New Godus article from Kotaku today. Kotaku
Also... if anyone else missed it... Peter assured The Guardian in his interview earlier today that we would have a finished version of Godus in our hands within 9 months. Ze clock, is ticking. Hope it pans out. Good luck FuriousMoo and the rest of the team! Wait when was this interview I thought Peter said in the other interview he was not going to do any more press interviews? Peter would not lie to us would he? LOL

The Kotako interview is strong. I like the way the three big interviews - LauraK, RPS and Kotako complement each other. Each one has its own strengths. RPS is definitely the crudest and most direct but I still think its the best in terms of getting results from the man himself.
My favourite quote so far:

Wow this is an unexpected bombshell (apologies if anyone has already posted):
Lol I just realised this was from Fabs responding to me on another thread many days ago. Crazy. It makes complete sense but if Peter tries to make us pay again for hubworld there will be hell to pay.

How about he stops putting resources into other games if money is such a problem?
PM will NEVER get so much as a used roll of TP from me let alone a penny. I guess he needs to learn what the word priorities means. No Trail till you finish the game you promised, that's the way honorable folks do things.
He really should stop speaking in public. I don't how he does not grasp this.

Wow.. That's pretty damning, especially after all of Peter's excuses about multiplayer... Just... Wow. I think I'm experiencing some kind of Molyneux fatigue. I keep on thinking nothing this guy does will suprise me, but the astounding revelations just keep coming. I'm going to take a nap.

I still don't understand why he doesn't pay Bryan except for perhaps the fact he wants to keep the money. Disgusting.

An acorn that grows into a tree - it's the second time he doesn't deliver it, and they took extra money, because it was an addon.
The most terrible thing is, there have been so many imaginative possibilities to monetize the game later on - but he had to invent something incredible amazing totally new and wonderful, only problem it looks like a mix of the most awful methods to steal the money of the people playing the game. And none of them is new or amazing.
If i think about the acorn ... they could have sold seeds to plant trees that grow into big individual trees, maybe procedural so every tree could be different. People could foster them, could decorate them, followers would pray to them and make festives, i would have been a minigame on it's own in the homeworld. Every player would have had the choice to use it or not. They could have sold pets that would have live in it's branches or trunk. He only had to make a meaningful homeworld. No Jupiter sized giant world with 50 Million people. Fill it with cool things, and use it as base for multiplayer. Ah, come on i don't want to think about it anymore. It's useless.
The bold part is a real kicker, right. In most of these recent interviews, the sticking point on why it has been 3 years plus instead of the 7-9 months is that innovation takes time. But Godus isn't innovative. It isn't new. It isn't amazing. It's boiler-plate, very common freemium mechanics. They've in fact gone out of their way to uphold those very boiler-plate mechanics instead of innovating. Months and months ago, for example, when they asked their users what the number one thing they needed to change, overwhelmingly the answer was the resource system, ie, stickers/gems. Their answer was to double down and put out an absurd message about how they love stickers and gems. I can only guess that, internally, people like Fabs are/were mortified by stuff like this. I know I would be. If Peter says " Unique" and " Never before seen" and "I nnovative" one. more. time. So help me, I will single-handedly fly all the way to Guildford via shear furious willpower and wrangle that fracking microphone right out of his hands if it kills me. Bad, Peter, very bad!

Yeah, I've skipped games recently that I might otherwise have backed because of this whole experience. They were likely more deserving than ol' Moly, but I have become jaded and fatigued. I certainly try not to see it as buying a product, but supporting a cause or idea. These days I (try to) only back projects that are really innovative and potentially impact quality of life, like technologies and research, as well as things that help communities, or children and education. Most of them don't have high rewards, but they try; they are more focused on just trying to make something useful and needed, they just want to help make a better world. It's honorable and noble. Sadly a lot of them never gain enough funding... And yet things like movies and games get oodles of cash thrown at them. Just look at the insanity of Exploding Kittens; completely fucking nuts for a card game to blow up like that. It really puts a dent in my hopes for humanity. I think there's two folds things happening here; Backer abuse and Pitch abuse. The format is too supportive of being a "pre-order" and "special purchase" platform, and an easy cash grab for overly ambitious business folk, and it gets seriously abused on both sides.

It would make sense to force EA developers to give 2 hour demo trials for their games, say once every 3 months per player. That way people could truly evaluate before they play. At the moment they say don't buy unless you want to play in current state but its almost impossible to appreciate current state until you play.

Imagine some of you may not care for this one too much, but I thought it was a good, moderate take on the situation. Requiem for a dreamer.

Man, I kinda want to hop in that thread and link them to where we organized our own attempt at a sort of community intervention and got blown the fuck off not too long after with Molyneux's announcement of The Trail. I do kind of agree with the sentiments that maybe RPS was a tad abrasive, but I also agree with the idea that the man had it coming in some form or another. People close to him have tried to get him to listen, what few fans he had left (I guess that'd sort of, in some bizarre way be us?) tried to, but off he went as usual, and finally someone had to get a media fire under him...Which we're still not sure will truly change anything until we see some substantial work done on Godus. If I'd honestly thought the email I sent was going to get anything going, I'd have thought to send a link to the Q&A session, but at the time of sending I was tired and thinking no one would pick up on it. It was my impression that some had already tried to no avail, from some vague memory of us discussing it before, so it wouldn't have been shocking to see nothing come of it. Ah well, that's hindsight for you, I suppose. Now it's simply the waiting game again.

It certainly reflected a lot of my sentiments about the overall situation; I tend to be a moderate, friends have often hinted I'm a natural mediator. I have a lot of varying feelings and opinions over this whole thing, and am trying to look for a common ground - without villainizing Molyneux, while still holding him accountable.

Honestly, it was just a matter of time before the news finally broke through; like accumulated snow on a flat roof, somethings going to give eventually. You just happened to hit the right harmonic. I have the same urge to make corrections to many of the assumptions, or misconstrued information being shunted about (like the fact Proboards isn't the official forum), and include them in on a more balanced history of events. If you feel like it, I think you should; I would assume providing a broader scope would help keep people informed of the bigger picture. All the angles need to be represented.
