Sorry I meant I try not to go for the full flat lands as well. I will flatten a mountaintop to create a path to another general flat area. I prefer like you to have interesting areas. I really wish I could create discrete villages or cities instead of one sprawling mass of houses. Maybe is they increased the scale of the land mass and make some way of forming a "horde" to migrate to a new city site.

I hardly ever flattened the land in order to get chests. Usually double clicking worked well enough and dig me out a nice small hole. But there are ways to get around it. 'Look underground' power. - x-ray vision for land, allows you to see a few layers into the ground revealing hidden chests and resource deposits. 'Dig for treasure' command to a follower, where you specify a place in which a follower should look. They take a shovel and make bunch of small holes in an area and either find a chest or not. holes are cosmetic only.
I like an idea with hints letting you on a treasure hunt.

I like that idea too, it would make it more interesting and allow the player to more a part of the game.

Am I the only ones who thinks that a treasure hunt is a thing for men, not gods? Gods may send them for hunt, they may make treasures, they may guide them in thier harsh adventure to who-knows-where... But gods are gods, the do not have interest in aything other than their loyal believers. The only material things they accept are accepten not because they are material, but because they are sacrificed. It's just a form of strong prayer, a deal between the god and the one who is seeking their help and guidance.
Anything else is an immersion break due to OOC.

I would "automatize" building abodes as well, because I do not think it should be a God's task to plan towns (though I enjoy doing it). It's a bit too controlled. Of course we should have dozens of indirect ways to influence our followers. The most important thing - I think - is that our followers should be smart as an individual and as a community, responding to their God's actions in a logical way (and that shouldn't be all about where to build things but rather about more ... universal (?) things). That's why I am excited to see the commandments working, and how they really have an affect on the followers. (Off-topic: and this is my first post in the forum, Hi everyone)

It would be awesome if your followers entered a sort of gold rush where they mined away looking for the treasure, bringing it to the town if they find it. Maybe you could place a totem on a portion of landscape that told the followers "X marks the spot" and they dig in that location.

Okay some good points about the treasure hunt, but the way it is now feels like we are actually slaves. Exactly. A god is not supposed to dig from the fence till dinner (Russian proverb).

Maybe I wasn't clear, but that's what I'm talking about as well. Treasure "hunt" - and in my opinion abode building too - should NOT be a god's task (or chore). Followers should respond to their god's needs and commands, and not the other way around.
