Update 81 - 01/08/2014Coming Soon to Godus… New & Improved FeaturesAs you’re no doubt aware (especially if you’re amongst the forum regulars with whom we speak on a daily basis), the forthcoming Settlements revamp is actually a much bigger, more involving update than just fixing the issues previously outlined in this article on our blog. Today, we’re sharing details of just a few of the visual improvements on which we’ve been working over the last month-and-a-half and we’ll be following up with details about some of the new features and functions soon. Funky shadowsAccording to their coder, Fabs, this is a technical term. Currently, the version of Godus you’ve been playing looks something like this towards the start of your game: Following the forthcoming update, your Homeworld will look more similar to this: Fabs, who implemented the projected shadows into the game, describes them in his own words: “On console, it’s quite easy to do gorgeous shadows – you will normally use cool things like Gbuffers, or perspective shadow maps, or even make it easy on yourself and use stencils, but creating a game for mobile devices makes things a bit more challenging. We wanted to make something that both looked beautiful and also wouldn’t use up all your battery life. Like all successful game development, it is a matter of finding appropriate workarounds, and we let the art department really get involved in it by having something similar to decals on the land, leaving procedural generation of shadows only on the landscape itself. That’s why, when you get hold of the update and have a look for yourself, you’ll see the land edges look more organic than the shadows on the houses. All in all, the whole effect is quite convincing, and I’d say that we probably take a tiny fraction of CPU time of any other more advanced, or accurate shadowing system out there.” Timeline 3.0Ah, the timeline. This is something that we really wanted to make more functional, clearer to follow and enjoyable to use. We weren’t as happy as we’d like to have been with the version that’s currently in the game, which looks like this: So, our first attempt was to split the timeline in two, with distinct areas for cards you’d discovered and for which you were gathering stickers to unlock, and those cards yet to be brought into your game. While this may have improved functionality, we thought it was a bit messy and not particularly visually exciting. So, back to the work: We really liked this one. This version added a switch allowing you to toggle between undiscovered and completed cards, enabling you to track your progress and see what additional abilities you’ve unlocked. We also created a version that used an image of Homeworld instead of a photograph: Both attempts looks a lot prettier than the examples given above too, however we wanted the planes for undiscovered and in-progress cards to feel more connected and look visually cohesive. So, on to the next try: We’re really happy with this design. We think it makes your progress much easier to track, allows you to focus on which aspects of the game you’d like to unlock next much more easily… and it hits the visual fidelity mark we were looking to hit. Tony, who implemented and animated the timeline, has this to say: “I can’t stand boxes. I’ve already spent too much of my life making bloomin’ boxes with text in. The timeline pleases me no end, taking what could have been a rubbish spreadsheet and instead making something vibrant and full of motion. The goal here is to make something that gives you all the information you need, but is in and of itself fun to play with.” Dynamic waterThis has been a long time coming. You’ve been wanting it, we’ve been wanting to make it and now it’s finally in the game. We think that flowing water helps make your Homeworld come alive and makes the landscape feel much more active. Have a look at the clip below to see water flowing in Godus. At present, you can sculpt the water to form rivers and waterfalls. We’ve got lots of ideas on how dynamic water can impact gameplay and we’re looking forward to exploring that in future updates to the game. The naming of thingsExclusively for PC players, the forthcoming update will bring with it the ability to uniquely personalise your Homeworld by allowing you to name individual Followers, Abodes and Settlements. To say that we’re looking forward to seeing all the weird and wonderful ways you use (and abuse) this feature is a gross understatement. Rest assured that this isn’t the only PC-exclusive feature we’ve been dreaming up lately and we’re looking forward to sharing more details once our ideas have taken shape. More to follow next week!Keep an eye on the blog for more updates to follow next week. In the meantime, please feel free to speak up in our forums.

Update 82 - 07/08/2014Godus – the Regenesis of the God Game Now Available Worldwide on iOSToday is an overwhelmingly exciting day for us here at 22cans. It is our great pleasure to announce the worldwide release of Godus on the iOS App Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. You can download the game for free by following this link: Godus’ App Store pageHere’s how our very own chief creative, Peter Molyneux, describes the game on touchscreen devices: “In Godus your hands will sculpt the mountains and carve rivers. Your touch will create pastures for your people. You will be loved by tiny worshippers that need your help to grow and your direction to progress through the ages of civilization. Power comes to you through influence, and your miracles guide the forces of nature. You must decide whether to use such awesome power for good or ill. As you progress through the game you will find history hidden in the land through mysterious artefacts that uncover the true story behind your Followers. By journeying to far off lands to complete quests, you will bring back powerful abilities for your ever-gracious people. I’m fascinated to see how players wield such powers on mobile.” Godus’ gameplay will evolve over time. Future updates will put more powers in the hands of its players, where the outcomes will be as unpredictable as they are thrilling. Moving forward, Godus will connect gamers to a seemingly endless world where they will clash with rival gods, compete in live challenges, and unlock surprising new abilities to advance their primitive population to modernity. Check out our new trailer for the game below: How to ask for helpIf you run into any problems or glitches with Godus on iOS, or if you just have a question you’d like to ask, please check out our FAQs via Support.22cans.com/ – you’ll also be able to contact our dedicated tech support team through there by submitting a new question. We’ve also launched a dedicated forum and Facebook page for Godus on mobile – check out the end of this post on our blog for details: Contribute to the Godus wiki for loot & glory!PC update and Twitch livestreamWe will be releasing the hotly anticipated Settlements revamp update to the main branch of Steam tomorrow, Friday 8th August. Be sure to look out for details appearing here on our blog then, including information about the glorious new PC-exclusive feature first hinted about in this tweet. Additionally, our very own Matthew Allen will be conducting a marathon livestream of all the juicy new gameplay we’ve brought to Godus next Monday, August 11th, on our official Twitch channel – we’ll be confirming the exact kick off time for the livetstream in tomorrow’s blog post. So, all the remains to be said is that we’ll probably be spending the next 12 hours glued to our screen, frantically F5’ing the App Store page to see just how Godus lands on mobile. Onwards!

Update 83 - 08/08/2014Introducing Godus’ new, improved Settlements for PC & MacToday we are releasing the hotly anticipated Settlements revamp for PC and Mac to the main branch of Steam. It’s worth mentioning up-front that this will require you to restart your game, however the upside of that is that you’ll get to play our rather charming new intro sequence, first described here: What are we working on right now?Settlements 3.0Following the release of v2.0.5, we quickly recognised that players found Godus’ Settlements mechanics unintuitive and, well, just not as fun as they ought to be. So, a core group of us went away and brainstormed a few solutions to this dilemma and in the process, we rediscovered some of our original ideas and are now working very hard to bring them to fruition. Today, we’re presenting the gameplay details for how the new Settlements work in full and better yet, you’ll be able to play with them first-hand not long after you’ve finished reading this article. Please be aware that some of the images below are mock-ups from our design doc – we know you like to see our thought processes, which is why we’ve reproduced them below, however they really do look a lot nicer in-game. Check out this selection of screenshots to see what we mean: Overview to new the Settlements- Once your followers have reached the Bronze Age and are about to establish farming via the Farming card, you will be introduced to the Settlements menu.
