Yes, this is one of "those threads"
I have been quite vocal about what I don't like in Godus, but I do also want to say I don't hate concept of the game, I am just extremely unhappy with many of the core mechanics as they stand today.
I decided to make a thread about what is positive in Godus, but not just now, from the beginning, including things they have changed or removed. Please feel free to add your own thoughts to this and let us hope the DEVS take some of it to heart.
I love the art and think they have done an amazing job. I look forward to seeing more from them as our world progress through time. I used to enjoy the sculpting more, it once was cool to mold the world to look the way I wanted. I like the idea of giving my followers festivals, but I don't having to do it myself, I would much more prefer they went and did it with their own freewill but I still had the ability to stop them at my whim as their god if I chose too. I like the idea of a AI tribe but feel this one is flawed. I prefer to have a choice as a God if my people want to have interaction with the, I also feel that I should have more control over them, since I am a God and they are just people. I think in order for it to make sense, there must be another God ruling them. The pit of doom is somewhat cool, but I should have built it and not have it there on my arrival on this world. The concept of Voyagers could be quite interesting if they involved more puzzle like quests fit for a God. I also want to be rewarded by cool stuff like a school, or medical hut for more people by doing Voyages instead of just more basic game mechanics. I like the fact that there is a possibility of progression of ages, my suggestion is that you speed it up a bit, by this point I would be a grandparent by the time my people can drive cars. I kinda like the storms, they are least change things up a bit from time to time, but I do think it would be awesome if you could show all types of seasons and not just storms. I also think you might like to leave some remnants of storms there, like a puddle from a flood till it dries up , or even some piles of snow, or broken trees.

I like the storms too! They were fun to put together and the sound and the visual are so dramatic! Love em! But I am biased, it is known.

Here are mine. There are a lot of buts.... but I will leave it at that for them as this is a positive thread to help prove we are not all hate hate HATE. I love the art of the game or should say the style at least. I like the looks of the huts and settlements but...... I like seeing the followers out and about doing things, but..... I like that we have the Astari and had the red headed and bearded followers, but...... I liked the battle voyages, but.......

Shaping the world can be fun but I want to create as much as destroy. The game needs a means of adding land to the world to offset the erosion power we have.

I like the storms too! They were fun to put together and the sound and the visual are so dramatic! Love em! I like the storms, but they're a bit too loud and abrupt to my liking. They'd be so much better if there was a foreshadowing as the sky would darken, the wind would pick up and rain would slowly start. Then as the storm is building the potential for damage to the environment would increase and people would have to take shelter. Subsequently they'd have to go out and repair damage to weaker buildings and perhaps remove trees that had fallen over roads or such. Make it less abrupt and more impressive. Also, volume control. The storms are a tad too loud when compared to the rest of the game. As for myself? - I like the art, its sufficient to serve its purpose yet stylish enough to give the game its own character. (I'd request more diversity and options in the future, but it does its job well.)
- Sculpting is a great base mechanic/power as a god. The game should build upon those powers and not be afraid to use them.
I'd love to see a 'base set' of godly powers that are either really cheap or even free to use. And then have more impressive powers that cost belief. This would also allow for a degree of variation and choice as you invest resources into expanding these powers and making them your own.
- The Astari are an interesting start for an AI tribe. They aren't openly hostile, yet they still represent a basic form of adversity.
The mechanic is inherently flawed which I'll attribute to its early stage of development and I wholeheartedly encourage 22cans to expand on this and add additional tribes in the future. - The Pit of Doom is awesome. Balancing is required and most importantly, it needs a counterpoint on the morality scale. But we finally have (part of) a choice to make as a god.
- Voyages in concept are interesting. I'd love to see voyages be used to get somewhere though.
Why is it that our followers go on these voyages? Do they seek new resources? Do they want to contact other people? Do they seek new lands to settle? Do more with voyages instead of less. Don't have them be just a mini-game, a resource dispenser. - The timeline compared to the initial release has progressed nicely. I like the changes as they have been - though I'd suggest one thing specifically. Allow the player to "uncheck" a card that they do not desire.
On top of that, expand the timeline to include more options, perhaps even some that are mutually exclusive. - Followers - Followers are the core of the game. They are what makes us a God. I'd love to see the game do MORE with the followers and not just use them as a resource.
Followers can do so much more than they do now - and I hope that 22cans will recognize this possibility.
- Exploration - Tied in with my previous point, I'd love to see exploration be more of an expedition and less of a "lets build this gigantic campfire" - Have them scout out the land, make 'maps' for your empire and designate worthwhile resource spots. Have this take some time as they mark down the hazards and bountiful areas and then have your followers work from there. Have them do the initial settling and as your area of influence expands around them you can assist them and guide them to greatness.
We're a god - not a groundskeeper.
Let us be a god, and guide our people to greatness. Whether we want to be good, or evil. Whether we want to take up arms or apply diplomacy. Whether we want to scour the land like locusts or tend to it with gentle care. Just give us the tools and we'll sort out the rest. The possibilities should be endless.

