So to speak. It's going into game dev instead of providing tech for it, so they may still use their engine in some fashion, but it sounds like they won't bother supporting it for other devs past one last patch and selling a source copy of the engine. Not that this will probably matter all that much to Godus' dropped development, but I thought it was worth noting given the game's reliance on it.

This is what happens when you take so many years to finish a game. If 22Cans were smart they'd just point to this as a reason for abandoning GODUS as if they hadn't abandoned it already. Choosing marmalade was the decision that damned GODUS and all so they could develop it on mobile. Who knows, maybe they'll pick a new engine that supports Linux as promised. Hahahaha!

I am actually 100% sure this is what they'll do. This is just the Get Out of Jail Free card 22Cans has been hoping for. Godus must be a seriously awkward elephant in the room at the 22Cans studio, with everyone knowing that they are still obligated to develop it, but also painfully aware that there is no intention to do so. Now they can say they simply COULD NOT in, good faith, continue supporting this game on an obsolete platform... what a joke.

It'd be a different story if it turns out the Trail is also based on Marmelade...

Have they stated what beTrail was made with? A small part of me hopes it is Marmalade so I can laugh at them one last time. But that would make me a small mean little troll...... and in this one instance I think I might be OK with that.

From a quick snoop around in the data files, they've used Unity.
