Popping it, of course. It's so relaxing. It almost nullifies my urge to murder people.

I was thinking more of AM from I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream. Haven't seen that movie, is it good? Is it horror? Coz, then I won't watch it.

It isn't a movie, it's s a book and a quest game written my the same author. Quest is very good, by the way, but the book (a short story) is better.

I've been watching the AMV above and it struck me. The Expansion Sequence in not your typical Henshin or a lousy Gattai with friendship and butterflies as a theme. Just think about it. First, the launch vehicle goes up to the First Cosmic Speed. That's a speed so high that in attempt to safely send a space apparatus up there we killed LOTS of dogs and only by these countless sacrifices with countless hours work and years of failures the Soviet Union achieved the victory in space race (not that saved us from losing the Cold War, but still). Not to mention the G-force, which can kill any astronaut that hasn't trained enough. To continue the theme of First man on orbit, the man chosen, Yuri Gagarin was a top-secret jet fighter test pilot. Of course, he was in such a form vast majority of Terrans can only dream of. And here we have an untrained high school student risking his life to withstand this force even before he will risk his life against alien menace. This time, his enemy is the world itself. Once the rocket reaches its maximum orbit, it opens up and Engine Ordinary.. Stops and uses small propulsion to fight? No! It activates its own engines to accelerate to second cosmic velocity. He gets √2 the G-force, making him almost unable to breathe (a shame they don't show it in the anime). And then all the other parts have to accelerate to the same speed as well. If they don't do that, kinetic force would be devastating and all these things hanging up there would become debris in an instant. What is even cooler, before all of that happens, these girls on Tenkaido, orbital fortress, have to accurately bring all these satellites with parts to the correct, I emphasize, perfectly precise coordinates so the Ordinary. becoming a huge unguidable projectile, would still get inside of this massive structure. That's why this 1-2 minute sequence is the most amazing part of the show, and the coolest thing in whole season. Except falling Landing Castles from Aldnoah Zero (how did they compensate the impact?) and Sailor Moon, which shows yet another way of being cool.

In all these mecha anime, the one thing that I always question is when the boosters retract into the forearm, and then hands emerge; there's literally no realistic physical way that would be possible that I can fathom. I can conceive several other ways it would be more realistically plausible. Other than that, I love the idea of giant mechs.

Well, in Captain Earth Impacters don't use conventional fuel, at least, so the same energy conduits can possibly power both. The problem is where those hands are stored.
