The question is now how long before 22cans is dissolved and Peter forms a new company to try to escape the Godus/22cans stigma.

Huh. In the unofficial roadmap I wrote, I gave George until March 2015. Everything moves so fast these days.
George, over recent months I've had the impression that you've not been particularly enjoying your role as community liaison, so that's all the more reason to congratulate you on your new job. I'm sure there are multiple factors in your decision to make this change, and it sounds like you've found an exciting opportunity with your new company. I bet a more manageable commute will make a huge difference to your quality of life. Also, while we outsiders can only speculate as the day-to-day realities of working for PM, it doesn't like a very rewarding experience when you're trying to be a CM.
You've done a lot for the community and I know you've tried to do a whole hell of a lot more than what has actually been achievable given the constraints you've worked within, so thanks for that. Will you be sticking around the forums?

Wow! The writing has got to be on the wall when both your CMs abandon ship. Wonder if Matt will continue to pedal the idea that he's a "community rock star" after this experience.

As I understand it Matt was a contractor not an employee so his departure probably signifies a trimming back of the investment in godus more than anything else. Sad to see george go but it's good for him. His post talks of a full release I'm 2015 but I just don't know how that can happen. On my phone so will keep it brief.

I can't fault 22cans for taking Christmas off, it's CHRISTMAS folks, it happens once a year. I miss my family and friends this time of year. It's just me and Ba'al and our kitties and I don't begrudge anyone not making a deadline to spend time with their extended family. God bless us all and very Merry Christmas.
I will most likely be here but I don't take issue to any that are not.

I like: Cats; single malt Scotch; Stargate; Amiga; fried potatoes; retro gaming; cheese; snickers; sticky tape.
I don't like: Dimples in the bottom of scotch bottles; Facebook games masquerading as godgames.

It appears so, according to George. At this point, almost every single person we've been in contact with for the last year is going away by end of the month. I'm trying hard to trust what Moo has to say, but it comes with a mountain of eyebrow raising caveats. I'm already amazed that the community's been so patient for the last six months. I can't believe how there are still people that continue to pretend that this project is doing okay at this point. L Last summer, we joked about people needing to update their resumes. I guess they finally got job offers sufficient to cut and run.

I'm inclined to think peter was a pretty big liability so there is a small chance moo can actually get stuff done if he narrows the focus on single player and has the latitude to throw out some of the mobile crap.

I'm already amazed that the community's been so patient for the last six months. I think its less about patience and more about giving up (doesn't take much effort to check in on these forums every now and then - just in case a miracle happens.

I wouldn't describe the community as "patient", more like the community had no other options to wait while peter screwed godus and then pissed off.

...and we weren't joking about resume updates.
I wonder how many will chalk 22cans up to 'at her Majesty's pleasure' or leave a time gap rather than admit the embarrassment of tucans.

Ultimately, this is the first gig where I wasn't able to deliver a big win for the community and it's made me feel bad at my job, which in turn has impacted my mood on a day-to-day basis. Consequentially, I've made the decision to move on to a sphere where I can generate success more consistently. I'll probs log in to ProBoards from time-to-time, happy to see the back of Steam though.

It wasn't possible to deliver a big win in this community. You've been amazing as a CM, but you can't work miracles. Everything you've tried to achieve has been undermined by the decisions taken over your head.
I can't even imagine having to deal with Godus from the perspective of a CM. Repititious complaints and suggestions from users, week in and week out. Knowing that the vast majority of these concerns are not going to be addressed, but not being able to say so. Slow-moving development and development in outwardly-inexplicable directions compounding the issue of user dissatisfaction. Focus on the mobile side, but then mobile users tend only to participate in the online community when they have a complaint, so even that side of the project can't have felt very rewarding. Unlike the rest of us you don't hide behind anonymity so it must take a personal toll to have to face this every day.
So, you weren't bad at your job. You've been a victim of a horribly managed project where you weren't given the resources or influence to achieve what you wanted. Moving on is the best decision you could have made.

Thanks Crumpy, I concur... although you forgot the bit about how each update introduced more bugs than it fixed!

Well, I didn't necessarily want to get you talking on your opinions of the product! I don't know how much you'd ever be able/prepared to say. But I would absolutely love to hear a bit more about you experiences of working at 22Cans, especially given that you've had other experiences in similar roles in the games industry so you have a good basis for comparison with other companies.

Well, I can tell you for a fact that 22cans is definitely the most... unique work environment I've experienced throughout my career.