Just things I feel have been said over and over. I feel what they have is a good solid base, at least visually. Game play wise, but........ (must keep in happy here ) What the hey for the record I like the looks of the huts and settlements but...... I would like to see the houses upgrade on their own when I get a new card. I think they want to do this or I get the feeling they do. I like seeing the followers out and about doing things, but..... I would like to see people out doing stuff. Even if it is just walking between houses. Or more then one person working a farm, maybe even kid followers out playing might add life to the game. Which reminds me. I liked wolves when they were in, but........ they were removed and I hope they make it back in along with other wild life. Maybe not just have wheat farms but have cattle farms and a farmer goes out and feed them. I like that we have the Astari and had the red headed and bearded followers, but...... The removed the ones you could add to your followers and you can not interbreed with Astari. I liked the idea of Collecting different follower looks. I liked the battle voyages, but....... they removed it. See the thread I will start soon on "What did you imagine the game would be during the kick starter?" on what I expected the game to be lick and what I wanted from the game.

I like the festivals but...........I feel like there is so much more that can be done with this. Have a beer hut and watch a few followers get smashed on fermented coconuts and fall off a cliff if you don't decide to save them. Use this opportunity to add humanity to our followers and some humor to the game.
I like the Pit of doom but............where is my temple for them to pray to me? The Astari have one and all I have is a fountain?
I like the settlements but...........there should be about 10 different kinds. By the time people were about to build ships and sail voyagers there was many many different types of industries besides farming and mining. Please try to be more consistent in your continuity.

Frankly - I don't like the current pathfinding and I truely hope we'll see the day that followers (Astari and otherwise) do not end up randomly on cliffsides and mountaintops after reloading the world.

I like the concept of having music in the background, but I feel I would like it much more if I could choose from 5-6 different ones depending upon my mood. I also think these options should vary greatly in genre. Give me hard rock, pop, classical and the zen like stuff for instance.

