It would appear the no longer beta iOS8 is having very painful effects in Godus reset terms. Those few iOS users I know are always hyper keen for new and shiny so surely 22cans might have been slightly prepared for that.

Luckly the new iOS 8 fixed general phone issues I was having I have not tried Godus yet to see what it did for me.

Yea. I had that though as well as I would be interested in seeing how the game plays with things like ocean sculpting and 3 layer sculpting from the beginning. Also I had just unlocked meteor when I had first logged in. At least I had not brought any gems.

Hey guys give 22cans a break here - its not like as developers they had access to development versions of iOS8 to ensure stability of their new game. Oh wait.

Soooo... This is interesting, considering how long iOS8 has been in developers hands. If only Apple would give 22cans a chance to catch up! ugh!

I guess that will be another barrier to working on PC. I really don't see the PC sprint happening anytime soon.

Yeah mobile GODUS is quickly becoming a pair of concrete boots. You can't say we didn't warn them ...

According to Marmalade staff: "Apple changed the file system layout of app containers so you will need to republish your existing marmalade app for it to work with iOS 8. Otherwise it may crash at start up" Guess that means another 4 Weeks of iterative Mobile development for republishing. Source

A quick look at the facebook page (predominantly frequented by mobile users) yields quite the clusterfuck. It seems like many iOS players have lost ALL their progress, many several times. They are just as aware that iOS8 was coming as we are, and equally as perplexed and angry as to why it wasn't anticipated. I'm currently seeing multiple refund requests, a couple requests to be more interactive and informative to the community, and even a question on when 'soon' will be regarding the iOS8 patch.
With a quick glance through past posts I can see that it looks like mobile players have been having issues with crashes and lost games since Sept 1st.
It seems 22cans is treating their mobile players shitty, but only less so than they are treating us PC gamers.

This is the reality of GODUS Mobile:
Mark Cody: I've lost everything. Had 6,000 habitants and over a month of building wasted. I am GUTTED. Replacing with a few gems will not make up for my wasted time.
22Cans response: Hi there Mark, be sure to get in touch with us at Support.22cans.com if you get a chance. We sadly can't make up for any time you've lost but we'll be happy to reimburse you for any gems lost. We'll also be releasing a fix for this issue very soon, but definitely feel free to get in touch with us in the meantime.
Obviously its tough for 22Cans that an OS update did this (I know they should have anticipated it but still...) however, I find it strange they didn't put more safeguards in to protect progress. Is this kind of thing normal for iOS games because its never happened in a PC game I've played that I can remember. I guess that's because on PC you normally have control over your saves.

Andrew Higgins: "right now Godus is unstable on IOS8..." This has got to be the understatement of the gaming year 2014. Like, it looks like everyone who invested in this game, I lost everything! All that is left are 287 Farmers, not even one single builder is left. My whole empire is whiped clean and left to die by your biblical plague you brought upon it with your crappy quality management. Guys this is unacceptable. Bring back my old save game!
These errors sound suspiciously similar to the error I reported in the mobile beta:
"Just to clarify when I say I don't think my game is recoverable I mean I have now builders and no builder houses. Even if I can get a builder from a farming settlement house (not sure if that's possible) it would be painful to rebuild all those houses. Plus because I have wheat I'd need one wheat per house whereas before the legacy houses from per wheat didn't need it. That is a fucking big bug for an activity they want you to do (buy stickers)."
This was back with the old settlement model. Basically the game destroyed all my buildings and ejected a whole bunch of non-builders into the world.

Oh this is my favourite:
Louise Watch: "Any idea when 'soon' might be and whether we get the last world back or have to start again?"
I'm of course referring to the "soon". Sorry I shouldn't take pleasure in other people's misfortune but I did flag this issue 3 months or so ago.

Oddly enough what the iOS 8 update did, sounds exactly like what happens with the PC version for a random selection of users after each PC build change.

Is it bad that I'm not at all surprised and quite amused by this? I mean, they need to experience the FULL extend of Godus right? =D

Well isn't my face red... I was assuming 22Cans had neglected the PC version in favour of iOS, but clearly the iOS release is equally mistreated.
I like how 22Cans feel that refunding user's gems will be sufficient when homeworlds have been lost. This is a game where time is quite literally money and users have spent weeks building up their worlds.
One user on the Facebook page says he's spent over $40 on gems for Godus. Why not just sell the full game on iOS for the same price as the PC build and do away with microtransactions altogether? Suddenly having a homeworld destroyed and gems/landscapes disappearing wouldn't be such a crisis.

Suddenly having a homeworld destroyed and gems/landscapes disappearing wouldn't be such a crisis. Because F2P is the gift that keeps on giving... I love how people argue against the PC model that a game is "too expensive" and then play mobile games and spend that much on micro-transactions. I also love it how the mobile usergroup has been treated to the "full Godus experience" with this iOS 8 update. Not to mention that this entire problem could've been prevented, if only 22cans had paid attention in development as apparently this was known to be going to happen... Marmalade put out a notification warning developers that they had to rework their programs to prevent issues. I suspect that many iOS users will not want their gems back. They probably won't want to go through the entire "experience" again. And would just want their money back now. The few that will accept the gems back will probably be met with another world-wipe incident at a later date and then change their disposition - but thats pure speculation ofcourse.
