyone played since the update? Any appreciable improvements to stability? Is the new unit at all interesting?
Edit: except Spiderweb who couldn't even get it started.

After 22Cans made a point of deliberately ignoring the last lot of feedback I put together, I don't think I'm going to bother revisiting Godus/Godus Wars until it's out of Early Access.

I played like two maps. Did not run into the champ. had the same stability as before. But I had no problems before.

The water on the globe looks more like proper water now. I've been trying to remember how I modified my save to skip the first continent without much luck, so I haven't bothered to look past that yet.

Simon seems to be so very proud of what they are offering for $15... Maybe he should take a peak at a real PC game one of these days, get his price-points straight.

Sorry to belabour the point, but...
- no extra cost - no hidden purchases - no surprise transactions - ...full list of free features...
Colin has found four ways of saying, in a single update, that the new build is free. I realise people are constantly suspicious of 22Cans sneaking in paywalls, but this reads like there's a realistic and reasonable expectation that updates to an Early Access title might be chargeable. Just when you think the Early Access concept could not be abused any further...

What they have so far offered, and then moved onto continent three after the second was initially behind a paywall, is rather so awful that merely paying attention to it demands a monetary refund of some sort, given the publicity campaign 22cans appear to be trying for. Really, if they're going to be aiming for F2P quality...dammit, I demand the ability to be compensated in some form for diverting my attention away from my devices until the advert is over!

Low hanging fruit there for Early Access guys.
