So who has tried this game:
store.steampowered.com/app/346900/?snr=1_5_9__205
It is insanely addictive. We complain about GODUS being a cow clicker but when I sit down and play this game I don't want to stop. I swear it is the software version of crack. I feel like they perfectly nailed the free to play formula. It is not fun or clever and it doesn't hide what it is, its the free to play version of watching a clock. The mechanics are so simple and so obvious but I just want to keep going and going and going......
I'd love to hear what others think.

I like: Cats; single malt Scotch; Stargate; Amiga; fried potatoes; retro gaming; cheese; snickers; sticky tape.
I don't like: Dimples in the bottom of scotch bottles; Facebook games masquerading as godgames.
Steam: stonelesscutter
GOG: stonelesscutter

Is it better than Cookie Clicker?

I play it on kongergate. I have wondered how much different if is from the one on steam. I finde I only play Idle games for the most part on kongergate anymore. This, Realm Grinder and Swarm Simulator are my go to Idle games right now. I have run across a couple of other interesting ones that have some interesting ideas. Who would have figured people would come up with so many different ways of doing an Idle game.

By idle games I presume you mean pointless wastes of time which inexplicably turn out to be fun.

No an idle game is the term for games that have off line progress and only require a minimum of input from you. Cookie clicker is considered an idle game because you have to click only long enough to get the auto production upgrades. You can then log off and just check back every now and again to buy more upgrades or you can click to increase your progress.

A simple, stupid, free little timewaster that really isn't doing anything to hurt its audience.
I suppose that experience is what they are offering so that it delivers a better feeling in playing it; a guilt-free experience with no Cliffski Brand Buyer's Remorse.
You're not getting screwed. You're not getting fed fraud and lies. You're not getting dubious gameplay. Okay, it's a little stupid at times. Sometimes you can forgive that, especially if it's Postal 2. You're not getting anything but what is there on the box and you're getting it for free.
Welcome to a form of Zen gaming, where the gaming is actually meditative (and a bit of where Godus has nudged it with the sculpting...somewhat, could use a bit more). I find tower defense games to offer something of that experience to me as I just roll numbers in my head about DPS fields and whatnot while ruminating upon some matter.
"Introducing AdVenture Capitalist - the game you play while playing other, better games!"
Honest...and I have a few of titles that serve this kind of purpose, like Turbo Dismount, Creeper World 3, Plague Inc: Evolved, Puzzle Quest, Puzzle Quest: Galactrix, Shoot Many Robots, Little Inferno, World of Goo (giggidy, giggidy), etc. A bunch of titles that aren't too involved but are lightweight enough to put behind another game when that dungeon or battleground queue you've been waiting for a half hour finally pops.
