I'm sure they can also be acquired through "alternative" means on the internet. But I'm not going to advise it.

iTunes, but it's expensive (moreso than TV seasons usually are on iTunes)

We just recently got access to them on Comcast's Xfinity On-Demand, so I've been (finally) watching as much as possible to catch up. On season 4 now. Before that I had been contemplating paying to watch on both Amazon & Hulu - but the cost for digital content is just too high; you own it, but not really. They don't even let you download your purchase for offline watching because of piracy - which just infuriates a portion of their paying customers.
And yes, I realize that is exactly what Steam has been doing for years, and it's never really sat well with me - but it was the only easy-access & affordable option for years before DRM free digital distributor sites GoG started carrying newer games.

Does Amazon really not let you download your purchases? iTunes definitely does. Their video files are DRMed, but I don't really know how it works – I've never run into any issues with it.

Of course they do. You just have to make sure you buy from the Amazon Video selection and not buying a DVD.
