I haven't heard that, but i've not read/listened to all the Godus stuff so you could well be right. I know they send off a lot of analytics/info from the game, but I thought that was one-way traffic? It'd be somewhat worrying if they are running some bits off their servers and not doing the time from it.

I was under the impression that the simulation was continuously running on the server already even though we're not hooked up to eachother yet. Perhaps the 22Cans community guys could shed some light onto this. The goal is to get the world always living and moving on whilst you’re away from it. This means progress of building, breeding and belief generation, but also weather events such as storms and trees growing already occur at any time even when you’re not there. Currently nothing you do will affect anything in other worlds, however. Once you get to Hubworld you will share a land with other gods and you will all be affecting those worlds together, so when you go away and come back other gods will have affected things, plus your trading will still be making progress even when no-one is watching. We also plan for global events that will affect everyone’s worlds together simultaneously.

So right now the progress that is being made in my land when I'm not around is not being maintained by the server? So when starting Godus it checks to see how much time has passed and then calculates the amounts of crops and ore that should have been generated?

The server is keeping a save of your game and keeping track of your belief etc as well as measuring gameplay for our analytics so we can tune the game when people are getting stuck etc. The server checks since you’ve last played and the world continues as if it never stopped when you were away.

So to come back to the earlier point on this thread, if the server is keeping track of this kind of thing, why is it that changing your system clock changes the build time of shrines and expansion totems? I don't know if anyone has actually ever submitted a bug report for it, but it may well be worth passing on to someone or checking with the server people if they have a way to stop it happening.

Yes that might be good idea for the community people to check with the devs. Perhaps the server requests a users system time when the game loads. I don't see why it would though.

I've checked with Jack and he's informed me that's a bug.
