Ok, anyone care to explain to me the reasoning behind this, who thought this was a good idea? In what gaming world is it ok to put your players through hours of torture gathering resources, waiting through hours (and days) of timers, and fighting a terribly imbalanced and overtly punishing adversarial mechanic (happiness & Astari), all while trying to be able to "repair" an expansion beacon... only to find that that beacon only expands the world to another expansion beacon? NOTHING ELSE!?! [why didn't you warn me about this, Danjal? lol ] That's nuts. That preposterous. That's insane. Do you WANT players to hate the game - and, by proxy, the developers? Is there some reason you're actually actively trying to fail? This isn't clever. This isn't a hard earned reward. This is a joke. This is mockery. It's crap design and you know it. THAT is Godus - senseless, unreasonable, exhaustive, almost-enjoyable but not, punishing gameplay because... uh, bullshit reasons! C'mon. Be better than this. It's embarrassing. (I know you can do it!)

13thGeneral, clearly you're missing all the glorious content on the beginning island. Don't want you to be getting in too much of a rush and miss it, you know?

This? This has been in the game for so long now... I can't even remember when it was first added. For as long as this island structure has existed (before, the second island had the volcano) its been like this.
Only now you need ore to rebuild the beacons.
I do agree though, its so random that you have to wait so many hours for a beacon to finish, only to gain a tiny sliver of beach and a massive stretch of ocean. Sure, admittedly I'm one of those madmen who terrafirms half that ocean and makes it a gigantic follower-breeding facility. So for me its not all lost. But still. We've already determined that I don't play Godus as its meant to be played right? =P
The least they could do is offer you some additional land to work with. Also - why the hell are there still bits of terrain unaccessible on the first island after jumping to the second? There's atleast half a dozen chests and various other things that I simply can not get to because of the way the beacons are set it and its annoying the hell out of me!

In my defense, I hadn't played since March - So I missed a lot of the 2.0.5 stuff. The least they could do is offer you some additional land to work with. See, this annoys me about the beacons and voyages. You can't build expansion beacons anywhere you'd like, you have to 'repair' beacons left behind by the awesome progenitor race who built them and didn't need them or something. And you have access to a boat (that your people can't build) to go on voyages, but they can't sail to the island that's RIGHT THERE.

Everything progresses along a pre-set track, because its too hard to take into account the free will and unpredictable nature of the player.

Indeed. And linear design sucks most of the time. Including here in Godus.

Godus: The God game that forgets you're a God Perhaps there's a deeper narrative planned for the game that they just haven't fleshed out yet, and therefor we're not privy to the "How and Why" we're such an underpowered God. Unfortunately, right now it just feels like they can't figure out what that narrative is supposed to be, or even if there is one - and it's hurting the game. Are we a youngish God just learning the ropes and gaining power? Are we people around a table playing Gods on a giant board game? Are we a God whose power has dwindled and must regain the faith of the people? It's a mess, and will stay a mess, until they have a more solid plan.

I'm just sitting here waiting to be able to sculpt "every inch" of my wondrous land. Anyone else gotten there yet?

I'm fully expanded, so against my better judgement I've decided to build a farm, actually I kicked the farmers out of astari ville which meant I went from useful expansion progress to slow, but at post ore 150, post population 5k there is nothing left in this build. Oh have anyone explained why this 2.2 is a couple of beacons shorter than its predecessors? Still no builders though I might kick a settlement in just for belief boost.

They basicly refurbished the second island, taking out a bunch of stuff and putting the Astari in. I can only assume this is to accompany the removal of powers that were previously acquired through temple constructions (this is no longer the case) and likely to accompany future expansion on the very bare-bones Astari implementation. Then again... Its 22cans we're talking about, maybe they believe the Astari are perfect as they are and we simply "do not understand the grander vision".

I'm on the mobile version, and have discovered every beacon and treasure temple (2 of them) on the second island that I see. Is there nothing left to do? Population: 6579; Ore: 1213; Wheat: 2765; Belief: 1M. Currently I'm just building the world's tallest builder village. I assume it will crash the game pretty soon as it already doesn't fit on one screen. It's Breeder count is 1556.

The only thing left to do, that I know of, is give Godus a 5 star review!

You make me proud - proving that the desire to push the limits of the game isn't something solely reserved for a handful of PC players. But also present among mobile players. Proving that not all mobile players desire a shallow and repetative simplified experience. Now if only more of you would speak out against Peter's desire for oversimplification. Showing him that a bit of depth and complexity is nothing to be afraid of.

I wish more of your brethren would post here. Do you guys have meetings or perhaps an email list?

If more mobile games had more depth and complexity, then I might actually play them.