- Selecting the “Farming Village” card will create a ring in the game indicating where you would like to place a farming settlement.
- Once placed, all abodes within this ring will draw in to each other and be squished together. Once squished together, they act just like a single abode, inspiring your followers to become workers and even generating belief as well.
- When your followers reach the Iron Age and you have unlocked the Mining card, you will find your mining settlements will function in the same way.
Creating new SettlementsWhen placing a new settlement, you’ll be able to physically squish all your abodes together either through dragging with the cursor (or by pinching your thumb and forefinger together on mobile). We hope this new tactility not just gives the game a bit more visual flair, but also makes you feel more powerful and god-like too. If there is an obstacle restricting the spread of a settlement across the land, such as a field, then affected abodes are placed on top of the squished structure. Once squished together, your abodes will function as a single unit. You can continue to build up a squished settlement by placing additional settlement rings nearby and dragging the selected abodes into the larger clump. Settlements on hills and valleysThe new settlements have been designed to be built over different layers of land, so you can place a settlement on terrain made up of different heights. We really hope that this will lead to players having much more distinctive and beautiful looking Homeworlds. If the centre of your settlement sits on a higher layer of land than an outlying abode, then provided there is enough space the abode will be pulled up onto a higher layer, sitting closer to the larger clump of settlements. If there isn’t enough room on a higher layer of land for an abode to be pulled closer, then it will be placed on top of the larger, central clump of abodes. Governing farms and farmersThe new design also improves the way you find out about your settlements and assign work to your followers. Farms and mines now work the same way as builder settlements – if there’s an empty plot of land nearby, an icon will appear over the clump of abodes. Selecting the clump will then send out a farmer to turn it into a field for producing wheat. You no longer have to manually assign roles within a settlement – for example, once you’ve placed a farming settlement and its population has grown to a sufficient size, all the new workers will be farmers from birth. We’ve made improvements to how you find out how your settlements are working, too. Fields now display context sensitive information when selected, allowing you to see how many farmers are working on it, whether there are any spare slots for additional workers and the time until the next crop is produced. Growing and harvesting cropsWe’ve also improved the way you generate food for your followers. We’ve made it much easier to understand that your followers need wheat to build abodes once you’ve unlocked the card that speeds up how fast they can build. Fields then produce wheat as a collectable resource. The wheat that players collect from fields is then accumulated into the Wheat bar. Farmers and miners need food to work, just like builders need food to build. When farming, mining or building, wheat is consumed and the bar decreases. We’ve replaced the buffer class of follower with the god-like ability to boost farmers and miners directly by selecting them, just like builders. We think this is a much a clearer, more cohesive and all-round more fun way to play with settlements. The pit of DOOOOOOOOM(We loosely based this feature on the Steam forums… JUST KIDDING!) Over the course of the development of this update, it quickly became apparent that it was no longer possible to appropriately balance the game on PC with simple files changes. While we’ve reduced the time it takes for fields to generate crops and reinforcements times on Voyages, we also chose to create a brilliantly bonkers new feature. It is our pleasure to introduce you to the pit of doom: The pit of doom is located towards the start of the game. It enables you to sacrifice the lives of your unwitting followers in exchange for gems by leashing them to this gruesome monument. Gems will allow you to manually tweak how quickly you progress through the game, allowing you to redeem them for extra belief, resources (wheat and ore) or stickers. What’s that? Gems, we hear your gasp? Well, before you get all breathless, please check out the image below: We understand that some gods are impatient to progress, and so the pit of doom allows you to earn gems at the cost of great suffering by your followers. We hope this delights everyone who has been clamouring for the ability to inflict cruelty onto their devoted tribe. The pit of doom is not the only way to earn gems, however – completing Voyages will give you the same reward (between 10 and 30 gems), and each map along the way will give you between one and three gems. You’ll also be able to find gems hidden in chests as well as mine for them once you’ve progressed further into the game. Gems have quite the history in our community, and we recognise it isn’t an entirely rosy one. They have been seen as a cash mechanic frequently used in mobile games, and nothing more. But gems are more, much more than that. Gems have been used in games for ages, as markers denoting power and as currency. Given that we’re going for feel of gods playing with the world like it’s a table-top game, those kinds of gems make a lot of sense to us. But how to separate one kind of gem from another? The PC community has asked us to make a ‘pay-up-front’ kind of game, where there is no place for the mobile game variety of gems. But what about the table-top variety? Could that version of gems be embraced by the community? Given our iterative style of designing the game, we can but simply try. Of course, you may believe that us re-introducing gems is only a stepping stone to bringing back the gems for sale. We can only tell you that we’re aiming at an entirely different goal for gems. To be clear: we have no intention to bring a gems-for-sale option to PC. We’ve listened to your feedback on the matter. That we’re experimenting with a very different interpretation of what a gem is has nothing to do with monetising the game and it won’t be turned into that at any time in the future either. Given how strongly the PC community feels about this, we wanted to make sure you didn’t have to worry about that kind of gem-monetisation mechanic returning. PC/Mac-exclusive designer’s commentaryAs a final bonus exclusively for our PC players, you will also have the ability to listen to Peter and Jack’s commentary as you play through the latest version of Godus. Simply head to the Settings menu in the top right-hand corner of the screen and you’ll find an option allowing to hear exactly what their thought processes were and from where they drew their inspiration, as well as more than a few helpful hints and tips for the game. Marathon gameplay livestream on TwitchOur very own community rock star (and part-time Tony Stark lookalike) Matthew Allen will be conducting a marathon six-hour livestream of all the juicy new gameplay we’ve brought to Godus this Monday, August 11th, over on our official Twitch channel, starting at 5pm UK time. Be sure to come and watch him play while we man the chat room! Contribute to the Godus wiki for loot & glory! We also recently partnered with Gamepedia on what is now the official, definitive Godus wiki. We’re hoping that some of our more committed community members will help to bring this resource up to date following the release of today’s new build and in exchange, we’ll be rewarding the best contributors with limited edition swag. For more info about this, please check out this post on our blog. But really, this is just the beginningWe’ve been sprinting hard as a team to get this new functionality into your hands as quickly as we could. We hope that the new settlement designs not only address some of your concerns, but also lead to a more enjoyable and empowering Godus experience. However, Godus is still in beta and as such, is very much a work-in-progress game. We will not consider the game final until we’ve transitioned out of Early Access. Moreover, our commitment to making Godus a truly great PC game for PC gamers remains undiminished and we will be commencing our PC-focused sprint later on this year. Keep an eye out on our blog for more news about this in due course. We’re eager to hear your thoughts, so please share your impressions in either ourofficial forum, our Steam Early Access forum or the 22cans Facebook page.

