An idea for Follower cemeteries:
Eventually everyone including Followers dies. But this can be an opportunity for a new Godus idea. Basically have a window pop up informing players that one of the most elderly Followers, let's call her Maggie McGillicuddy, has passed away and that the player needs to find a spot to create a cemetery. The cemetery would perhaps require about the space of a mansion abode. Without the cemetery Followers happiness would go down substantially for obvious reasons. With the new cemetery happiness stabilizes or goes up a tad. A little nondenominational tombstone appears for each Follower who has, sob, passed. But here's the good part, every once in awhile a ghost will rise out of the cemetery and begin to float amongst the Follower abodes. And wherever the ghost goes happiness declines and belief develops more slowly. So it is up to the player to locate the spirit and FoG it. Cool.
It would be a lot more work but if you were so inclined you could have two Followers acting as pall bearers carrying poor Maggie to the cemetery. Personally I would watch the burial ceremony and of course keep an eye out lest Maggie's spirit return. Possibly the ghost would only be visible at night though the negative effect would be constant. This might even mitigate the endless thunderstorms as ghosts would be most visible in lightning flashes.
I just enjoy putting ideas out there. If 22Cans likes them great. If not that's fine.

Not a bad idea, in general, but I think it's perhaps a bit too grim for Godus' often lighter, cheerier mood; but I suppose it could be animated/implemented in a similar "cute" way in which the other morbid aspects are done (like sacrifice, drowning, arson, etc.). The other question would be, "is this essential to gameplay?. In other words, what woild it add to the game besides visually, or just as a support mechanic for the badly implememted happiness system?
But overall you made some interesting ideas.

13thGeneralYes, I believe it is essential for gameplay to bring some life and activity to my moribund realm. I would even be happy if they used the dead to bring it to life. I have posted other suggestions along this line: get the Followers out of their abodes and planting little gardens, going for walks to visit friends, walking their tiny dogs, going swimming and sunbathing, anything! It would be a huge plus to give the impression that the "world" is teeming with life! My "Follower Explorer" idea serves the same purpose, although it also has deeper play value. I can't believe it isn't obvious to the developers (with all due respect) that making the Godus world vibrant with life and activity would enhance the game tremendously and pull in more players. Maybe they indeed know this and have plans but are keeping mum for reasons of corporate security or because they want it to be a big surprise. Who knows? Do I think it would be too scary? Absolutely not. I'm not suggesting the Walking Dead here. They could look like floating sheets with eye holes. They could go "woo." It would be fun. And they wouldn't really do anything when the player isn't there. You would only have to address the ghost infestation if and when you play. Hopefully the ghost "problem" would be intermittent unlike the annoying nightly thunderstorms. Thanks for your comments! I just noticed that FuriousMoo said that giving some life to the world and the Followers is "on the list" on another thread. So it seems there is hope. Would sure love to see "the list."
