Monkeythumbz and Matthew Allen, could you please provide us with a list of all the god powers that are either in the game right now, are ready to be implemented or are scheduled to be worked on in the future? I am very curious if powers like earthquakes and tornadoes and tidal waves and such have actually been worked on so far.

Is there a "Fix Shitty Game" god power planned?
Um.
I'll just sit quietly over here.

God powers are supposed to be the major feature in the game yet in a year and a half we have barely heard or seen anything of them.

I think it would be cool if they could make a God power where you could turn your followers or enemies into certain animals that are then forced to carry out certain deeds for you for a limited amount of time. Like I could make Ba'al my jackass and have him haul me around from town to town all day.
This could also be an example of who you can have a store and not be a F2p game. This is a superficial perk that is an option you could buy if you wanted, but would not hinder any actual gameplay without it.

I'll see if I can rope a few designers up to ask about this and other god powers (they have a better handle on what's slated for future ages). Stuff is always subject to change, of course, but I'll see if I can get something even somewhat broad for you guys.

Hooray! So god powers are going to be tied to ages then. I didn't know that. While you're talking to the guys can you ask if they could post a short video of a god power (not like beautify) in action? Even if it's an unfinished god power and the video only lasts 5 seconds it could be a cool little snippet. EDIT: I think showing off an awesome god power that is to come even if far in the future could do a lot to offset the overall flowerful deliciousness we've been presented with so far. It would give people a glance at what goodness lies in store. Personally I would really love to see a tidal wave wash away a beach town area.

George has a list of questions from another thread to toss Jack's way sometime soon, so I'll probably piggy back the god powers questions onto his batch as well. Jack's been pretty slammed with design stuff this week, but we'll be making some time for it at the first opportunity.

Hi everyone, I managed to grab some time with Jack this morning for a response to this thread.
Right now, the additional god powers we have planned are Tsunami and Earthquake. We have plans to schedule in design work for more god powers after the summer, but we’ve not committed to specific god powers as yet because we’d prefer to create them in response to to how the game evolves, both in terms of its feature development and feedback from players, either from comments or gameplay analytics.
Currently, with only Homeworld playable in the current build, aggressive god powers seem out of place, so we will likely explore non-aggressive god powers first and save aggressive ones for when we re-implement multiplayer battles, which may not necessarily be limited to Hubworld.

I fail to see how you can cruft up god powers based on how players are currently playing with or without other/different god powers.

Regarding tidal waves, I hope there will be ways in which the player can affect how the wave turns out rather than having one that is always the same. For example it would be cool if you could determine both the origin of the wave and the main direction of it. (doesn't mean the wave couldn't go in other directions as well) Also I'd hope for various degrees of size. Some sort of logarithmic scale could be involved to determine the cost of using it. For example, a class 1 tidal wave costs 100,000 belief but it only gives you a modest rimple, a class 2 costs 1,000,000 but it has a bigger effect on things. Imagine inflicting a class 10 wave upon some poor other player and watching it penetrate far into the landscape washing away entire mountains in the process. Of course that would then cost about 100,000,000,000,000 (100 trillion) belief so you'd have to be a very powerful god to use it. Clash of the titans!

"Tsunami" really expensive and slow god power which is pointless because it has zero affect on homeworld, 'cause straights be afeared o' competition and risk.

It would be nice if you did have a more sweeping destructive God power just for your homeworld too. Sometimes you just want to get rid of the lower level houses and I found myself having to go around house by house with the finger of God. It was quite tedious after awhile.

That should all change with the Settlements revamp.

Currently, with only Homeworld playable in the current build, aggressive god powers seem out of place, so we will likely explore non-aggressive god powers first and save aggressive ones for when we re-implement multiplayer battles, which may not necessarily be limited to Hubworld. You know, or they could just provide the occasional enemy to smite in the Homeworld, or as part of Challenges during Voyages/AI Battles. But, again, it's been brought up and suggested before. There's just very little motivation to actually grow and expand the Homeworld currently, except when you eventually venture into the Hubworld - except, not everyone wants to play that aspect of the game; we were promised a balanced Single Player side of the game, as many players/backers prefer SP games. And adding meaningful purpose for destructive/aggressive God Powers in the Homeworld - like squashing enemies, smiting the unbelievers, or occasionally wiping the slate clean because your people are misbehaving (or you just don't like the village layout) - would be something that would lend some exciting and purposeful mechanics; otherwise, they (destructive/aggressive God Powers) are meaningless, and worthless.

Do you think they could also add something similar to what Sim City has with the building aging? If we are going to get to a point where ages are happening it would make sense that building also age. This way the building you make in the beginning of your age are clean and pristine and as the age progresses those building get dirtier and start to fall apart until such a time comes when you need to rebuild it? This would also give players something else to do. If a players "cares" about a clean island they would would to search out the older ones in need of replacement, but if a player did not "care" they could just let them rot and make the followers deal. This seems another way to make you more of a God where you decide how your followers will be treated in that respect. You could also have the followers then in turn react to the old versus the new buildings. Some type of a quick drop to their knees and pray for a better home or a half naked jungle happy dance when they get one.