Update 84 - 14/08/2014Godus v2.2 Incremental Update + Balance File Modding ToolSince releasing Godus v2.1 last Friday we’ve had a lot of really useful comments from the community (as well as more than few support requests, too). This week, we’ve been hard at work implementing a ton of changes based on this feedback. The update, released on Steam today, includes a bunch of exciting new cards, new gifts and some important bug fixes. New stuff:- New Gift: Flag – You can now put a flag pole in your world to increase happiness and look cool. More flags coming soon!
- New Gift: School of Fish – Fish can now be placed in the sea.
- New Card: Statue of Belief Collection – This new shrine periodically collects Belief within a given area and deposits it in your Belief reserves.
- New Card: Tree Buff – The tree buff upgrade card further increases the amount of belief produced by abodes in the vicinity of trees.
- New Card: Super Follower Boost – Boost your followers even more, making them work harder and longer.
Fixes:- Stopped campfires being created on top of Gem seams and Granite.
- Fix for Rock colours being wrong in some situations.
- Fix for part of the Fountain tutorial not appearing.
- Destination button in Voyages now only appears if there is at least one event to pick from.
- Happiness and Gift balancing Fixed some tooltip locations.
- Reduced Astari Fire damage, to fix bug with them being too easy to kill.
- Tree of Joy springs up out of the floor rather than being dropped.
- Gems only awarded after all Followers have climbed Pit of Doom steps.
- Fix to prevent Temples ending up in the water whilst sculpting.
- Tweaks to Happiness for homeless Followers.
- During leashing tutorial leashes, will only be accepted if they end on the layer of the Temple itself or the one under it.
- Removed camera rotation snap-back.
- Balance file tweaks.
- Settlements with courtyards now allow Followers to go back home.
- Minor colour tweaks to Trees and Beautify.
- Fixes to Mac audio when sacrificing Followers.
- New splash screen text.
- Revised colours for Trees on various landscapes.
Coming soon – mod our balance files!Probably the most frequently requested changes we make to the game by the Steam Early Access community and our Kickstarter backers is that we reduce the wait timers for Godus on PC and Mac. In the spirit of collaboration with the community, we will be implementing a major change to the way we set our balance files for all aspects of Godus. In the near future, we will be providing you with the ability to manually set many of the values within the balance files for yourself. We will then collate your feedback with the intention of making global adjustments to Godus on PC and Mac based on your collective contributions. You’ll be able to access the balance file values form with the settings menu: This will take you to the in-game Balance Changer, which will allow you set the values for Abodes… …for Followers… …and also for Belief. A simple interface will allow you to set these values however you wish. Want everything to be built instantly or to have Belief costs set to zero? Now you’ll have the ability to do so from within the game. You’ll then be able to update your game or, if you want to start again from scratch, restore them to their default settings. However, what we really, really want you to do is share your edited balance files with us and let us know how and why you think your changes make the game more enjoyable. We’re hoping there’s consistency in your replies, but we’re also aware that people will want to play according to their own preferred play style. It’s here that your feedback will be vital to help us understand why you’ve made particular changes. So, be bold! Be detailed! And please don’t skimp out on any of the more juicy parts to your reasoning. We want Godus to be a game that you keep coming back to, so what better way of doing that than by engaging our core players? As always, we keep a close eye on all of the feedback from our community, so please continue to share your thoughts in either our official forum, our Steam Early Access forum or the 22cans Facebook page.

Update 86 - 26/09/2014Coming Soon: A Brand New LandLast time you heard from us we had just released version 2.2.1 for Godus, which is now available for both for both Steam and iOS. Since then, we’ve been astonishingly busy with all manner of tasks, from squashing a small army of bugs to taking a few steps towards our next major content update. Today, we’re going to give an early look at what’s right around the next bend for Godus, including: a mysterious new tribe, herds of sheep, a massive hidden treasure, an enormous Ark… and an entirely new world for your followers to inhabit. Raiders of the newly-found ArkThere were many of you who, after dealing with the Astari (either through destruction or benevolence), were curious about whether that was all there was to see, or if there was more to discover elsewhere in your Homeworld. Also, what about that last expansion shrine? Is there nothing left to do after unlocking it? As it happens, there will soon be much to do after unlocking that very last shrine. So what exactly will we be adding in? Well we’ve got the notion to sail the ocean. This is where the Ark comes into play. Some of you early players may even remember there being a large unreachable boat all the way back in version 1.3. That model, eventually, got used for Voyages. For the Ark, however, we took a look and deicided “we’re going to need a bigger boat”. So let’s take a look! (Please bear in mind that the following screenshots are only mock-ups; the final in-game version will have at least 6.8 times as much awesome.) After finally reaching the Astari and doing with them what you please, you’ll find one more Expansion Beacon placed just next to their village. Unlock that Beacon and hey presto, you’ll suddenly have access to this brand new Ark! Well, perhaps ‘brand new’ is a bit of a stretch. It seems the Astari weren’t exactly doing a good job of maintaining their Ark over the years and it appears to be in shambles. Typical Astari, too busy partying. Getting the Ark to be seaworthy is a monumental task and will take an unprecedented amount of workers to restore it to its former glory. However, worry not, just like with everything else the more builders you have the faster the process will be. For the Ark, you’ll be able to leash up to 500 followers to work on it at once. To begin repairing the Ark, you’ll need to amass as many builders as you can manage and once they arrive on site they’ll immediately begin working hard on the repairs. You’ll also need ore to reinforce those repairs and, of course, you’ll need crops both for the build and for the daunting journey ahead. Commit enough builders and resources to the task and before too long you’ll have an entire Ark to call your own. Once finished, you’ll be able to stock it full of Followers. You can fit up to 500 of them into the Ark at one time but if, for whatever reason, you feel compelled to only send a handful you can do that too. Just be aware that you may need all the help you can get when establishing your new civilisation across the waters. After filling (aka, cramming) your Ark full of followers, you’ll be able to embark on a quest to new lands! A whole new worldWelcome to Wayworld. Wayworld, as it happens, will be a much harsher and challenging environment than you or your Followers are used to. It will also have different visuals and overall aesthetics. Instead of trees there’s now a vast desert of cacti. Instead of rocks there’s now mounds of sand and dirt. It’s a less forgiving landscape than your Followers will have ever experienced before, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t beauty to be found in this strange new world. Although seemingly barren, herds of sheep roam the land in search of grass and water. Springs of water will help fertile land grow. Every few days, the water levels will rise and the lowest desert lands will flood. So while it might seem a challenging land, it’s one that is far more dynamic than any land your Followers will have visited before. Unsurprisingly, however, the Astari seem to have beaten you to Wayworld. There are now two separate Astari tribes to contend with. The Astari also seem to be up to something this time, as rumor has it that they’re hiding a rather massive treasure of some kind. What’s more, there’s a third tribe on this land; a tribe that is far more sinister and devious than the Astari. In short, Wayworld will introduce a number of interesting new additions: - A vast desert landscape with cacti and sand.
- One area type that’s best for crops and another area type that’s best for abodes.
- Super abodes and super Settlements.
- Two Astari tribes hiding a massive secret treasure.
- A mysterious new, more sinister and more devious, third tribe.
- Roaming sheep (to be used in conjunction with a future Settlement).
