Yes, if you're still on the fence about this (or if you've never heard of an app player like Andy OS) and have suffered severe head trauma recently, you too can consider becoming a new paid paying tester for 22Cans' mobile f2p title! store.steampowered.com/app/232810/Notice when the sale ends, April 14th. So would anyone from 22Cans care to tell us for what else they have planned around this? Because I'll tell you what this will generally mean to everyone else: Appeal to sales impulse buys without any customer assurances that the product will in any way have hope to be a PC title or for it to become a title they would want to buy as per the store page itself, likely going to hide behind this when convenient: "This Early Access game is not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development." All without telling while trying to hide from the prospective customers that the title is now in post-release support development and that design input as per the "get involved with this game as it develops" is only supposed to be within the narrow lines 22Cans' PR allows for any feedback elsewhere than here, while flogging this thing everywhere at discounts. Again, defrauding the Early Access program and inspiring more rules to be created by VALVe to address this sort of thing. At least 22Cans is consistent about that... No wonder 22Cans are keen on forum whitewashing - they are probably cashing in on whatever they could get right before cashing out. Fabs leaving might have something to do with this. My prediction: April 14th or shortly thereafter will be when Godus gets Spacebased (with 22Cans also hoping to cash in further with the 1.0 Full Release announcement even though 2.0 was...yeah...) I'd post about this on the Steam forums, but for par the dodgy moderation would probably come up with some warning involving "console emulators" because I mentioned Andy OS.

When you consider humble bundle, green man gaming and steam these sales are almost constant. I've quesitoned the wisdom of discounting your product at this stage when you are investing in improving it. Wouldnt you wait until multiplayer and combat were in place and try and get some sales at the full price? By having constant 75-80% sales that cannabalise any future potential revenue that might justify the investment their making. This creates a self fulfilling prophecy that "a stand alone pc version isn't viable". what 22cans have done is the equivalent of me trashing my house, shitting in every room, taking photos for advertising purposes and then starting to renovate while trying to sell it at the same time. I'm not going to get a good price for my house. Better to finish the renovation, advertise the house and get a good price.
As you say the pricing behaviour suggests they are going to space base the game but I predict more like later this year or even early 2016 once all the boxes are ticked.

Indeed, they've been milking Godus hard for ANY sales they can scrape up, but the Steam one will be the big cash-out left for PC/Mac/Marmalade Allows Us to Conveniently Fail Linux Kickstarter Stretch Goals.
By doing this, they are only increasing the number of people who will eventually be dissatisfied customers, counting on most of them to not care that they bought into lies to purchase the game for so little - instead of realising that some of those who might buy it were PM faithful at some point, who were wary, but decided to check it out anyways. Now they can directly see the results of the monumental cock-ups in production/development themselves for how the game was turned from god game ideas into a mobile freeware mess (which can also be done via app players).
BRILLIANT!
I wonder if 22Cans, like a few other developers and some of the more questionable publishers, assume that their audience is infinitely replaceable - because they've been acting that way, and that's suicide through word-of-mouth.

Did anyone notice the Archer in the image of the godus steam front page? Bit of false advertising there, make you think it's fully functional not just a opt-in build thing at the moment. Poor unsuspecting public!

"inventive" marketing. www.22cans.com/Reactive, living followers? nah. Epic Journey through history? nah. All lands connected, up to millions of Gods and billions of civilisations? nah. Poor unsuspecting public! I've often had a wonder about this fellow and this screen: cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/232810/ss_fea0733125c28c5e058ba979b6259e798727c336.600x338.jpgApparently, some UK game developers think that in-store product screenshot mockups and promotional images are perfectly legit thing to offer as "game screenshots" (see: Starbound). s111spp: Just a matter of time, since they've really not addressed any long-term PC design issues that require some divine provenance and intervention there at 22Cans. I just wonder if Konrad and the others actually working upon the game are aware at how badly they've been left holding the bag, and again if Fabs leaving may have had something to do with this game heading towards Spacebased.

Baaaaaaah Now we're cooking with 22cans! maybe their front page is really one of those "find the differences" games, where instead of two similar pictures, the differences you are tasked with finding are between the 22cans narrative and reality. I wonder if we win a prize for finding them all?

Ba'al come quick, Mandrake posted something that is already on the Internet. Shouldn't this be in a sub sub forum? They have played down Fabs leaving but I'm pretty sure our hopes of major changes are royally screwed without him. The big test will be hubworld. Let's stop calling it multiplayer because if we accept that language theyll just implement instances battles rather than the persistent cooperation/competition they promised.

Oh I'm sure they've already collectively dipped their minds into their fun-bag of hippy dippy marketing adjectives for their planned scrubbing of hubworld in favour of "the most inventive, bonkers, truly unique multiplayer experience, unlike anything you've ever touched before, in the fullness of time multiplayer experience, rest assured." which will probably end up begin, like you said, some minimalist warband 2 player scenario that fulfills no other function than checking a Kickstarter box.

I put my 100 plus pounds into Godus, I would walk over hot coals with Peter in one arm and blood sucking leeches covering the other, aka, one and the same, before they got a fraction of a penny out of me ever again. Clear enough acid tongue inference there?
