Anybody know any nice mobile games that are good for short bus trips?
I've been playing Jewels Star for the past year and I've now completed all 297 levels at the highest scores. Just downloaded Jewels Stars 2, haven't looked at it yet. FYI, Jewels Star is a 3-in-a-row game.
It would be nice to find some of those simple classic games to try out. Just can't think of any that would be suitable for on smartphones. A very basic smartphone at that, so nothing extravagant like Notdus.
If you know of any cool suitable games that are not classics your suggestions are welcome too.

I'm enjoying Clash Royale. It's got micro transactions of course but it's perfectly playable without spending money.

What's the objective there and can you play it in bouts of say 5 or 10 minutes tops?

What's the objective there and can you play it in bouts of say 5 or 10 minutes tops? Yeah it's a series of 1v1 tower defence matches lasting about 3 minutes on average. You have a deck of cards you can play to summon units. The goal is to to bash down the opposition towers. Between games you earn chests of cards and microtransactions allow you to buy these more quickly.

Sudoku! I played plenty of sudoku. But with that game you're never finished. I'm thinking of something where you can complete levels of increasing difficulty until you've done them all and feel a sense of accomplishment.

Not sure if they are available on other stores, but I liked for a puzzle (has a lot of micro transactions but you can progress without and plenty of gameplay). www.weplaydots.com/twodots.htmlBut you can't beat galaxy on Fire 2 for a full priced mobile game. Good story, plenty of stuff to try to collect.

Try Pixel Dungeon It's a bit like nethack but has only 4 classes (plus a bonus class if you finish the game (not managed yet)) Not as many different items or monsters. But it saves when you log out. So it hits the "short game" mark.

I recommend Cookie Jam, it's another match three game but it has a really fun theme and some very cool interesting levels and adds some new items and problems to overcome every few rounds. You can play it without spending any money if you get good at it. I have never spent a penny and I am at level 98 now.

You could also download a bunch of podcasts (Player.fm, Podbean, etc.), audio books (Audible, Google Books, etc), or music (I use Spotify offline mode), put on some headphones/earbuds, kick back, and block out the world.

My personal favourite for now would be Soda Dungeon. I simply can't get enough of its 8-bit sound.

WelL, you upgrade your tavern, manage your gear and hire adventurers into a party of 5 people to clear the dungeon. You can control the tactical fighting phase or just set it to auto (I do the latter since it's kinda repetititve). The whole games feels like a game for Sega Mega Drive if it was hand-held and smartphone-sized. As in, it's simple, tasteful and with 8-bit sound with pixel graphic. You totally want to hear the sound with which the Conjurer casts her lightning spell.
Also I must point out that the microtransactions in the game are easily avoidable so they don't break anything and can't even be considered a paywall as far as I've played.