- Desert plains that flood every few days.
- Dynamic water that helps to create fertile lands.
In addition to an entirely new land, there’s also many more abilities and abodes that you’ll have access to. Most of this is still being developed and worked on so be sure to keep the usual caveat in mind: things may get tweaked as development continues, but by and large this an overview of the additional abilities that we’re planning for Wayworld to include: New God Powers:- Comet
- Dig Down
- Level 3 cliff sculpting
- Level 9 and 12 sculpting upgrades
- Sculpting sand generates Belief
New Shrines:- For example, a Shrine to collect all the Wheat or Ore in a given radius
New Abode styles:- Sand Abodes
- Grass Abodes
- Mountain Abodes
- Frontier Abodes
- Monasteries
New Abode ranks:- Sand Ranks 5 & 6
- Grass Ranks 5 & 6
- Mountain Ranks 1 & 2
New Age Stickers & new Buffs- We will be adding a new set of stickers and buffs to compliment the new Age.
Also, if after spending some time in Wayword you find yourself pining for the Homeworld fjords, worry not – the Homeworld is just a menu button away. You’ll be able to return at any time to manage your Homeworld’s Followers, continue any sculpting projects, and collect resources. However, be wary: Wayworld is so far across the ocean that any resources you collect in Homeworld won’t be available in Wayworld. What’s in the next iOS update? In the coming weeks between now and the release of Wayworld, we’ll be releasing version 1.5 of Godus on the iOS App Store. This will be an incremental update and we’ll be sharing full details about it on its release. In the meantime, though, here’s a quick summary of what the update will entail: Improvements:- Players now able to login with Facebook without leaving the app.
- Players now have the ability to link to a Facebook account when the game is launched.
Fixes:- Players should no longer experience delays on the loading screens when logging in.
- Blighted land should no longer appear on the Homeworld unnecessarily.
- Various text changes, localisation fixes and interface tidy-ups.
I lost my save after the last iOS update – what now?Throughout this week we’ve been speaking with many of our iOS players whose saves were lost after the recently released iOS 8 compatibility update. We’re enormously sorry about the problems you’ve been having with Godus lately and we’re doing everything in our power to rectify this situation. We do have good news – we’ve been working on a solution to restore your lost save games and we’re looking forward to sharing more details about this early next week. (Who are we kidding, of course you have feedback!) We would genuinely love to hear from you, so give a shout our way over on our official forums or if you like your communications more social media flavoured you can also find us on Twitter and Facebook. We’re pretty darn excited about Wayworld and it is, we assure you, just one step of many in making GODUS a more dynamic (and, dare we say, delicious) place to play and engage. Thank you all for going on this crazy development Ark with us and we look forward to seeing you all in Wayworld.

Update 87 - 10/10/2014Frontier Age Available on Steam, iOS to Follow Next WeekAre you ready to lead your ever-gracious population of Followers on an incredible journey to a new and undiscovered land waiting for you to make it your own? We hope you are, because today sees the test release of the Frontier Age on Windows PC and Mac, bringing with it Weyworld and a host of new cards for your people’s Timeline. How do I get it?We’re releasing this update on iOS and the main branch of Steam for Windows PC and Mac next week. However. this update is available on our Opt-in branch of Steam right now, so if you’re keen to get started, you can check out the instructions and information on how to access it a little further down. What’s included? With today’s update you’ll be able build that gigantic Ark that we mentioned in our last blog and travel across the seas to a new and exciting place called Weyworld (yes, that’s with an ‘e’, not an ‘a’). In addition, you’ll be able to usher your followers into a brand new Age as well as earn some fun Halloween-themed rewards. There’s also a whole smorgasbord (that’s right, a smorgasbord) of new cards being introduced with this new update to help usher in Weyworld. There are, quite literally, too many to list in full but here’s a quick overview of some that we think you’ll probably find the most enticing. And yes, your eyes don’t deceive you… Dig Down is back! - Epic Sculpting
- Grand Monasteries
- Crop Rotation
- Blue Skies
- Stormy Weather
- Dig Down
- Enhanced Meteors
- Fleet of Foot
- Comet
What’s missing? You may have also seen us mention in our last blog that sheep, flooding, springs, and a third tribe were also on the docket for an upcoming update. Those specific items aren’t quite ready for this particular release (either for Steam or iOS) as we’re still in the process of fully developing those features, but rest assured we’re hoping to get them over to you in a content update in the not-too-distant future. We wanted to get what we have ready over to you first, that all get to visit Weyworld and also tell us what you think. Set sail for Spooky ShoresAs it happens, good ol’ Halloween is right around the corner, so in the spirit of one of our favourite holidays, we’ve added in some Halloween-themed rewards that you’ll be able to earn in the ‘Spooky Shores’ Voyage of Discovery included in this release. Here’s some of the just-for-fun rewards you can expect to see added in for Halloween: - Witch hats for female builders
- Skull masks for male builders
- Pumpkin heads for farmers
- “Arrow in the head” hats for miners
- New Halloween tunic colours for builders, farmers, and miners
- Graves for Settlements
- Pumpkin fields
Questions from the community about WeyworldSince posting our last blog, we received some questions about Weyworld and how it might work, so we figured we’d take some time to answer a handful of the questions that were posted over on our forums. Will the unique terrain types for abodes and mines be sculptable or expandable? You can sculpt them but you won’t be able to expand them. Will the spring mechanics ever be introduced as a god power letting us place them ourselves? We’ve actually been chatting about this but there’s nothing official to confirm just yet, but we’re definitely not ruling it out! What if we don’t take enough followers or ‘accidentally’ kill our followers off in Weyworld?Similar to Homeworld, if your population in Weyworld reaches zero then two new followers will emerge from the Ark. Don’t ask us where they come from. We have no idea either. Are gems and belief carried across worlds?Gems carry across worlds but all other resources are restricted to each respective world. How do we go about rebuilding the Ark? Will we need all resources to get started or can the resources trickle in?Wheat and Ore will need to be in place before you begin construction and, as with everything else, the more builders you have the faster the reconstruction will go. The trick is to try and make Settlements and towns close to the Ark so that your builders don’t have as far to walk. Stamina and speed shrines will certainly help as well! What exactly is the Comet god power?Comet is mostly non-destructive (unlike the Meteor god power). Comet is the only way to remove granite, which we can assure you will come in handy on Weyworld. Will Weyworld on PC have its own Pit of Doom? There’s currently no Pit of Doom in Weyworld but you can switch between worlds via the lighthouse in each world (and gems carry across worlds). Want to play the new update early? We’ll be releasing this update on iOS and the main Steam branch next week, but for those of you who like to try these updates while they’re still getting polished and fixed then you’ll be happy to hear this update is available on the opt-in branch for Steam right now. A word of warningBeing that all opt-in builds have the potential to be rough around the edges, bear in mind that you may want to back up your save files as there’s a risk that you might lose your game’s progress when updating to the opt-in. For more information on how to access the opt-in builds just check out this guide: How to Access Developer BuildsKnown issuesHere’s some of the known issues for this update. As always, if you encounter anything not listed here then please post either on our forums or drop us a line via Support.22cans.com. Steam and iOS- Completing the Ark reconstruction with gems doesn’t fill the Ark with followers like it should.
