Did anyone else here back the Torment: Tides of Numenera game on Kickstarter? I pledged on one of the 'digital copy' tiers, but am now considering adding beta/early access add-on since its now available on Steam. However, I'm on the fence about it; On one hand, it's definitely a game I will play and likely enjoy - on the other hand, I'm a bit burned out on early access because obvious reasons. Likewise, I still have many games in my library that I haven't even touched yet - like Cities: Skylines- or have yet to complete - like Pillars of Eternity (which I also backed). I've been looking forward to playing this game for ages, and the idea that people (whom didn't back it) are playing it RIGHT NOW, and I'm afraid it'll all get spoiled before I can even play;as did much of PoE. Of course, currently I don't have much time to play, but for some reason this is bothering me.

I did. I have gone through the player "Creation" and a bit of the first dialog. Interesting so far. Like you I have that pile of games that I need to be finishing.

I feel ridiculous complaining about this - it's such a minor thing really, and very "first-world" entitlement - but it's just how I feel for some reason. I've been waiting patiently for a few years now, and it's just out of reach.

Well I can say I think it is worth the wait. I think the system they picked fits the game well and even thought it is not a planescape game it feels very much like a sequential.

I backed it, but won't touch it while it's in beta. I just don't like the idea of beta testing an rpg of this sort. I'll do the same when Bard's Tale comes out as well.

Thanks for the feedback. Taking it all into consideration has helped, and I've decided to hold off and wait for full release.

I backed the Kickstarter, and I'm really, really looking forward to it. But yeah, I didn't opt for the beta access & I'm gonna wait.
Now, if it was using the 13th Age system as opposed to Numenera, I probably would try out the beta, only because I've played & really like 13th Age. So I'd be curious how they're translating the rules to a CRPG. But I haven't had a chance to play Numenera yet, so I wouldn't have a point of reference. I do own the book, though, and it seems like a really neat system & a crazy interesting world.

They are playing crazy close to the Numenera system. For character creation, first you are offered choices that build up your Speed,Mental, and Physical pools. Then you get to pick your affinities to the, I forget what they called the different pillars. I am not sure how it really affects you yet, but I assume it will some where down the line. Then you get to pick your class and 2 skills, if I remember correctly. It is done in an interesting way, and there is enough there to guide your self down a certain path if if you like, at lest with your stat pools. I am sure there is a lot of hidden things behind your choices that will come out later in the game.
