I've kickstarted a lot of projects. Maybe too many projects. There have been a few duds; mostly small first-time or otherwise inexperienced developers over-reaching their capabilities. But by & far I've been very happy with it & I can say with confidence that a lot of the successful projects would not have happened, or would have been vastly different if it weren't for Kickstarter. It definitely sucks that it sounds like they're so hands-off when it comes to refunds, but it makes sense that they sorta have to. Hopefully, as they grow, they'll get better systems in place for ensuring project creators' obligations & recourses for backers when they're not met.

I would like to quickly remind people that PM's excuse about making funding is baseless in his situation. Double checking the Kickstarter, they asked for 450k and got 526k in funds. When a project is over by that much, at best, it was pressure to meet a stretch goal, rather than stress to achieve funding.

Based on his subsequent comments I don't think he gave much consideration to what he actually needed. I'm pretty sure he's had a lot more than 500k from PC players however it's been wasted on mobile development, aimless feature reversals (due to not having a plan) and bloated corporate overhead.

I think people will really appreciate the content of this. Plus she has done an interview with peter so it will be good to see what she can get out of him in that.

I kind of understand that. I think Kickstarter is a non-profit, is it not? If they had to hire lawyers and police projects they would have to start putting up ad and start charging people a lot more to host their projects and you would see a lot if not all of the really small cool projects disappear. SO personal I do not blame or hold Kickstarter to blame. I did not do enough research to know Peters rep, so I do not feel they should have to take actions for this or the one other project that I feel did not live up to their promises. Kickstarter is absolutely not a non-profit organisation. It is a normal for-profit private company. It takes a 5% fee (of the total money raised) for successfully backed project. This is after the payment processing fee (3-5% depending on what payment method is used). So a project sourcing $500k actually gets ~$470k or so. Kickstarter profits. But having cleared that up - I also don't hold KickStarter responsible. They provide a platform to raise money and means of communication to the backers. When you back a project - you should look at the risks of the project achieving its goals. You then back the project taking on the risk that it may not be successful. You are backing it because you want to help it exist - you are not buying a product - although a product is often the end result. KickStarters fail to deliver ALL the time - its a risk. I've backed numerous Kickstarter projects and Godus is the only one I'd consider a failure that I was unhappy with. Lesson learnt: Peter has no idea anymore, any previous genius is long long gone. Also - don't trust anything that comes out of his mouth.

Does she write for the guardian? Freelancer, so she writes for a variety of outlets, The Guardian being among them. Keith's the games editor for The Guardian, so it stands to reason that it's probably going to be there.

What a load of crap, not the article, it is well written, the fact that he makes himself the victim again. WTF. Also he pretends that he was always trying to fulfil his promises and completely downplays that he abandoned GODUS for the Trail and stripped all the resources off him. This man is a liar.
And how about this:
“It’s not that we backed away from the idea, I still love the idea and I still absolutely love the fact it was someone British that won it, I still love the fact that Bryan is young and it’s going to be a life changing experience for him. That said, it is inexcusable that someone from 22Cans didn’t stay in contact with him. It’s just incompetence to be honest with you.”
Well its lucky hes not old because he probably wouldn't live to see his prize.

Damn you, how did you beat me. I was literally refreshing the page over and over to see while bouncing between pages. Caught it even before the author did. As to your followup response, I more or less agree, but we could have anticipated as much. He's said the same in other interviews, and in my tweeting of the article, I expressed skepticism to him avoiding press from now on, which was only affirmed towards the end of the article.