- The ‘Select Expedition’ page should have a confirm button instead of just an ‘X’ in the corner.
- When you complete a voyage the ‘Star Score’ shows over the reward, making the reward difficult to see.
- Clicking on a certain tree near the start of the game and opening its info panel will cause the game to crash to desktop.
iOS only- The game freezes when accepting a phone call during a network authorization whilst trying to recover a save. This does not affect the save recovery; the game will just need to be restarted.
- Slight performance issue whilst scrolling on iPad Mini retina.
More updates to comeWe’ve also got many more updates on the near horizon, so definitely keep an eye out for more news on what’s in store for Godus. Here’s a quick overview of just a few things we’ve got planned: Weekly dev updatesSomething that we’re pretty jazzed about is that we’re going to start releasing weekly updates on what the team’s been up to and what everyone’s currently working on around the office. We’ll be releasing these on our blog and forums every Friday, starting this very Friday! More 'Meet the Team' videosWe’ll be sitting down and chatting with more members of the team in some new Meet the Team videos that we’ll be releasing in the very near future. A big Community Q&AMany of you have been busy composing and submitting questions for Peter to answer and we’re happy to report that we’ll be recording a video very soon where Peter will sit down and answer as many of your questions as we can. For any questions that we don’t get around to we’ll also be doing a live Twitch stream a few weeks later where you can submit your own questions to Peter in real time for him to answer. See you in Weyworld!Everyone’s been busy like crazy adding in all this new content, preparing for future updates and putting together some new community initiatives like the weekly updates and the big Q&A session that’s right around the corner. We’re excited for everyone to get their hands on this next update and try out Weyworld for yourselves. As always, feel free to stalk us over on Facebook and Twitter and say hello over on our forums as well. See you around!

Update 88 - 16/10/2014Welcome to Weyworld - Frontier Age Arrives on iOS & SteamToday we’re releasing the first major expansion for Godus, extending the game by introducing a whole new land to explore, full of mystery and unique surroundings. With this expansive and game-changing update, you’ll be tasked with building a massive Ark, filling it with your tiny, adoring Followers and setting sail for Weyworld - an undiscovered land just waiting to be explored. In Weyworld you will find new secrets to uncover, rival tribes to meet and a host of new god-like abilities to unlock. Additionally, we have redesigned the Voyages mini-game to give you new ways to play and win unique rewards to decorate your world. The lost ArkYour people long to move to a new land and to do this, you must help them build an Ark for their journey across uncharted waters. This Ark will take all the Followers who worked on it to a new land called Weyworld, along with huge amount of resources – 500 Ore and 700 Wheat, to be precise. Building this Ark is no easy feat and will take a considerable amount of time and resources to complete. Once ready, it will carry up to 500 of your Followers on the voyage to Weyworld. Don’t worry, even though this is a one-way migration for your seafaring Followers, as their almighty god you will be able to return to Homeworld whenever you choose via the Lighthouse. Weyworld is waitingOnce the Ark arrives at Weyworld, your first task will be to house all the Followers aboard in new abodes unique to this land. You’ll quickly notice that Weyworld has its own distinctive visual style – it’s a desert world where the trees and rocks you’re familiar with in Homeworld are replaced by cacti and baked earth. That’s not the only difference, however – in Weyworld, crops need to be built on verdant land and mines on rugged land if your want them to flourish and your Followers to prosper. You’ll also find a third type of terrain – hallowed ground. Here you will be able to build monasteries of various sizes – while these produce no workers, they do generate an awful lot of belief! Your wayfaring Followers aren’t the first to call Weyworld home – you’ll discover three tribes of mischievous Astari up to their usual tricks. The Astari have hidden an enormous treasure in Weyworld and it’s up to you to claim it for your Followers. Enter the Frontier AgeWeyworld ushers in the Frontier Age, bringing with it a new Timeline and new cards for you to unlock with new stickers. All the cards you would have unlocked in Homeworld will be active in Weyworld - any cards not unlocked can be completed by returning to Homeworld. Some of the new abilities you’ll earn will enhance your Followers’ lives and others will increase your own godly powers – here’s a few that you’ll discover in the new world: - Blue skies – by your will the skies shall remain bright and clear. Storms will occur less frequently.
- Stormy weather – keep the skies angry by your wrath! Storms will appear more frequently.
- Comet – blast apart layers of granite with these celestial projectiles.
- Enhanced meteors – there’s nothing like a good meteor strike to vent your divine wrath… and now they’re even more powerful!
- Epic sculpting – unlock the ability to sculpt even more layers of terrain at once.
- Dig Down – unlock the ability to dig directly downwards by double-tapping/clicking.
- Fleet of Foot – a healthy diet and plenty of exercise lead to fitter and faster Followers.
- Crop rotation – your Farmers develop wonderful new agricultural techniques and fields now produce much more Wheat.
More Voyages, redesigned VoyagesWe’ve refined the gameplay for Voyages in this update – you no longer have to complete a Voyage within a limited amount of time. However, the more quickly you complete a Voyage, the more points you’ll earn. What do points mean? Points mean prizes! The higher your score in a Voyage, the more stars you’ll complete for it, with a total of three stars available for each Voyage. We’ve also added a new series of Voyages with this update, called Spooky Shores – earning a high score in these Voyages will unlock a slew of suitably-spooky Halloween themed content, such as creepy masks for your Followers or eerie graves for your Settlements. Future updatesWe still have plenty left in store to bring to Weyworld and the Frontier Age. Future updates will add an area that’s home to a new rival tribe, sheep that roam the land and for the game’s dynamic water to make previously barren lands fertile. iOS improvements in v1.6This update also features a number of enhancements for Godus on iOS, many of which had been requested by the mobile community. We hope that our iOS players will be pleased to hear that you can now rotate your view of the world, so now you can sculpt behind mountains! Here’s a few of the key improvements we’ve made to the mobile version of Godus: - Camera rotation is now enabled for iOS
- Improved game visuals for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6+
- Sculpting accuracy improvements for touchscreen devices
- 'Report a Bug' button is now in for faster bug reporting
- Various bug fixes and balance refinements
Coming soon to PC & Mac - Balance File Editor & Steamworks integrationIf you enjoy the iOS version of Godus, then you may want to help us with the future development of the game by playing Godus on Windows PC or Mac OS X, where you will soon be able to tune and tweak various gameplay parameters. In fact, we have some very good news for everyone playing Godus on Steam for Mac and Windows PC – the hotly anticipated Balance File Editor we first detailed in this blog is confirmed to be released on Friday 31st October. This tool will allow you modify how many aspects of the game behave, from wait timers to Belief generation and more besides. Thanks to Steamworks integration, you’ll also be able to share and swap your personalised balance files with each other also with us here at 22cans. We’ll be looking at the best and most popular balance changes you develop with a view to implementing them based on your feedback ahead of when Godus transitions out of Early Access and into full release. Set sail for new discoveries! You can download the Frontier Age update for Godus on iOS right now via the App Store and it will be available on the main branch of Steam a little later on today. We’re looking forward to hearing what you make of all this new content on Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and our forums – see you around!

