Every now and then someone (usually on the Steam forums) asks a question about Godus and whether they should or shouldn't buy it and why. The two threads Overview of development so far and A collection of useful info threads are very useful, but are quite extensive, and require some time to fully understand the situation, since they consist of a large number of forum posts. It would be nice to gave a go-to composition which would contain the general views and experience from the community in one place. I think it might be worth considering creating a document (a wiki of sorts) which contains information about project Godus written in plain text. Something one could share with someone who has questions about the game and its development (e.g. "These are the facts and that's our experience").

I was thinking of something similar to the email Gmr Leon sent to RPS some months ago which would summarise the situation and serve as an introduction to a more or less concise text which would include information about the following:

What was promised
Overview of development and community management
What we have now compared to what we expected and what was promised
What can be expected in the future (more or less subjective speculation based on experience)

There's probably no need to mention everything, because the posts by Gmr Leon and mandrake already exist.

I would do it myself (or at least start something), but I wasn't here from the beginning and I sometimes fail to get the point across, probably due to English not being my first language.
I realise that something like that is going to take some time, but if people agree and have the time we could slowly put something together.

What do you think?

While such a document may be useful to newcomers, it's not really necessary so long as people are still willing to show up and take the time to post about the situation.

Take the thread ( should i get the game? ) for instance, it really doesn't take too much time or effort to convey the current situation to newbies.

The pc version of Godus was a cash grab to fund their mobile release. The developers were found out by the gaming press and despite considerable investment in PR their reputation is in tatters. Due to the media attention they are unable to completely abandon the game, and so have reduced the development of PC Godus to a skeleton crew while they work on their next mobile game. My advice would be to look elsewhere.

Over the past 3 years the company has spent more attention on deleting and banning than production of a PC game.
While the cash shop is hidden in the PC version ATM, godus is otherwise almost indistinguishable from the free mobile version.
There is a great deal of lip service about how that shall change but little evidence that they are going to do anything but layer a minigame skirmish mode on top of the mobile mechanics, freemium casual resources, and playschool tech tree.
No one honest has any faith that there shall ever be any "god" aspect forthcoming from this disreputable company.

This is also practically the only type of legitimate conversation that remains over on the steam forums anymore, do we really want a document that once posted answers all the users questions, leaving the community nothing else to talk about, making that place more of a ghost town than it already is?

putting myself in a newbies shoes, as there really isn't any resource to turn to for quickly getting upto speed, I think i'd at least appreciate such a document. Something that quickly summarises, the current situation, the state of the game, and points out the issues that the community has had with 22 cans throughout development. It would be too daunting a task, expecting anyone to have to read through countless threads, spread across multiple forums, over many years. Just to try to piece together the history of what has happened (made especially difficult, if not impossible, with all the censorship, thread deletion, and sock puppeting that's already taken place). No one (except a masochist perhaps[/i) is going to force themselves though all those hours of godus vids, just to get the authentic experience that everyone else has had, where you see the progression change from promise and optimism into deception, failure and betrayal (the trail).
TL:DR, I think such a document would be very helpful, if not outright necessary by this point in time. Though it may result in a drying up of debate/conversation.

Well, I think such document may be very useful. As long as you actually find the time to assemble it, we can either link it into those threads, further decreasing the time required for an answer, or use it as a base for a long-needed lawsuit.
