One minute he was there promising great things - now as if by magic - nothing.
Not been able to play for a week after an upgrade. Wondering if the upgrade was intended to enhance the game that much or not though!

Matthew Allen never had any real power to change anything. It was a long shot, but the issues, as Umbra said, were at a higher level than the community manager.

I've seen him tweet a couple of times recently. So it looks as though he is still alive. Or someone is making it look like he is.

Wait, this is Cluedo, right?

I was also wondering where he wondered off to. One post a week if we are lucky and the one Augur around still using that account not his own as he promised.

A lot of stuff has changed since Sam was around hasn't it. Not really. Still shite. Good to hear that I have not missed anything. It's much better not to think about Godus for a few weeks. Now, i think i am done with this game. It will never be the game i wanted. Now i could try to make 22cans the hell on earth (attacking them where ever possible). But i think that's not worth the effort. It's better to write my money off and have a better life (funny aren't games meant to make good times and not bad times?). Yes, it's somewhat unsatisfifying to see them come through with their plan.
Maybe i come back from time to time, to look what's going on (or not). CU.

Matthew came on to the scene with a lot of fanfare and a great reception, but it's quickly become apparent that he has no power at all beyond what anyone else had before him.
Early on he insisted he was working FOR the community, and claimed to be putting in long hours 7 days a week to... he wasn't exactly clear on this, write reports for the dev team I think? That report must be the length of War and Peace by now. He seems like a pleasant and well-intentioned person but he's also a champion bullshitter. There's no pretending that any of the promised changes have come to fruition, and his role on the Steam forum (I don't have access to the backers' forum) has been reduced to that of Muir: cheerleading and promising fervently that he's "passing feedback on to the devs" and that fixes and updates will be "soon".
I asked him when he first appeared if he was able to speak freely or if he had to run everything past either of the PMs. He said he could speak freely. Not sure I believe him.

I'm gonna go with Is that mean of me? Probably. But in this case... I am thurowly laughing towards the few that believed the issue was Sam. - His leaving should have been a bad omen, rather than a relief.

Sam got tired of having to deal with the lies. He had the questions to PM. PM said, yes just let me review them. PM then went off to do GDC ignoring Sam's pleadings. Then the "oh, yeah, the whole premise is a mobile game with micro-transactions, oh sorry must use the marketing term, "invest to play", and then the hypocrisy was too much so he gave notice.
Mathew is an intern given the job no one wants. He has just gotten to the "how do I tell them, 'yeah, the design plan..., um PM is right on it, just needs a bit more cleaning up so isn't naughty.", knowing full well there either isn't and never has been one or the exact steaming PoS cash grab was the intent all along and PM committed fraud in the kickstarter.
rough job. no envy.

For the record. I never ever thought Sam was a bad guy doing a bad job. Although I don't know the reason behind his departure I feel he did the right thing by leaving the stinking ship. (that is not a typo, I really meant stinking)
Regarding Matthew Allen, it seems he has his own puppet in place with DrPinkWhatever who eagerly responded to a post I made on the board.

I don't think Matthew is an intern. By the looks of his linkedin profile he's got plenty of experience. And he didn't get given a job nobody wants, he grabbed it with both hands. This is what he does. As far as I can see he is a community manager and has been in the past. His job is basically to keep people sweet. He'll spin words, and agree with people and jump into threads and chat and try to convince everyone that stuff is happening, regardless of what's really going on. His job is to convince you that he's a gamer just like you and with a bit more patience Godus is going to be great. Just like what Sam was doing... Except, Matthew isn't a developer having to take on an additional PR responsibility; this is what he does.