Update 89 - 27/10/2014New Update, Q+A with Peter & Jack, plus Info on Godus for AndroidWith so much going on here at the studio right now, we thought we should give you a quick update. Sit back and we’ll take you through all our latest comings and goings. Version 3.1 for iOS and v2.3.1 for Steam out todayWe are releasing an incremental update for both the iOS and Steam versions of Godus today so as to address the recent issues that a few of our players had been experiencing when trying to launch the game, along with other various bug fixes. As always, if ever you run into any unexpected problems with the game, please contact our dedicated Tech Support team via Support.22cans.com. Here’s a list of notable changes due in today’s new build: - Expiration of Facebook token fix causing freeze on launch (iOS)
- Fix for info panel crash in tutorial section
- Fix for crash on load for players with very large number temples
- Shortened intro video to reduce game’s memory footprint
Godus for AndroidAs you may have noticed from our recent weekly dev activity updates, we’re currently working on bringing Godus to Android for all devices equivalent to the Samsung Galaxy S3 and above. We’ve been making great headway and we’re looking forward to releasing Godus on the Google Play store towards the middle of next month, in time for Thanksgiving. The Android release of Godus incorporates all the exciting elements featured in the latest version of the game for iOS and Steam. Now Android players will also be able to advance their growing civilization into the recently released Frontier Age, where they can look forward to exploring Weyworld, a vast land with all-new challenges, unique surroundings and fresh mysteries to uncover. Peter & Jack answer your questionsRecently, over on our Steam forums, long-time contributor Gmr Leon kindly collated a bunch of questions from around the Mac & PC community asking for detailed insight on the current state of the game and our intentions for the future. With no question too daunting, Peter and Jack set about answering each questions as fully and thoroughly as possible. You can find the results in the three videos below. They had such a good time answering these questions that we’ve already gone ahead and started recording a follow-up Q&A session, which we hope to share with you later this week. Balance File Editor & Steamworks integration coming this FridayLastly, but my no means leastly, we will be releasing the Balance File Editor to the Opt-in Branch of Steam on Friday of this week. Our one and only Pavle 'Big Thunder' Mihajlovic is hard at work finishing up the tool to make it ready for public use. It’s no understatement to say that we can’t wait to see what you make of it when you start sharing your balance files with each other via Steamworks! That’s all for today, but as ever we’d love for you to join in the discussion on Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and our forums – see you on the boards!

Update 90 - 07/11/2014Balance File Editing Tool Available on Steam Opt-in BranchGood news for everyone playing Godus on Steam Early Access – you now have access to a beta version of the Balance File Editor we first detailed in this blog update. You can find it on the game’s opt-in branch and there’s details on how to access that in this forum post: How to Access Developer BuildsThe Balance File Editor is an in-game tool for editing the values that govern the behaviour of your Followers and Abodes. Once you're happy with your modifications, you can share them with your friends and the community via the Steam forums. We actually released the tool last Friday, however we wanted to wait a week before making a big, splashy announcement to catch any major bugs. Thanks to the feedback supplied by the regulars on our Steam forum, we released an update for the tool yesterday that fixed a few issues. How the Balance File Editor worksIf you open the Settings menu (press escape or click on the button in the top right), you'll see a new option: "Change Balance". Inside this menu, you'll see the Abodes balance table. Let's change one of the values: Click on the capacity of the Shelter. This will highlight the value. Now replace that 2 with a 6 and press enter or the green check mark. Go into the "Update" tab and press "Update Game". If you look at your world and click on one of the little tents, you will see it now sprogs more people. Your tents now have six Followers in them. Coming soon: Steam Workshop integrationThe Balance File Editor is currently in beta, which means that it’s a pre-release version of the final tool. It may be unstable and it is currently missing features that will be included in the final release. One of these features is Steam Workshop integration, which we’re hoping to implement very soon. This feature will allow you to name your mod and upload it directly to the Steam Workshop from within the game. Once it's uploaded, you’ll be able to access the page for your mod, change the description, add an image and share it with the world. You’ll also be able browse other people's mods in the workshop and subscribe to them. Once you've subscribed, you'll find it in your game in the Update tab under “Select Subscribed Mod”. More features to comeHere’s a few of the additional values we want to add to the tool in the coming weeks for you to play with: - Shrine build times/vision radius
- Farm/Mine resource generation times for Wheat/Ore
- Settlement times
- Belief costs for God powers
Meanwhile, the community has come up with their own ingenious file swapping tool, which you can find here: Godus Map file swapper v0.01Peter & Jack Answer even more of your questionsIt turns out that we hadn't answered all your questions after all! So, Peter & Jack jumped back in front of the camera to field queries about the whole spectrum of Godus-related activity and what the future holds for our regenesis of the god game. For our dynamic design duo, there's no question too probing or answer too rambling. As ever, we do like to go on a bit, so for your own sake please ensure you're sitting comfortably before pressing play. We hope you enjoy our latest missive and look forward to answering more of your questions in future videos. Tundra Tumble Voyage - first map bugWe’ve received a few reports lately from players of Godus on both iOS and Steam Early Access about an issue with the Tundra Tumble voyage mission. As you're playing through the Tundra Tumble voyage, you may come across the auto-completion bug or are stuck with only the first map as playable and all other maps with three stars. What's causing this bug?!This bug has continued over from the Spooky Shore's event and has carried your reward points over. Meaning, once you've completed the first Tundra Tumble your points from that mission get added up with your Spooky Shores event points, causing Godus to think that you've already completed Tundra Tumble. What are we doing about this bug?Right now, we're currently investigating this bug and we apologise for any inconvenience. Until next time That’s all for this week, but as ever we’d love for you to join in the discussion on Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and our official forums – see you on the boards!

Update 91 - 26/11/2014New Features & Workshop Integration for Godus on SteamToday we’re thrilled to confirm that the team here at 22cans have commenced our PC-focused sprint. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be looking to implement a few of the suggestions and requests you’ve shared with us for features and functions in the game – you’re certainly not short of good ideas! However, you’ll be pleased to hear we’ve already added a few into the game already, read on for details. Brand new features for Godus on SteamWe’re overjoyed to inform you that our designers, coders, artists and animators have been very busy over the last week in their effort to get some desktop-exclusive features over to our Steam community as quickly as possible. Downloading the updated build from the main branch of Steam today will net you the following improvements to Godus: - Raise land power – create mountains or fill holes and pits by double-clicking!
- Lower land power – flatten mountains or dig holes by double-clicking!
- Water Spring Gift – draw forth a source of water from which you can sculpt rivers and waterfalls!
- Reduced wait timers for building Temples
- Ability to skip tutorial
- Greater diversity in your Followers’ appearance
- Upgradeable god powers
But wait, there’s more! We’re hoping to add the following features before the end of this week: - Customisable key bindings – soon you’ll be able to assign hot keys for god powers!
