I still have "The Mythical Man-Month Excuse" box unchecked - I haven't seen it myself, but it would be along the same line. Can't afford multiple sprint teams...uh, what about what Raspofabs was working upon while the rest of those developing on Godus were doing something else? A sprint is to the exclusion of anything else? That excuse makes it sound like 22cans' execution of Agile to be more paralysing of development than helping, suggesting (as per a remark on the Steam forum) that it is merely being used for buzz-word value only. Not much word else given involving company policy about that other than passing the buck - much like their response towards anything else that might be considered important to this title and company, but this "reboot" has been flaccid and unimpressive. There are a number of threads on Steam about this very topic - what is wrong with the game. A lot of them have a noticeable lack of 22cans involvement while otherwise there are suggestions that we try surveying what we already know. It would be like an emergency crew arriving on-scene to someone under a car and having to vote upon what happened. That is how paralysed 22cans' "Agile" looks, especially when a "sprint" is a marathon of an under-staffed and under-experienced team of revolving employment as most of the studio were moved to another game. Still nothing really substantial for the Kickstarter backers - those who funded it for Linux don't even really get a game unless they have an Android app player. Still nothing for those who were sold a PC game so they could instead serve as testers for a mobile F2P title. Still no word on the work of the fellow who begged to be working upon Godus again so that he could contribute as much as possible. Still no word on Bryan Henderson - therefore no word on the entire fucking point of Godus. Still no word on pretty much anything but the sparkly of Combat waved so hard in front of people's faces they probably could be tried for assault. Still nothing to really suggest that this is indeed a "reboot" while looking more like assuming everyone should grant a free "do-over". If people were able to see that their feedback was valued a little more than a numerical tally then I am sure they would a little less pessimistic and cynical about what can be expected from 22cans. It really does look like a PR puppet show at this point. If I'm understanding their comments about "parts of the PC community" and the whole upvote nonsense, the new PR narrative is something to the effect of "You can't please everybody" and "There'll always be complainers". This, of course, goes hand-in-hand with their refusal to speak about development in any terms besides "Godus needs a skeleton crew for development and we owe nothing to anyone."

Colin, be a friend and reply to Digital Jam's response to your damage control. This is the third time we've had to remind you after you locked the thread to avoid responding to him, so it really should be on your radar by now. Thank you. I feel I must speak up on his behalf. Colin is dealing with private matters at the moment so is not going to be around for a little bit. Please have a little patience with him.

Given 22Cans history it does smell like kind of an excuse to justify another period of silence from the company for at least what ever minor thing's currently going on to blow over. It goes without saying that we don't need any further explanation on the matter, because if it's true, it's none of our business and if it isn't it doesn't matter anyway. Of course all I can say is good luck to colin, but it still feels a bit convenient. It's a bit sad though that every time I hear something from 22Cans, my first thought is always "bullshit", specially lately and I think that says a lot about how things have been done so far.

I am sorry for your lose Colin, but I understand what totallytim said. This is the mess you have inherited and it going to take more then a few months to rebuild the trust with this community. Please do not take anything personally, till God forbid you become corrupted by the dark side of 22cans and start feeding us the company line of BS. /9->

So far I'm an unsatisfied customer and considering how things are going, I'm going to be even more unsatisfied in the future.

Maybe I'm too, but I still have to go to work every day and don't share that with my coworkers because it won't do them any good and there's nothing they can do about it. Was what you told Lord Ba'al supposed to be confidential? Why would you tell him if he was supposed to keep it for himself. It's not like we we would be able to tell the difference between you ignoring us or being absent. But yea, sure use me as an excuse for interacting even less with your customers.

Please do not take anything personally, till God forbid you become corrupted by the dark side of 22cans and start feeding us the company line of BS. /9-> Still, we shouldn't speculate whenever they specifically say it's a private matter. If it were some kind of business trip or arrangement, sure, but Colin outright tried to convey that hey, private matter, specifically so we wouldn't speculate this way. Yes, 22cans has a bad track record. No, that doesn't mean we should be imagining up devious intent for anything pertaining to its employees' private lives. That's just inappropriate, and crossing a line that needn't be crossed, given that there's plenty enough inappropriate behavior we can discuss from 22cans as a company without delving into their employees' lives. Again, were it related to business, that's entirely in line to be discussed, but if they go out of their way to tell us they'll be inactive due to personal matters, we should respect that. Let's be honest here, if one of them got sick, would we really want to speculate and have them correct us saying, more politely, come the fuck on dude, I had the shits? Personally, I wouldn't, as that really is none of my concern as long as it doesn't inexplicably lead to them dying and having to shut down operations, in which case, okay, fuck, that sucks. I'm not trying to make things personal. It already is. My company doesn't come into it at this time. I told Lord Ba'al personally that wouldn't be around due to how I knew some people would react if I said it and because it's the polite thing to do. Why would you tell him if he was supposed to keep it for himself. It's not like we we would be able to tell the difference between you ignoring us or being absent. I think not, given that Ba'al said something about it. It was only to be said if someone requested Colin's attention, in which case he could give them a heads up as to what was going on, which is precisely what he did. I imagine if someone had requested his attention on Steam, one of the mods may have said something to explain the delay or absence of a response, but in case they instead went here, he shared similar info with Ba'al for said situation. It's actually indicative of handling his job rather well given his circumstances, I'd say. He didn't have to tell Ba'al anything, after all, and could have left it up to Muir/Aynen to notice someone asking over here.

