Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know that we will be releasing the first bits of proper insight about how we're revamping how Settlements work on the 22cans blog tomorrow, as well as detailing the new automatic Belief collection mechanic. Lots has changed for the better even this week in terms of what we are designing for Settlements, their workers and the resources they generate. So, while I was previously going to be sharing all our plans in full, it definitely makes more sense to share how we're thinking about it now and then follow up with confirmed details once everything has been locked down, rather than having to back-track if certain lines of thought prove to be technical dead ends. This way, we manage your expectations with the greatest degree of truth and the minimum amount of hype. I must stress that a lot of this stuff is still being concepted and protoyped to check that we can do it, but (stepping on the hype train for a brief moment), personally speaking I'm already pretty excited and am confident that these changes (among some others we're discussing and investigating) will make you feel more powerful, more god-like and more attached to your Homeworld than at any point to date. Looking forward to sharing the first details tomorrow. PS: Btw, we posted a guide to building Abodes on high level ground on our blog today, but since you're not beginners I didn't think you needed a separate post for it.

Settlements wise: This sounds good, I look forward to reading it.
Guide wise: It's good you are doing these, but I think having to do it indicates there is a problem with how the system works at the moment. It'd be nice if you could add a "We will be making this clearer in game at a later date" type message. Similarly with the screenshot, it's currently showing small stone houses which you aren't actually able to build at the moment, which you might want to avoid having in the shots until they are back in the game.

Only had a brief look over (watching the footie!), but the one thing that jumped out at me was vertical buildings - that'd be pretty feakin awesome!

The statue of automated belief collection entirely missed the point in typical 22Cans fashion, but the rest of the ideas look promising and appear to have taken feedback into consideration. I'm looking forward to seeing these ideas realised in the game.

To me the belief collection statue is a fail.
As for the settlements I look forward to hearing and seeing more.

A belief collection statue just feels very dead. Sure it'll be nice to have, but it just does exactly the same job a settlement does and adds nothing to the atmosphere. It's just an extra little thing you will have to build. Call it a Shamans hut, make it look like a shamans hut & have a character wonder around collecting the belief bubbles and it'll make it way better.

Glad to see a focus on getting multilayer settlements. I see there's a concept image of a tiered structure, but nothing really specifically stated about this; will there be any work towards bringing multiple levels (floors) to the buildings, as well as the multilayer settlement? I really miss the diversity of the buildings and various plot sizes of pre-v2.0 Godus. I agree that the Statue of Collection is just taking the place of the same thing that Settlements do, though I think some confusion might be clarified if their use was defined more distinctly; are they doing away with the Settlements collecting belief, replacing it with the statue - or will the statue be an extra item that you can build to collect belief without having to place a Settlement? I am glad they are at least putting some effort into trying to satisfy this request, but it still feels like they're not 100% listening (they really seem to love Statues and Shrines). The suggestion that, instead, just changing the model from a statue to something like a Church or Shamen hut would appease many people - wether or not it has a specified follower that physically goes to collect the belief (but that would be the preferred goal, ideally). And, as far as the GUI improvements, has there been any more discussion about desktop shortcuts or keybinds, and can you share anything about that at this time?

Will the revamp/rewrite stop FoG triggering settlements ages before they are in any way viable? By that I mean new shiny restart clean of .178 optin sees F0G to remove the initial shelters magically trigger the settlement when I'm only halfway to have the population for settlements. Bit of a show stopper you need double the current population and you need abodes but to build abode you need the crops you need double the population to start to get... Just when I thought I seen all the settlement idiocies. I'll raise a support case but this is starting to get silly. [Edit] Raised. Notice also the settlement tutorial label, in a game which has never had the settlement tutorial run!

You're not posting it on the board anymore? Will do, it was a Friday and we had team drinks down the pub I didn't want to miss. Matthew or I will take care of that later on today.

does anybody thinks that we get really any real answers or real development to the pc version We've fired some questions taken from the forums over to Jack and we'll probably run them by Peter as well for elaborations as needed. Both Jack and Peter are super busy, so there's no ETA on when these questions will get back to us. But we have indeed sent a few dozen questions their way for now. We'll be keeping you all updated as we hear back from Jack and/or Peter.

Maybe not answers but some of the other threads around here have, for me at least sparked some understanding and dare I say a little hope, but then I know my self to be to trusting at times and always willing to give a 4th, 5th 10th chance.
