You should play it.
That is all.

You should play it. That is all. Agreee. It is an enjoyable game. And once I finish, I'm gonna download some mods and play again.

Aye, but once it gets its hooks into you...man, it just doesn't wanna let go! I think only the Diablo and Escape Velocity series have had this kind of Civilisation-esque "just one more turn" effect on me besides ShadowRun: Returns. You know a game is good when you're already mentally preparing for your second (and third!) runs when you've not even finished your first!

The only major downside I've found with Shadowrun (outside of what I mentioned, which I don't really characterize as a downside), is that as far as I've gotten (which isn't too far) it seems like there's too little combat or it's too easy. It's really weird. I can't put my finger on what exactly feels off, but I think it's mostly just the infrequent nature of combat.

I agree, although my experience is you either die too quickly or just walk through combat like a hot knife in butter - so there's a slight imbalance there. Also, i wish it was more clear how the various skills effect gameplay, because insofar as I've experienced it's hard to tell what skill is more beneficial and which one is holding you back. Also, I feel there could/should be more side missions available - especially with the DLC - since that's sort of the premise of the game world anyhow. Luckily there are mods that add some in, but it's touh to find good ones.

Well, FWIW I <3 the combat and the fact that the Dead Man's Switch campaign is so nicely tight and focused. It allowed me to enjoy my first run as a kind of test run, figuring out which system did what and the best character builds for specific runs.
I didn't have any problem with the level of difficult with combat either, but I built a very combat-focused Elf Street Samurai with most of my XP in Body, Quickness, Ranged Combat and Charisma - I think specialising is the key to success; hybrids don't seem to fare as well.

It's Shadowrun, which means Street Samurai = Insta-Win, especially if they invest in quickness I haven't played it in a while, but when I did play it I found story progression to be linear considering it's based on an RPG. That said, the story was alright enough and the characters were interesting. When I was playing it it also looked as though more campaigns were going to be added, but I don't know if they'll cost more money or whatever. Given that it's currently £2.19 on Steam thanks to the Autumn sale I second Monkeythumbz's recommendation, something you could easily sink a day or two of gaming into if it floats your boat.

HBS have already released the first expansion (i.e. second campaign) for ShadowRun Returns called Dragonfall, which has met with higher criticial praise and stronger fan reviews than even the original campaign. You can find more info on their Steam store page.

As I said, I'd love to see more official expansions/DLC for this game - although the mod community does a fair job of providing content - perhaps adding some support for wider exploration of the city, and some more optional missions; as well as further bug fixes and balancing of stats. I think it's one of those games that almost realizes it's full potential, but leaves just a bit to be desired (much like X-Com: Enemy Unknown/Within) and could be bigger and better than it already is, with just a few tweaks and/or additions.

Well looks like they are going back to the Kickstarter pool again after the new year for another city expansion? All we have seen so far if the 2015 Kickstarter post and a city view on Facebook. I would have though they earned enough on the last games to not need Kickstarter again but maybe that's how game development works? Take what you earned from the last game plus a little less investment for the next game? Either way it is a Kickstarter I am sure I will look at once it comes out.

First this came out: Then there is this second post to kick starter. Here's a piece of look & feel concept art for our new setting. We'll show how it translates into Shadowrun's isometric gameplay view when our Kickstarter launches in January!
