Scream: Hey there!
Arryu: hello
Arryu: Oh, are you here in repsonse to my post on the general steam forums?
Scream: Yes, exactly.
Arryu: oh, good. I volunteer mod a forum so I somteims get randoms adding me with questions. I had to chech your profile
Arryu: So, the issue in question is in regards to the moderators on the GODUS forums.
Arryu: The two volunteer mods are Muir and Anyen
Arryu: personall,y I have reported their personal profiles a few times, and I have encouraged other to do the same when an issue arises (many don't know that if you report a mod on the forum the moderate the report just goes to that mod)
Scream: What exactly are you taking issue with?
Arryu: Well, its bit of a long story, but TL:DR:
Arryu: ever since the ealier builds of the game there have been issues with the game not going in the direction it was expected to based on both its kickstarter pitch and steam EA store page.
Arryu: in fact the store page had to be changed multiple times since it didn't acurrately depicts the game in it scurrent state
Arryu: now there is a group of long time customers (and KS backers) who are voicing their opinion that the game is not as advertised and every time the issue comes up, even in polite, fact by fact converstaion the poster is threatened with a ban, or the post is deleted/moved to the forums off topic or "22cans +kisckstarter" discssiuons page
Scream: As they were appointed by the dev of the game, you would need to get in touch with them. Reporting their profiles isn't going to help.
Arryu: this has been happeneing since a few months after the games release to steam EA, and has been a major contention in the community trying to voice their concerns about the games progress (or lack ) and direction (which wildly differs from the advertised game)
Scream: They can pretty much moderate their own forums as they want. If they do their job poorly, they will eventually lose customers, sales and thus profit.
Arryu: I see, however there have been cases of the dev doing these things as well
Scream: Then I'd suggest to avoid these forums. There's pretty much nothing you can do. If you want to voice your opinion about the game, do so within a review
Scream: They cannot censor that and it's going to affect their store page rating score and thus their sales and profit.
Arryu: Wow. That's incredibly dissapointing
Arryu: Ok, can I get your opinion/advice on another issue with the game then?
Scream: Sure
Arryu: The game itself has been rife with controversy. The dev started a KS campaign, raised a few hundred thousand to make a PC game, then in december of 2013 (i believe) it was announced that the game was going to move into mobile market. Progress on PC version virtually stopped. In the winter of 2014 we found out that the dev has since moved onto creating another game, taking over half the creative team with him leaving only 6 people to work on the game you are currently selling in EA for 22. Also worth note is the fact that this game currently only differs from the mobile version in two ways:
Arryu: the "Pit of doom" which lets you sacrifice followers for gems
Arryu: and the price. which is $20 canadian and free on the iStore
Arryu: How would you suggest I deal with this issue? There been discussions on how to report this game, but the options suggested from the store page are vague and don't seem to cover what is happening
Scream: What exactly would you want to report it for
Arryu: . Oh, I forgot to mention, the Dev is recorded as saying that during his KS campaign he would "promise anuthing" to get money for the game
Scream: It's an Early Access game. Early Access games, per definition, may or may not change.
Scream: The latter is what you described.
Arryu: I would want to say fraud, but that does seem excessive. I am positive that steam rules state that a game cannot charge more on its store than it does anywhere else.
Scream: Mobile Version != PC version
Arryu: Well, the game itself is listed as EA, but when you look at the two differences between PC and mobile, and then see that mobile is called "fully released" you begin to question what is happening
Scream: That rule doesn't apply here.
Arryu: even though there is only the small difference in how they aquire their in game currency?
Scream: Yup. It's not the same game
Arryu: Like I said, the ONLY difference is the way you can aquire gems in the two games
Scream: Can you play the mobile version on PC?
Scream: I doubt it.
Arryu: you doubt its the only difference, or that you can play it on PC?
Scream: It's a significant difference
Scream: The latter
Scream: The game got a lot of attention, if it'd violate the EA rules, Valve would most likely already be aware of it.
Scream: The best thing you can do is to leave a review.
Arryu: so the only difference in the game that has been in EA for 2+ years and the mobile version which has been fully relaesed for almost a year is significant? When all the does is bypass the need for PC users to make in game transactions?
Arryu: I'm baffled at the logic
Scream: I think it's not that hard to understand that a PC version of a game is not the same as the mobile version
Scream: GTA Vice City PC and PSP contain nearly the same content
Scream: But they are not the same
Scream: You wouldn't say: Steam offers GTA VC for $5, but the stor around the corner has the PSP version for $10, that's unfair
Scream: Anyway, I gotta go for a bit. There's nothing I can really do for you, I'm just a community moderator. My advise is, if you dislike the game, the devs practives or anything else related to the game, leave a negative review.
Scream: There's not much else that can be done.
Arryu: Do you know someone higher up thast I can get in touch with?
Arryu: because I would like that info please
Scream: If you feel the game is violating a rule, report it so Valve can take a peek at it.
Arryu: I have
Scream: Then that's all you can do.
Arryu: I would like to TALK to someone else, if you can get me that info
Scream: Contact Steam Support if you wish
Scream: That's the only other option you have.
Arryu: So to reitierate, my options are report the game and have it continue to be unresolved, write a review which is essentially a drop in the pond right now, or talk to support and wait two weeks for a response which will most liekly dismiss the issue?
Arryu: I understand you're not responsible, and I don't mean to come across as frustrated at you, but I am frustrated
Scream: I'm sorry, but I really can't help. =/
Scream: And I gotta go for dinner. Have a nice evening or whatever time it currently is where you live. =)
Arryu: Thanks for the time
