Hey people! While at first it may sound banal it actually is not. Not at all. Well, I'm not a hippie, at least not that kind of hippie most people may think of, but it really worries me and this year it's really bad. There's an organisation called "Pollinis" based in Brussels which started a campaign collecting (digital) signatures. Also they made a video. ( it's the german link, but there's the possibility to change the language in the upper right corner) So, if don't mind about a few minutes of your life just watch it and maybe you are willing to become a part of this campaign. Thanks in advance for your time. Regards

The link is wrong.
Also, in Russia we have bees even beyond the Polar circle.

I wouldn't consider myself a hippie, but I do believe in being responsible caretakers of our Earth. That said, it is quite sad just how cavalier and careless we are with many of our natural resources, especially a living one that does far more good for us than most of us realize.

My cousin started keeping bees as a hobby when he was a boy, now he manages bees across four states in America, so these issues definitely hit close to home. I'm thinking about doing the same! I'm owner of a beautiful and large grassed area! The sad thing is that we are dependent by large corporations, which are only interested in making money and increasing their profit,no matter which area of industry or market economy. The impression one has is that you can't do anything as an individual, so people hold back and it only gets worse unfortunately. I just wonder why it always has to be soo difficult. Money?! Ts... When you die, you can't take it with you anyway! So the question is: What are you leaving behind and above all: in which condition?

Bee Movie made me feel guilty above loving honey.

Well, to be honest, honey is the bees' fuel to stay alive outside the tropics, so it is ethically questionable to take it from them.

Well, to be honest, honey is the bees' fuel to stay alive outside the tropics, so it is ethically questionable to take it from them. But if we don't take the honey the bees will stop pollinating and everything will die. We know it's true because it is in the movie.

A good keeper only takes a percentage of the honey, leaving enough for the bees to utilize for food in the cooler months; they know this from experience and also other experienced cultivators. Humans have been collecting honey for a millenia, and only in the last few centuries has corporate influence been slowly eroding the practice. Much of the reasons why our presence is adversely affecting nature is due largely to our lack of knowing (ignorance) how the effects would manifest over time - we cannot know until we know. Basically, we mostly never thought to consider long-term effects. We allow both greed and our urgency to survive supersede caution and research for longevity, or environmental impact. We're still a very young intelligent species (granted without a proper frame of reference for measuring scale of intelligence and development) and are figuring this all out as we go; mistakes will be made, we just hope to catch and correct before it's too late. And often we bump heads in the process.

Speak for yourself. I have all the capacity I need. Already planning sitting on a porch on my old age watching the sun set in a warm country with a cold beer.

And do you mean as a whole entirety of a species, or individually? I've met a few folks whom seem capable of seeing, or at least considering, many potentialities of outcomes, and investing time to prepare and research into them. And there are many organizations that attempt to do this as well.

Well, now it seems you're talking about absolute predictive control, but there are too many chaotic variables to conclude outcomes with flawless accuracy; no matter how pragmatic and calculating your methodology. That's an unfair oversimplification to expect.
