Who's up for a little competition? I thought it might be fun to arrange one for the World Cup that has just started. He/she who wins will get... something. I'm not quite sure what exactly but I'm considering putting up €25,- for the winner. It's not much but it should be enough to get one or two cases of beer depending on where you live. Qetesh is giving me the stinky eye right now so I'll have to see how that pans out. How does it work?
It's quite simple. For each match of the World Cup I will create a thread where people can post their prediction for the outcome of the match. All people who predict the outcome for a match correctly will receive 3 points. Everyone who didn't predict the correct score but did predict the winner of the match correctly will receive 1 point. For the matches that have to be decided by extra play time or penalties to determine a winner, only the result of the match before the extra play time or penalties will be considered. If you post your prediction for a match in the wrong thread you won't get any points so make sure you stay sharp. Also, once you post your prediction, do not edit your post otherwise it will be determined invalid and you will receive no points. Make sure you post your prediction before the match starts or it will not be counted. I will keep track of the scores and keep a regularly updated ranking list in a separate thread.
In addition to scoring points for matches you can win an extra 10 points by predicting the eventual winner of the World Cup. I will make a new thread for this. The thread will be open for posting only for a limited amount of time. After all teams have played at least one match of the tournament I will lock the thread, so that should be somewhere on the 18th of June. If you haven't gotten your prediction in by then you will not be able to receive the 10 bonus points. You are free to change your prediction until the thread is closed but do NOT edit your post. Simply make a new post on the thread with your revised prediction. If you edit your post you will not receive the 10 bonus points even if your prediction was correct.
