As greay observed in an earlier post, there is currently a thread on the Godus Wars Technical Support boards (on Steam, the officially supported channel) where 5 users, over the course of 3 weeks, report a game-breaking bug in the Godus Wars GUI. In order to play a battle in Godus Wars, you have to select the territory on the map then click the 'unlock' button that pops up. These users report that for the very first map of the first continent, this button pops up behind other graphics on the screen and cannot be clicked, rendering the whole game unplayable. I was curious because I did not encounter this problem during my playthrough, so I loaded up Godus Wars to take a look. The first thing I noticed (I don't know if this is new or if I just didn't spot it before) is that the text resolution in the pop-up boxes is shit. As you can see in this screenshot, the text "This land is not joined to an unlocked land" in the central blue box is incredibly blurry. I was not able to reproduce the problem immediately. The users reported that the 'unlock' graphic was hidden behind the left-hand deity banner. I tried each of the other deities, in case the graphic changes in a meaningful way. This was not the problem. Then I tried full-screen vs. windowed. No luck. Then I messed with the resolutions. Bingo. This problem occurs when the screen resolution is set to 1440 x 900. This troubleshooting took me all of 5 minutes. How long did it take 22Cans to solve this problem, or even thank their paying customers for reporting it? Three weeks and counting, as they are ignoring the thread.

You'd think they'd test their game in various resolutions before releasing it.

Well, this is certainly some seriously amateurish game design development and management. The shear incompetence is astounding.

Well, this is certainly some seriously amateurish game design development and management. The shear incompetence is astounding. Particularly if you consider that graphical anomalies of this nature are a known issue in Godus Wars, so you might have expected the developers/testers to be hyper-vigilant. See the second bullet-point on the " known bugs" list.

This is what happens when: -You hire inexperienced employees and don't institute any sort of training or consistent guidance. -You hire said employees on a codebase that at this point is probably a trainwreck to all but the most familiar (and even if it weren't, practically all piles of code look that way to the unfamiliar and especially the inexperienced). -You crash your ratings so heavily into the ground that 98% of anyone doesn't give a damn, and the remaining 2% are split into polarized positions of, "How the FUCK are you digging deeper?" and, "They haven't dug that deeply, c'mon, they can still fill in the hole," resulting in the best motivation to halfass everything. -You're doing all this while (almost) inexplicably failing to have produced anything to keep your company in the black, resulting in you spending more time trying to scrape whatever you can together to keep going independently. Thus making games, which should be at the forefront and center, becomes sidelined by company politics.

That is god damn disgusting. For anyone who still cares, there IS a "broken" option under the flag button on the store page. I've already reported it and given links to both this thread and the tech support thread demonstrating the 22cans has not only sold a broken, untested, unplayable game but they also failed to respond to multiple user complaints for a month.