I also think these options should vary greatly in genre. Give me hard rock, pop, classical and the zen like stuff for instance. Mute game, run music in background. =P That's what I do. Hm...What I like. Aesthetically (Mostly trying to with non-technical impressions here).
I adore the basic style of Godus, it's really a large part of what drew me in because I like more vibrant, colorful games (e.g. Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, Flower, Bastion, etc.). I dig the subtle sound effects that I suspect some may miss, the sound of the tides, the crickets towards night, the birds during the day. The follower animations (even if looped) in conversation, around the campfires, climbing trees (anyone else notice they don't only climb the palm trees anymore? Also climb some of the, I suppose, deciduous trees), running over to see the newly sculpted land and celebrating your work. The oceans look particularly nice, and the fish are a nice touch to give them some more life, even if confined to very small spots. The day/night changes are also really smooth, and strike a nice balance of avoiding getting too dark to not be able to see what's going on while still pulling off the night-time look. The smoothness of some of the normal life animations are really pretty impressive to me, the tree climbing ones especially. While I joke about beautify, I do or did think the slight texture changes were pretty neat to see. It gave the land an extra little oomph of life to it. The old temple/shrine effects from way back in 1.3 (I think) which pulsed across the ground to the affected abodes was a very cool effect to see. This is a somewhat tiny element, but the inclusion of footprints is cool. Oh and I fucking love the meteorite craters. And I loved flicking people around with the Finger of God. That stuff x1,000,000 (i.e. in other powers) would be amazing. Some basic suggestions: More little details like the rocks at the base of trees, but if possible, have them disappear/fall as the land supporting them is sculpted away. Muffled sound effects for follower conversation (not the obnoxious repetitions we've heard before of buildum/completum/hurrayum, something toned down to make the passing conversations seem closer/more alive). Similar sound effects for the campfires and when they climb trees, but mostly just for when you zoom in. As has been requested before, more wildlife, but with more open movement. The fish, as noted, are nice, but it'd be much nicer to see their animations given more room to swim about. Create the illusion of the group being larger than it is by having it more widely dispersed throughout the water swimming around. If groups of any other wildlife were put in, I'd recommend the same thing. The fish as they are are too obviously a prop. Graphically
This is a hard one to comment on as I feel it should be more technically oriented, but overall, I'd say that the (as far as I can tell) relative stability of framerate is pretty impressive. Other than this, I'm not sure what I can say without having more insight on the details. There are some small details like the rough antialiasing work done or...Seemingly not done in some cases, that I think while somewhat nice in its current state could absolutely use improvement. The procedural landscape shadows are a cool idea and work fairly well in their current state, but definitely need work in regards to their resetting with every sculpting action. I don't know that this falls under graphics (in most options menus I believe it does), but the FOV (I may be mixing my terms up here, so correct me if I'm wrong) can be tricky in a game like this. I think it's been in a relatively good place for awhile, but I'd love to see more flexibility to see more of the world at once. It's hard to comment on the texture work given the style chosen, but I think most of it's reasonably well done for what it's going for. I don't how far you can go into more details without breaking the art direction though. Gameplay
Cannot comment positively. I'll leave it at depth-lacking. Insufficient content to provide effective feedback. Please submit request again when the puddle becomes a greater body of water. Thank you for your time.

...the crickets towards night, the birds during the day... ...Muffled sound effects for follower conversation... Wait what, there's sounds during day and night? ; So, basicly you want a gentle/soft sort of southpark style rabble rabble rabble denoting followers having conversations. Perhaps only if you zoom in on them and have it fade into the background as you zoom out? (Thats something very interesting to begin with, having certain sounds and effects come into or go out of focus as you move around the map and/or zoom into area's.)

It's blended really well into the rest of the game's soundscape so that you hardly notice, which is exactly the way it should be and is brilliant for that. As to the conversation bit, yeah, something like that or like Sims-esque conversation or even the silly filler sounds like in Animal Crossing, and definitely more of a zoom-in thing like I mentioned with the campfires/tree-climbing.

Is it just me or is there a bit of the music that sounds just like the theme for Donkey Kong country on the SNES? It's one of those REALLY good zen like tunes that destresses me as I have no belief, wheat, or ore.
Now that I have looked on YouTube (what ever did I do before YouTube?) I'm not so sure, but it must be in here somewhere I certainly thought it when I heard it in Godus, anyone got a spare hour? Didn't realise the sound track to that game was so long.
Edit: Something like 17.30 f. and 18.36 f. would work really well in Godus, it would be nice if the music was sustained not just 30 second bits.
Post edit: I think my SNES is in the attic somewhere....
Post Post edit: 1'01.03 for the voyages would liven things up!

My wife and I are mostly hopeful for Godus, but wary of the past. There are many good things both of us can say about the art, design, and potential of the game but we both certainly agree it isn't there yet and find it a drastically sad turn of events that F2P has effected it so drastically. Looking forward to the PC sprint where I expect most of the PC-centric promises will be fulfilled.
Things I like about Godus:
Gmr finding Beards/Swords/Backpacks while snooping around the files. The animations (seems like quite a bit of care and work went into these). The ambient sound-scape (not a huge fan of the Despicable Me minions). The color palette and tone of the world. The smooth, flowing art design (wife likes the pretty water).
