I like drinking scotch, but I have to hand it to the Croatians, slivovice is frakking awesome stuff! I've been told it's best when it comes from the freezer. Yay slivovice! On a sidenote, inspired by a dish I had in a Croatian restaurant, I made the most awesome salad today. It involved a crop of lettuce, a lemon, a tomato, an onion, a bunch of capers, a bunch of olives, pepper, salt, chili powder, oregano and plenty of high grade olive oil. Also I had it accompanied by some well seasoned chicken filet from the oven and pasta. I'm so proud of myself. Croatia is having a great effect on me. Yay Croatia!

Slivovica is not just a Croatian drink. It's all-slavic, Polish and Chechs, for examploe, make it. It Russia, though, it was first got its place taken by mead, then by vodka.

Oh yes I was not inferring that it is purely a Croatian drink. But since I am in Croatia and it is here that I have first heard of and tried a slivovice I celebrate Croatia for introducing me to it.

Oh. You should really try mead (медовуха, medovuha) next. Mead makes me think of Settlers 6: Rise of an Empire. Anyway, what's the alcohol percentage for mead? Sidenote: I can't help but notice that you haven't yet voted for the World Championship thread yet.

There are different types with different alcohol percentages. It's a whole culture. The only common thing is honey as a base for fermentation.

I don't have the tongue for mead. All tasted like wine to me, 'n' I don't like wine I have been told by others that mead is great stuff, though. Had a German friend ask me to package and post a buttload of mead to him as it worked out cheaper if a friend sent it over compared to the ridiculous P&P of the place. Apparently it was good.

One thing I can say about slivovice. My keyboard doesn't agree with it. I managed to accidentally spill one drop of the stuff on my numpad and now it's giving me all kinds of hell. I hope it shall bee better tomorrow.