Hi everyone, Matthew Allen here! I've been lurking around these forums for a couple of months now, but figured it was time I got myself registered over here and say hello. So...hello! Just wanted to pop in and assure you guys that I've not disappeared and that my fervor for this community is just as high as it's ever been (probably higher, if I'm being honest). The reason for this is that I've been very hard at work behind the scenes over the last few weeks and although I might not be posting 20+ times a day I still lurk and pop into the forums to post daily in addition to collating and organizing feedback and all that fun stuff.
So what's got me so jazzed up? We just welcomed aboard a new member of the team named George Kelion. George will be helping to head up the community team in the office and in the brief period of time (two days now) that I've worked with him, I can tell you that I'm very excited about what he's going to bring to the table. You know all those community ideas and requests that you've been voicing and that I've been laying some preliminary groundwork on? Now that this groundwork is put in place, coupled with the fact that George and I will be partnering up on all this, means that we'll finally be able to get the ball rolling on so many things; things that I've been mentioning and working on regularly over the past few months. They're now very close to getting put in place. I know that it might seem a bit ridiculous of me to ask for even more of your patience, but do know that some great things are brewing on the community side of things right now and that having George in place will mean that you'll have yet another individual on the team that's going to support this community in some really great ways which will, in turn, help support the game itself by making sure your voice and feedback impacts the game in the way that it should.
Also, George will be making a proper introduction sometime next week. We just wanted to get a few preliminary things taken care of first as we wanted to make sure we actually had something to show for our efforts when he introduced himself, as opposed to just a well intentioned introduction. He joined us only yesterday, so yesterday was primarily dedicated to getting him settled into the office and attending some preliminary meetings and saying hello to team members and getting his desk sorted and all that fun stuff (in addition to me personally trying to resist pulling any 'first day' pranks on him). Today's only his second day on the job and he's wanting to get as familiar with the game as possible, which I'm sure we can all agree makes perfect sense. Over the next few days and week we'll be pulling many late nights to get him registered in all the various communities, getting him proper access set up, and more importantly discussing some community initiatives and ideas that have been brewing for a while.
Anyhow, just wanted to assure you that I've still been hard at work and that you guys aren't rid of me yet and, even better, we've added another team member whose sole job is to work with and support the GODUS community. On the development side of things I know that you've all been waiting for a handful of weeks for the next update and we hope to have more to share on this soon. On the community side of things, George will be introducing himself and getting to know you all more closely next week. I know it's been a bit of a wait, and I genuinely understand that you guys are anxious, but some really great stuff is just around the corner. Talk is cheap, I know, but I can't tell you how excited I am to see some of this community stuff finally coming to a head and we'll have some proof in the proverbial pudding very soon. Thanks again for your patience, your candid thoughts, and your passion in wanting to see GODUS reach its fullest potential. See you around the community!

Well... thanks for posting, Matthew. I guess this answers the question "what happened to Matthew" so there's one question directed at 22Cans that got a definitive answer.
"hard at work behind the scenes" "very excited about what he's going to bring to the table" "laying some preliminary groundwork" "get the ball rolling" "great things are brewing" "making sure you voice and feedback impacts the game in the way it should"
Do you see what I'm getting at here? In so far as this is all more of the same sales-patter we've had before, for many, many months? I know you acknowledge this, but you acknowledging it doesn't make it less tiresome.
It sounds like George Kelion is going to be the same thing to us that Sam was, except Sam wasn't able to do it so we got you, except that didn't work out so now we've got George...
Are stickers here to stay? Will Godus be playable offline? What is 22Cans' response to the negative reviews appearing on credible sites such as Eurogamer? What's going on with the promised distribution of the development roadmap? Why does a team of 3+ designated community-hands need months of preparation in order to answer the most basic, straight-forward of questions? Can a dev not be allocated a few hours a week to do this? It would surely be a cheaper solution for the company. It would also get around the "devs won't tell us anything!" excuse that is peddled to every question raised.

Hi everyone,...George Kelion.... going to bring to the table... See you around the community! Howdy. I appreciate your being here. Tell them, "hi, welcome.", please. Bringing a scrapping of the P2W touch screen, utterly dumbed down, insultingly offensive, and kindergarten age mechanics resulting from the "bait and switch" to a mobile game?
