Thought it might be fun to guess when the next update for Godus/Godus Wars will actually arrive. So when do you guys think the next update will be? I think it's safe to say it won't be before the summer

I'm assuming you mean a content update for the game rather than a community update.
My guess is late november early december. Probably the latter.

That is what I meant The worrying thing is both of your guesses seem plausible This game had such promise once :,(

Re-writing the whole Godus (sans Wars) in the new engine code so they can integrate them. 2016-2017 Next, the other missing parts etc. 2017 -2018
Not holding my breath.

I'm assuming you mean a content update for the game rather than a community update. Even so you have to be careful about defining that, as they might pull out the opt-in branch as updates again (Chucklefish loved to do this, too).

I'm 100% okay with them putting out updates on the opt-in branch. I wish they'd held to their promise to do more of those. I'd rather see more frequent but buggy updates than infrequent but more stable ones.

I'd rather see more frequent but buggy updates than infrequent but more stable ones. So I do have to wonder...they couldn't paywall/"circus tent"* the opt-ins, or did they start to divert too far from the public narrative like the "Updates" did for months before the lovely surprise of Godus Wars? * - Hiding a product's true state/content/condition from the public until they pay and see what they really bought, a marketing tactic that relies on as many being as hyped for a product but actually unaware of the product's contents until they have bought it and played beyond any return timers (bonus if your software is buggy enough do keep the game "running" beyond that time - Chucklefish again). Shady game publishers liken it to "opened product" but then seem to forget that they previously used "you're only purchasing a license" to loophole out of other consumer laws. One of these days we'll have them in a corner they can't dodge out of.

I'll guess at least one update this spring, just because it's so fresh in the public eye they'll have to "appear" to be doing something - and then when they think the heat is off, they'll go silent again until next autumn/winter as per usual. Maybe they'll prove us wrong.

At the very least I'm guessing they'll put out a re-balancing patch based off of Steam Forum feedback to prove "that it worked" by Summer. Other than that... now that they've backtracked on paywalls small fees, I don't think they'll be in quite as much of a rush to churn out "Premium Content" so I'm not quite sure what their next move will be. TBH I'm much more excited how the efforts of Gmr Leon, Spiderweb, and the like will bend the game to their will and produce something fun, if they're still up for another round, of course.

You know, that's a good point; what is their next development step? When do you think we'll see any kind of development roadm... hahahahaha. I can't even finish that sentence.

Who will be able to develop new assets faster? Nah...that would be unfair. Which reminds me, does the Workshop still...wait a moment, something's f***y... There is still a Workshop for Godus, but none for Godus Wars. 22cans even stopped caring about those who were modding the game into something a bit better, and who were at one time the only person to have entered into a PC Community Contest - at the community's suggestion - but had to disqualify themselves on the merit that they were the only entrant. There's the word I was looking for, what Godus Wars is to the Godus franchise; Replacement.

Actually, we do know that. From the eurogamer interview: But last time they actually announced a roadmap they got sidetracked before they finished #1 (Hubworld??) so what the next update contains is anybody's guess.

I would give it a go if they release all the additional combat (wars) stuff, but don't think it's compatible with the original, I wonder if they'll enable Godus wars map editing but I doubt it. I think the really successful games for modding have released the game editor which seems to be polished (valves hammer editor was good).
