Here's an interesting idea: Let the Nublings in well-fed areas have a change to grow up as fairer-skinned. According to a study, people with enough fatty foods over generations exhibit more neotenic characteristics (including reduced amounts of melatonin resulting in fairer skin, eyes and hair) than people with not enough fats in their diet. Also, fairer skin is more attractive and thus rich prefer fairer mates. (this is one of the reasons for racism, as darker-skinned people are perceived as coming from less successful lineage) I just find it interesting if a dynamic like that could be implemented, reflecting the ratio of food per person over time. And then different settlements would trade people, mixing all the different kinds of Nublings.

Hmm, even if the players understood how that mechanic worked and what it was based on, I really think it would rub a lot of people the wrong way.

I think the idea itself is cool and I think the implementation can be handled with different colouration to be not offensive. I'll pass the idea on.

Oh, come on! How is this offensive? It works not just between the races, it works within the races. And yes, it is a fact africans did not have proper, secure sources of food. They still don't. And was it their fault? Not really. Anyway, I don't mind the different coloring as long as the theme of paedomorphism (the key) persists. Preferably, with also eye and hair colours (I already said nobles are much blonder than average people, and it's not just inbreeding). I mean, it's not like Nubs are definitely human as in homo sapiens. The have a halo as a sun.

Why not just make them fatter or thinner? For all I care they could be little green men, they only resemble humans(humanoid) anyway and they are nubs not men by definition.

Why not implement rainbow coloured nubs.

Afternoon!
It's nice to see everyone interacting and getting involved with discussions here on the GodGame forums. We would like all members to express their ideas, as we want to get as much feedback as possible. We do not believe that this is the direction that we would take Genesis in. This game will be available to humans of all walks of life on this planet. It is our goal to make it as inclusive as possible.
There are many ideas we are hoping to implement over the coming months to show to all of you here on the GodGame forums. The idea that people with fairer skin are more attractive and successful than those of darker skin is not something we here at Opaque Media Group can support or condone.
Anybody who reads this comment, we hope that you to understand that we want to make a game that is available to everyone. That we as a society are made of different races, genders, sexes, sexualities, backgrounds and religions, which in our opinion are all equal. Please keep this in mind when making any further suggestions.
Stay rad!
Mitchell

The idea that people with fairer skin are more attractive and successful than those of darker skin is not something we here at Opaque Media Group can support or condone. I already explained that it is just one of the many characteristics known in the world, and one supported by actual facts. Also, not all "people", only women, as neoteny in men is not exactly attractive. Also, this deviates from the original point - the seemingly unrelated changes resulting from the environmental changes, such as food abundance. Not just getting fat, which is an individual change, but an emergent change spanning generations. I understand that your position as a company demands you to be politically correct (and political correctness is incompatible with facts in general), but the point of my suggestion is completely, utterly different.

Hey morsealworth As Media Lead in charge of the genesis project, I have recommended to Mitch that he no longer discuss this topic. Science does not discount the various ethical dilemmas that your suggestion provides, The answer is a firm no for implementing this suggestion into our game. Any further attempts to discuss this topic will be considered trolling. This being said we do have in mind some form of changes to the nublings based on player progress. Thank you for your suggestion. If you do not agree with this decision please feel free to email me at petra@opaque.media. Regards Petra

This being said we do have in mind some form of changes to the nublings based on player progress. Well, this is enough for me. Also, it is important to note that the thing I mentioned was a dynamic inside the given race, not between the races.
