A place to store different exploration art tests, color palette tests, mood etc. Feedback always appreciated! To get the ball rolling:

I like: Cats; single malt Scotch; Stargate; Amiga; fried potatoes; retro gaming; cheese; snickers; sticky tape.
I don't like: Dimples in the bottom of scotch bottles; Facebook games masquerading as godgames.

I like the atmosphere of the first pic. It's a little bit gloomy while at the same time not being frightening or alarming or anything like that. Nice contrast between the dark foreground and brighter background.
The second one is somehow reminiscent of a Van Gogh, doesn't feel at all like a game setting to me.
EDIT: The 3rd and 4th post aren't working. Pictures apparently contain some kind of error.
2nd EDIT: Picture 5... Planet of the Apes.

I think the first one is a good cool balanced, probably going to look to keep things like the blue hues and black/dark tree bark as a contrast for leaves etc. We've had some performance testing this week on platforms and art budget is a lot more than I anticipated, so I want to move away from vertex color/flat color and into textures/materials instead - hence all the different colors/tones I'm looking at. The last tree has leaves/vibrancy I really like and might want to push further.

Art budget increase on performance and better flexibility on art direction. Our targets are PC > Console VR, but I'm seeing that performance is actually really good on even really complex unoptimized projects. We don't need an increase in budget due to having a fairly robust team internally funded already and a set asset list for this phase of development. I imagine that the budget, internally, will increase once we've got a good first-impression prototype game to show the public, as we can move from design/testing to content creation.

I think this one could use more red and orange tones, as if reflecting the light of fire fed by firewood. Kinda like that animation from Pocahontas (extreme example): Yeah, I say "more" about the B&W picture, I'm just the kind of guy like that.

These are all gorgeous. I love concept art, even just the basic quick sketch stuff; very raw and organic, pure exploration. That was always my favorite part of art school, doing rough drawing, fast painting, all just unfiltered work. Unfortunately, however, that is probably why I almost never finished a project to completion - because I had trouble filtering and finalizing my ideas.
That tree is particularly fantastic.
And these do remind me a bit of the Banner Saga art - which isn't a bad thing, as that was one of the main attractions for me looking into that game.
Beautiful stuff.
