Peter Molyneux returns to Godus with RTS updateWar never changes. As I suspected , fluff. They could have done some serious retrospective investigative journalism, but... nope. Instead we get another safe article that just lets them get away with 12 months of shit development and community abuse. Abysmal. Instead they gloss over it all with these fluff pieces. Someone there at 22Cans either has scarry connections to the mob, is royalty, seriously deep pockets, or gives out the most mind-blowing BJ's cupcakes ever.

On one hand I kind of like the Spin the world and hear people cry in fear, the Friggen laser shooting from my eyes...... not so much.

Looking at what little commentary they make on Molyneux doing his soap box sob story of self-doubt from all the bullys, almost giving up but searching deep down within ones self to come out a better improved man... with a game he wants you to buy. It does very much read like one of the conditions was "Just play along with Molyneux and give him his soap box". But at least they had the decency to have editorial include clarifications on the lies Molyneux spouted about what RPS journalists did and didn't say about him. Edit: Ah, same press site, different article my mistake. One is Molyneux's soap box the other is... seemingly some fluff piece they told 22Cans they would write alongside getting the Molyneux Soap box gig. I'll have to try the game to judge it but my fears are:
I can't play it because sculpting is still RSI inducing (let me know if they've fixed that).
After 12 months there isn't enough change. From the pictures the work doesn't seem to measure up to the time.
Is there any economy to it other than belief? If it's just breeding, sculpting and belief I'm not very interested.
The AI only combat will be a limiting factor. I'll be very interested to see how capable the AI is.
That is all I have for now.

Anyway: www.pcgamer.com/godus-hopes-to-rekindle-faith-with-godus-wars/Hey, I enjoy a good "Phoenix Rising" tale of redemption, second chances, and self-actualization - I'm not a heartless monster - because they give us hope that WE actually have a chance, too. It's just that they {Eurogamer} had a chance to cover the abandonment and community abuse a bit more in-depth, to really get the grit of how awful things have been, instead of just allowing, and propagating, the "rebirth" rhetoric to obfuscate all the past indiscretions. Instead, it was exactly what we suspected it would be; a PR stunt to highlight both Peter's "new man" praising and Godus' rejuvenation as an RTS Risk-Like battle game. Nothing more. Very disappointing. And its really hard to believe anything that comes from Peter as honesty or humble sincerity. As an optimist, it's hard for me not to try and see the best in people, and genuinely hope that Peter has turned over a new leaf; but come on. We've seen this before. Over and over. Its tiresome. And I don't fall for it anymore.

That is just it. If they did rake him over the coals other companies would be afraid to do interviews with them and that is there bread and butter. I know they called him on a few things, at least for the readers to see. But I do tend to agree that my option is colored and I was looking for a little more pitchfork and torch.

Keys... that I'm sure are NOT going to be available to purchase... with Gems... nope... never. Economy indeed. Although perhaps when they get around to shoe-horning Godus Wars into Godus Vanilla one will play off the other.

Well here's a line from the Eurogamer interview that can be beautifully misread.
"I don't have time to be honest with you."

To be fair, Eurogamer did allow PM to say...well...something...
It's now sinking harder than Godus because people didn't want to play an RTS in Godus, they wanted the damn god game they were sold in the first place...

Oh wow... what in the actual $*#&.... (emphasis added) GameSpot Article "Godus Wars will also feature 50 different unit types, including archers and catapults, while players can use eight different "God Powers" to lay waste to their enemies or protect their people. For the Early Access version of Godus Wars, however, there is only a limited amount of content. This was outlined on the game's Steam page: First continent included as standard - Second continent available unlock-able via premium add-on. Over 70 unique and deformable levels 4 playable Deities with a range of abilities 2 base unit types - Archers & Catapults 20 cards with 10 power levels! 2 Deity opponents Original Godus included"

DLC already planned as part of a title's second foray into the Early Access program.
Truly, at 22cans, no f***s are given...

Is this developed in Unity and without Maramalade do we know? It's definitely still marmalade, or at least marmalade is what my firewall decided to block when we tried to start a battle godus.boards.net/thread/1333/godus-wars-journey. There's a dual window thing going on when you try to start a battle, so maybe the main menu is done in Unity and battles take place on Marmalade?

Thanks! You know, a really funny, interesting recurring criticism I'm noticing from that article and Jim Sterling's recent playthrough is that the game does a pitiful job indicating that you ought to always be sculpting and opening the land for your people. When I've been playing Godus Wars, perhaps from my traumatized and damaged brain from playing far too much of Godus, I've always been sculpting. Not because I find it terribly pleasant, mind you, but because it's literally the only other thing to do in the game as you await the accrual of belief to establish a citadel to then pop out troops to smash things. People that are sitting there simply waiting on the belief to accrue instead of expanding outward are absolutely nuts to me, through no fault of their own really, but let's be real here, that was the name of the game in Populous. It was as much a god game as it was a fill the map with your little people game. Godus Wars, as incredibly simplistic as it is, oddly enough gets that much of it right. Completely fucking misses the god part, of course, but certainly captures the old fill the map with crummy little buildings to generate belief to do anything part.
