I was going to continue with my more verbose summary but given Danjal has already completed a more concise version I'll leave that alone.

From a quick read of your summaries I can't help but get the feeling they're abandoning making the game actually work in a manner that a PC player would expect and just telling us to do it ourselves. Bit of a disappointment considering I gave them £100 to make a game, not have us fix the mechanics for them.

Going off of these answers so far, I think that if they actually put actions behind their words. Then there may be some hope for the PC version yet. That said, thats a pretty big IF, and it also depends on how heavily the future freemium mechanics can be mitigated.
With a pretty safe assurance that if they don't follow through with actions this time around. There's gonna be some pretty pissed off people kicking off.

I give it a month, two months tops before they lapse again.

As opposed to every other time, Danjal? That 'sweet sculpting tool' in the background was one of the debug tools for creating land. It would certainly make me feel more godlike in the game if I could access those debug tools!

I agree. This seems the most straight forward answers we have ever been given and it seems like he understand what the PC community would like to see. If they do not do this it will probably be the final straw for a lot of people. Edit: Oh the joys of starting a post at work and a call comes in. I hope it is a little more understandable currently. I am surprised I did not start adding bits of the customers problem in to the post.

Okay, Qetesh. I think we have the answer now. And it seems to be No as they have absolutely no interest of implementing actual resource system and Jack's answer (content) shows that at least he understand the game is mobile through and through.

To that particular question, the answers "content" and "multiplayer" show that neither of them truely understand the effects of implementing freemium mechanics into a PC title.
Its like talking to someone who doesn't like soda, trying to explain the difference between Pepsi and Coca-Cola. To them they're the same thing.

Due to being in a Timezone far removed from the uk I haven't had a chance to watch the video yet and won't for a few hours. However, based on danjal's summary it sounds like our suspicions are correct, the content is pretty much set and there will be no great rework for pc.
I do want to thank George, Matthew, peter and Jack for putting this together. I'm pretty sure I won't like the answers in the video or the evasion if jacks answers are as vague as suggested by one poster but I appreciate them taking the time to answer our questions.

I didn't get a bad vibe from the video. I actually had to laugh at some points, which was quite painful as my lungs are pretty sore at the moment. I must say I didn't give it 100% of my attention in part due to my diminished focus. The video in the background was interesting to see though, with world builder tools and meteors flying everywhere. Speaking of which, anyone seen a comet yet?
I'm still wondering why they would find it a challenge to implement a land generating algorithm such as those that have been common in games for decades now.

I think the terrain gen is more of a design choice rather than a limitation. Even the iOS devices should be able to cope with that somewhat. While procedurally generated terrain may wreak havoc with pathfinding, so does user sculpted terrain.
No its far more logical that its a purposeful decision to go with handcrafted maps instead. Because that way they can "guide" the player. It also locks in various other game mechanics like the beacons, preventing them from the need to develop a better scouting mechanism or influence mechanism. Arguably the influence system in B&W was flawed aswell, since a single village could grow large enough in influence to envelop the entire map.

Towards the end of the video and...Wait a moment, Peter's having a moment of clarity! He's realizing how much of a mess they've built up in the game and...wants...to...revise it! Holy crap! Um, yes, maintenance sprint please because that sounds like it also involves introducing the tools like the BFE we've been after.
Thanks for getting these together CMs, very much looking forward to what the rest entail.

I just wanted to say;
Way to go Gmr/Danjal/Digital/Tiki/George/Matt and everyone else that contributed to the potential progress we are seeing in the release of these videos! Sincerely, thank you for your efforts regarding this. I think it's a great step in the right direction.

I felt this was the most honest and hype free video they're done - very subdued - and I appreciate it. I'm still skeptical and not holding my breath - but the talk about not only the Balance File Editing, but LUA scripting has me cautiously optimistic. While one could say "they're just giving up on the pc and putting it in our hands..." - this indeed may be the best thing that could happen.

I retain my seeing is believing pose on this - its fine that they'd want to do it. But as long as we're not actually having access to these tools they're all jut hot air. Making it sound like they may just be telling us what we want to hear to keep is 'satisfied'. I just remain cautious and await results rather than hailing this as the miracle that will save christmas.

I tend to agree, they answered my question with a pretty clear NO.