I can understand that and agree that we should leave peoples personal lives of this out of things. But going back and reading totallytim post a couple times just to make sure I read it the way I thought I had the first time. I do not see it as a personal attack on Colin, but an observation on how baddy we were treated that we even suspect even a simple "Life happened" comment is taken in the worse light. He even says that it is none of our business either way, but just an observation he has had, and one I can share. I will admit that I am saddened by not being surprised by some of the stuff that has happened. I am sorry I have become jaded and do not expect anything good from 22can and even if we get something good I am going to study it every way I can to see where the trick is in the treat. Colin again do not take this personally as this just the view of someone who only knows you from the forums where I wear my 22Cans tinted glasses. But to me you have started comeing off very defensive, which I can understand with the mood of this forum. I had some hope again with the latest communications but it feels like to me that it has rapidly gone back to the old style of communications again. But that is just from an armchair forum reader.

I agree with this, and think that totallytim is merely basing his suspicions from how it appears that 22cans is coming up with any excuse to avoid really discussing anything but Combat with the community, almost to the point of dictating that if the discussion isn't about Combat then it isn't going to be entertained. Then locked, dodged and ignored, when 22cans has that ability to. And from 22cans' track record, especially with some of the lies their forum moderators used to hand out routinely, I can't really blame him for being suspicious. Colin does have my sympathies for personal matters, though I hope that they will not cause his work to suffer.

Please do not take anything personally, till God forbid you become corrupted by the dark side of 22cans and start feeding us the company line of BS. /9-> It seems to me that totallytim is basing his observations off the fact that, for all intents and purposes, what you consider "corrupted" is what the person in question considers doing their job, and as such speaks volumes regarding other areas of concern. They have made clear that "the mess" is actually a great job and the "community trust" exists solely in upvotes. That is what I suspect totallytim looks at when speaking about this situation, and I find it difficult to fault him for that. Please don't try to make things personal. I'm sorry for your loss, but you still represent a company that has shown nothing but disregard for it's customers. Kindest sympathies for any grief and suffering, but there's something to be said for the avoidance of obtuseness and passive-aggressive remarks. I can understand that and agree that we should leave peoples personal lives of this out of things. But going back and reading totallytim post a couple times just to make sure I read it the way I thought I had the first time. When you have duplicity in the past and unscrupulous "communication" in the present, it is rather farcical to feign indignation at individuals suggesting the possibility that some sort of funny business might be occurring. I'm sure everyone here feels sympathy, but it exists in the context of reality as well.

To be clear, I don't view it as a personal attack, but I still think it's out of line. That's simply my opinion, though, and I understand if others disagree. Nevertheless, I don't think we do ourselves any favors wildly speculating on possible 22cans misbehavior. Let's be real here, they don't need any intricate plans to dig themselves further into the pit of diminished reputations. Do I see where this line of thought is coming from? Easily, I've been around here awhile, but I think it's pretty much beating a dead horse to voice it at this point when it comes to any little moment of absence of some of the devs. Honestly, we've been through, what? 3 or 4 extended periods of null comms before? Why get uppity over a few days or a week? Drag out the horse for beating when it gets to being two weeks or nearly a month. That's when we know things are getting sour around here, if our past experience with 22cans serves as any indication. That's all I was trying to get at, for what it's worth.

Lately I've been noticing that people are starting to play the man instead of the company. I must say that's a tendency that I do not particularly enjoy. I haven't seen any reason I would consider legitimate for anyone to do so. Colin and Simon have come here of their own free will. They are members here just like the rest of us. I think they deserve the courtesy to be treated the same way as any other members.

I have seen these concerns presented in a number of ways, from angry to extremely helpful, for them all to be ignored. Therefore, I find their omission a personal choice of dishonesty to be held towards the representative parties. *- Let's face it, this is about the only Godus community left alive that isn't the joke of the Steam forums.

Colin is responsible for relating that direction to the community. Those are their decisions, and anything said or done in that regard is subject to the community's feelings, as long as they are within the rules. I will treat Simon and Colin with the same courtesy I would give to Molyneux if he made an account here and started piping up.
