I watched it and all I can say is I would be bored after about 5 minutes, but I guess I'm not the target audience. Nice to see where the godus cash went.

The graphics are far better than I thought they'd be able to do on mobile.

Only questions I have from scanning through that video has me wondering is how are they going to try and gouge the consumer for microtransactions and how much content before they charge a "reasonable" fee to unlock the next map?

I sincerely hope there is a lot more to the story and gameplay than walking around pulling seashells from racoon's butts.

So it is a walking simulator. I about died when the raccoon popped up. The only thing i could this is "Swiper, no swiping!". It is pretty, but then I never had any problems with the look of Godus.
I also wonder how they will try to milk people. Maybe this time it will be cosmetic items, so your guy doe snot look like a hobo any more.

I didn't see a lot of mechanics so far, and wonder how they're going to try and keep players interested. It looks to me like they're going for a very young demographic, but with a rather relaxed game. I don't know if that's a good idea, when younger people can hardly keep focused on anything that isn't super flashy as it is...

It's Peter's Zen dream. I am sure they will charge for shells and other "craft" materials, or for a bike so you can reach the mountain even faster which will never be completed you will just walk off the edge of the world.

Well, at least we now know where so much of the Godus assets went. It looks like they used Godus as a petri dish to cultivate all the features and mechanics for The Trail. They even stuck to similar art style & color pallette; I guess to define and establish a very specific "22Cans" aesthetic.
It looks like it's on rails, as in you can't veer off the defined 'trail' - which is heavily reminiscent of of Fable. Not exactly encouraging exploration, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It might do well on the mobile market, but certainly will receive lots of criticism from those burned on Godus.

Did anyone spot the timer?
I bet their gonna use that to "slow down" gamers who aren't playing the game the proper way.

Also, the distance between camps appears to be about 100 meters. Original campers must have been ant-sized.
Another thing I noticed. The bird really reminds me of Angry Birds.

These artists need to ditch 22cans. They make pleasant enough stuff, but the games they're attached to are so hideously shallow and dull.
I bet the "story" of this is a repeated sequence of, "Get x of y and go to a from b, ad infinitum!" I tried to give this a fair shake from viewing alone, but it literally seems to be an on-rails hiking trip with you just tapping along the path to collect stuff to craft stuff to either make you go faster and longer or to just sell for shits to give, er, chits to buy whatever.
As to wondering about how they're monetizing this, I have no idea what "favours" are related to but those are what they're selling. Alongside that is a starter pack with some basic equipment to give you a little headstart so you can, I presume, walk faster and gather stuff stuff like logs more immediately.
At its core, this could be an interesting little game, but yet again, it's squandered by condescension and arbitrary tedium.

I wonder if this is the final version we're seeing here? It looks a little rough around the edges. I do love the graphics, but there's a lot of awkward clipping problems (unless that deliberate and stylistic). The sound effects and animations for anything other than walking are jarring, particularly the item collection. It also feels a little odd that the recorded script abruptly stop after initating the first task.
Loads of obvious and boring opportunities for monetisation and paywalls. Extra bag space? Increased item spawn rates? Higher energy capacity? Also this is 22Cans so you'll probably be able to straight up buy whatever crafting materials you need from the shop. Super lazy implementation. We only see the first 10 minutes of gameplay in this trailer and it already looks like a grind. So I don't have high hopes for this, but it's probably not aimed at me.

I'd imagine that "Heart Energy" will be the first "soft sink"... until of course you hit a mountain pass that takes a significant amount of energy to complete, then it's Godus-like paywall time. &@*# those whales Peter... #*@( em hard.

Just noticed the developer is listed as Kongregate. Industry camouflage fail. nice try though ehh, that's really just the App Store, nothing sneaky. It doesn't display the developer – it only shows the publisher. Remember that Godus was published by DeNA.