- Level Editor, including procedural terrain generator – create your own, unique Homeworlds!
- Ranged combat mechanics
- New military Settlement
- Archer Followers, who will attack threats
- Archer Astari, who will attack your Settlements aggressively
- Ability to move Abodes, Shrines and Gifts once placed
- Improvements to Raising and Lowering land god powers
Further out, we’d very much like to spend time looking into making further improvements to our sculpting mechanics. While nothing’s set in stone right now, we’d really like to give you the ability to sculpt rivers and staircases more easily and intuitively. For a list of known issues with the current build, please follow this link: Godus Beta Known Issues. And now onto the other big feature of today’s update… Balance File Editor update on main branch of SteamWe're releasing the initial version of the Balance File Editor to the main branch of Godus on Steam. While this tool is not yet 100% feature complete, we think it is stable enough for a full release. This tool, which we described in full here on our blog, enables you to completely change how the game feels and behaves. In brief, by changing the game’s stats in the two currently available tabs (Abodes and Followers) and pressing Update Game in the Update tab, you can set changes that affect how Godus plays in all kinds of ways. For more information on how to use this tool, please read our wiki article here: Balance File Editor – GODUS wiki. Steam Workshop integrationWe’ve now brought Steam Workshop functionality to the Balance File Editor, enabling you to name your mod and upload it to Steam so that you can share your modifications with the entire Godus community. Here’s how it works:You can now go back into the update tab, name your mod and upload it to the Steam Workshop. Once it's uploaded you can access the page for your mod, change the description, add an image and share it with the world. Please note that in order to make your modifications public you must first accept the Terms and Conditions for Steam Workshop. While in the workshop you browse other people's mods and subscribe to them. Once you've subscribed you'll find it in your game under the Update tab under ‘Select Subscribed Mod’. Future improvementsIn addition to the ability to edit the behaviours of your Farms, Mines, Abodes and Followers, we’ll soon be updating the tool to enables you to modify Shrines, Beacons, Settlements and god powers as well. As soon as we have more info about these features, we’ll provide you with an update. That’s all for nowWe really hope you enjoy some of the desktop-specific updates we’ve made to the game and that you’re excited by some of the other features we’ll be putting into your hands before the week is out. As ever, we’d love for you to join in the discussion on Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and our official forums – see you on the boards

Update 92 - 28/11/2014Godus Now Available to Download on AndroidToday, we’re delighted to announce the launch of Godus on Google Play for Android devices. You can find it on the Google Play Store by following this link: Godus – Android Apps on Google Play. The Android release of Godus incorporates all the exciting elements featured in the latest version of the game for iOS. Now, players will be able to advance their growing civilization into the brand new Frontier Age, where they can look forward to exploring a vast land with all-new challenges, unique surroundings and fresh mysteries to uncover. Weyworld New features for Godus on mobileCoinciding with the game’s debut on Android, players will be able to enjoy innovative social network integration that names their in-game population after their real-life Facebook friends. Additionally, friends can explore each other’s worlds for the first time, as well as being able to compete and compare their progress in events that see their Followers embark on exclusive Voyages in the pursuit of rare prizes. Godus’ intuitive controls have also taken a step forward with the new ability to rotate the world so you can look behind cliffs and mountains. Facebook integration for mobile – see your friends’ worlds & compare progressPlayers can log into Facebook in Godus via the Link Worlds screen that appears when tapping the Temple of Discovery (once you’ve finished building it, naturally). Linking to Facebook will reward players with a number of in-game bonuses, including additional belief and stickers. Inviting your friends is very simple, you’ll be able to do it by a tap of a button from within the game. Once you’ve connected to your Godus-playing Facebook friends, you will then be able to see how your friends are progressing along their Timeline: …and compare your own scores with their Voyages: You’ve got visitors One of the aspects of this feature we’re most excited about is the ability to visit your friends’ worlds with a simple tap from within the game, either via the Timeline or by tapping on the button next to their name in your Facebook Friends list. Once you’ve successfully linked up with your Facebook friends playing Godus and invited them to view your world, you can assign their real-life names to one of your Followers. Even better, you can check out how their miniature digital selves are doing with the press of a button. By being able to visit each other’s worlds, you’ll not only be able to compare progress, but also get help from your buddies at every stage of the game. We’re very excited about bringing you the ability to visit your friends’ worlds and by doing so, we’re bringing Godus one step closer to the introduction of multiplayer! Upgrade your God PowersWith this update, you can now purchase new upgrades for your God Powers using gems to make them more powerful. For example, upgrading Rain of Purity enlarges the power’s rain-cloud so that it rains on more fields and upgrading Meteor results in much bigger impact craters. Equally, later upgrades for God Seed will improve crop and ore yields as well the rate at which Belief is generated. You’ll also be able to upgrade your Settlements’ population capacity, as well as the effect radius and collection capacity of Shrines. For example, a fully upgraded Stamina Shrine will mean followers never tire in its radius. Community competitionTo celebrate the launch of Godus on Android, we’ve teamed up with the Godus Community Gallery Facebook group for a civilisation themed contest. The challenge:Can you build the perfect city? This new competition is all about how great a city can be in Godus. This includes beauty, houses, villages and everything you could include to create your own “perfect” city. The prizes:- 1st prize – 100 gems
- 2nd prize – 50 gems
- 3rd prize – 20 gems
- 4th prize – 10 gems
- 5th prize – 5 gems
How to win:It’s easy! The picture with the most likes and shares wins. Each ‘like’ counts as 1 point and each ‘share’ counts for 2 points. We will only award points for the number of times you have shared your own post once; however every time your post is shared by other it will be counted as 2 points. The rules:- You need to be a member of this group to participate: www.facebook.com/groups/Gooduus/
- Only one entry allowed for each contestant.

Update 93 - 01/12/2014Help Us with the Rapid Development of Godus on Steam! We wouldn’t want an opportunity like this to slip you by, so in case you weren’t aware already we’d like to let you know that Steam have selected Godus for their annual Thanksgiving sale. That means right now your friends can pick up Godus on Steam Early Access for a whopping 75% off the regular price just by following this link: Save 75% on Godus for Steam. If your nearest and dearest have not yet played our delightful, Zen-like re-genesis of the god game on Windows PC or Mac OS X, there’s never been a better time to do so. Now more than ever, as we’re currently making full use of our opt-in branch by running a rapid build release schedule during our PC sprint. Here’s how you can help us make Godus a truly great game for PC gamers. The Opt-in branchWant to test the absolute latest developer build of Godus before we release it widely? Then you’re in luck, as we’ve been providing the community with access to our bleeding edge builds of the game for you to test and try out. We feel that this will empower you, the community, to provide even more feedback by taking part in the ongoing development of GODUS more easily and more frequently. For details on how to access these developer builds, just follow this link: How to Access Developer Builds. How you can help For every new opt-in build deployed, one of our developers is creating a post on the Steam forums where the community can raise issues and make suggestions. These posts are ‘pinned’ in our General Discussion forum and are titled ‘PC Sprint – Build #’. Any help finding bugs and proposing ideas would be greatly appreciated and will help us make Godus into the game the community deserve! Send us your feedback & bug reportsThe best way to deliver us your bug reports and feedback is to post on our Steam forum and also send them through to us on e-mail via godusfeedback@22cans.comIf the bug can be shown visually, please feel free to send us some screenshots with your e-mail along with a little description of the issue. Also, if you could place your .PRF folder into a .ZIP file, that would be pretty awesome too. If you’re reporting a crash, please send us your .PRF folder and your latest verbose file, that way we’ll be able to see what’s causing the crash. Thanks for all your helpGodus is a unique game that we hope will grow to be truly special. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed developing our dream game and are currently doing our very best to refine Godus on Windows PC and Mac OS X based on the feedback of its players. We warn you that there are still bugs and incomplete features – this is the nature of the journey we are on. You may wish to wait for the finished game, but we have much content still to implement and improve as the game continues development. We do hope you’ll help with this. If you do, we consider you a part of our development team. We look forward to receiving your feedback.

