Take to the Stars in The UniversimNathaniel LilesI’m not usually gripped by a specific Kickstarter, I’m usually just generally supportive of the idea of getting your ideas out there. When that idea becomes something cool, then I get excited. Right now, however, I’m a little excited about a project called The Universim. God games have been out of vogue for a while, and people have started to miss them, so they’re coming back. Of all the comings back The Universim, child of Crytivo Games, looks like the one you would be best served keeping an eye on. The official Kickstarter video for The Universim is, I admit, a good chunk of the reason I was initially excited, but once I dug into the details on Kickstarter (of which there are many), I discovered that The Universim is offering more. It’s a classic society building game where you make your way from big silly cavemen to big silly space men. As you move through the ages, new things become available and new things happen. City building looks very detailed in concept art, allowing you to build dense cities. After your city is the absolute epitome of success and advanced civilization, you move on to another planet to suck it dry of resources. There’s a wealth of information I don’t have room for, but I thought I should add that The Universim will be completely DRM and Microtransaction-free. All DLCs will also be available in free updates, and you don’t have to be online to play. To read more about what makes this project what it is, you can visit Kickstarter, vote on Steam Greenlight, or even back the project via PayPal.