Update 95 - 09/03/2015Godus Community UpdateHello Kickstarter! It's 2015 and it's time for our first update of the year after an adventurous few months here at 22cans. The Godus team are working hard to design, create and implement new features, bug fixes and work with the community to push Godus forward. It's all full steam ahead from now on! Update 7 is just round the corner and it'll bring single player combat and Pavle's new battle formations into the mix. Pavle's been shouting about those a lot recently and we're all getting quite excited about it. What exactly has happened between January and now?In January, the team returned to studio after the Winter break and Konrad Naszynski stepped up to the role of Lead Designer for Godus and started his plans for the implementation of the story into Godus. In February, the story of Godus found its way on to the Steam Opt-In. This covered the events of a past Deity learning about their powers and followers (The Astari). While the Steam Community didn’t seem too pleased with this, the 22cans team took your feedback and concerns on board and we're continuing to look into ways to redefine the way we deliver the story. The team is a little smaller this year and this has raised concerns amongst some community members. We want to reassure everyone that we’re all fully committed to making Godus the game it deserves to be. So who exactly is working on Godus?Andy - ProductionAndy is our Production Manager and has been in charge of the day to day team activities. He likes to make sure stuff gets done on time and the team have anything and everything they need in order to get the job done. Andy also manages all of the builds and releases to Steam and Mobile. Konrad - Lead DesignerKonrad, the community member turned powerhouse designer, has recently been working on the combat design, producing relevant design documents and tweaking the story elements. We’ve also has some interest in Godus from Korea and Konrad has been hard at work making sure the localisation is correct. Martin - QA LeadMartin is the QA Lead on the Godus team and is forever testing, breaking and destroying the game. His daily tasks usually involve shouting at the other members for breaking Godus whilst regressing their issues and readying desktop and mobile builds for release. Conor - QA & CommunityRecently Conor has been working on the Zendesk support system, dealing with support tickets and interacting with our numerous Facebook community groups. Conor has also been writing up the proposal for the Art of Godus/Making of Godus Kickstarter reward and investigating printing options. Richard - ProgrammingRichard is our newest edition to the development team has already broken the game once. He’s been squashing all of those pesky bugs that appear when you’re not looking, cleaning up all the builds of Godus and will soon be moving on to programming Combat features. Pavle - Programming Pavle is hard at work on Combat and this week we’ve all been woo’d by his impressive battle formations. Our daily development Twitch stream watchers are always on Pavle’s back for having a messy, food covered desk. So much so, that one member set up a petition to get Pavle to clean that unsanitary workplace. You can join the cause here: Pavle's Dirty Desk PetitionFabs - ProgrammingFabs has been doing what ever Konrad tells him to do. Which recently has involved with testing new rendering options and animations, work on the Combat update and working on something top secret. Shhh! Dave - Community ManagerOur Community Manager Dave can often be found loitering around the Steam forums, our community boards and other social media channels. He has been updating the community with the Daily Development Activity on the 22cans website, generating our community reports and crying himself to sleep. Onwards and upwards!Moving forward, the team are busy implementing Combat for Update 7 which will be available soon on the Opt-in branch and Konrad has created a design document that we have decided to share in order to gather feedback and ideas from the community. The first document we’re releasing details 'Phase-1' of a '3-Phase' combat implementation. This document focuses on Warbands, Unit Generation and Controls. It’s a 33 page PDF file and probably isn’t going to interest everyone, but feel free to have a look over it and tell us what you think! All of these designs and ideas are subject to change. The Document is available to view here - Combat Design DocumentMarch is shaping up to be quite an important month for the Godus team and we're always looking for feedback and ideas from the community. Thanks for your support and keep sculpting!

Update 96 - 19/03/2015The Art of Godus/Making of Godus Book Update!Hello Backers! We recently sent out a message asking for feedback on our Making of/Art Book Reward. As previously mentioned, in our initial pitch we may have put forward a mixed message on the direction book by mentioning an art book in the Kickstarter pledge tiers and a ‘Making of Godus’ book in the detailed pledge image. And so we set up a little questionnaire asking the relevant backers for their input on the Book Reward with two options listed. Would you prefer to see The Making of Godus or The Art of Godus? *drum roll* .. And with 57.7% of the votes The Art of Godus has officially been chosen as the finalised reward. Conor has been in touch with numerous printing companies and has been ordering samples in order to get a feel for how the book will look in it's finished form. He's currently heading up the Art Book production and should have a few sample pages ready to share soon. Along with the sample pages, we also publish a basic Art of Godus Book proposal that we will be working from. Recent NewsHave you seen the recent Combat Design Documents that Konrad has put together for the community? He's released two docs and will be showing off another very soon! Combat Design Document 1 - Combat Design Document 2Interested in keeping up to date with the team's daily doings? Take a look at the Daily Dev Activity on the 22cans website - Click Here! Thanks for your continued support and keep sculpting!

Update 97 - 09/10/2015The Art of Godus - Art Book is here!Hello BackersIt's been a few months now since we last spoke about the Art Book and over the course of the Summer, our concept artist Sara has been feverishly collecting every bit of art, information and excerpts from staff new and old. 'The Art of Godus' coverIt's taken a significant time investment to track down those little bits of concept art, those original images from cameras and speaking to each member involved with the Godus project and allow them to shed some light into their creative and technical work on the project. Now, we understand that a significant time has past since the Kickstarter finished and so we've sent a message to the Backer Tiers that the art book was featured in asking for an updated address. Please check your Kickstarter inbox and associated email inbox for this message! We don't want to send your reward to an old address and for you to miss out! This week we'll be signing the books by hand, packaging them up and sending them on their way to backers around the world! We've take a few pictures of the book which you can find below: The Godus team have been working on including combat into the world of Godus and we've been posting incremental developer updates over on our Steam Announcement page - steamcommunity.com/app/232810/announcements/We'll have a full post on Kickstarter regarding combat in the coming weeks! We've got a extremely busy month ahead and we can't wait to share more with you. 22cans
