As a side-effect of the Kickstarter/Steam forum comparison thread, I've been talking about the development history and digging through my old posts to find past conversations. I even linked a few pertinent threads that were discussing how mobile has been officially in development well before June. Today, I went into my history and suddenly large numbers of my posts are now the property of "This item was moved or deleted." Most are from early March, but some go as far back as mid-September.
So, if you're an old-timer from the Steam forums, don't count on being able to point to an old thread to prove any points. Someone's decided to erase parts of the past...

Really? Damn, I was hoping to go back and catalog all the suggestions I've made, and re-posting them here (mostly for posterity).
Now, the questions is; is it a Steam Mod, a 22Cans Mod, or just an automatic 'old-thread cleansing' mechanism of Steam forum? I am not aware of any "aging out" of old threads on Steam - e.g. the server archives old topics past a certain timeframe has past - but it's possible.
EDIT: There must be some way of determining WHO is responsible, I would think.

My post history shows previous and later threads still accessible. Someone's sifting through the history and pruning things. So far, it seems like most are early complaint threads, but the forums weren't very controlled back then and we tended to meander off-topic frequently. I still have a good number of posts in my history from those deleted threads but I'm also observing posts that have vanished entirely and have no idea where they've gone. Some of which, I can find posts that talk about the missing conversations. It's a very strong coincidence that threads started being pruned when the topic of post history came up. With us on the last stretch toward the 1 year anniversary of Early Access, that history is going to come into play more often. As is, it's already becoming difficult to disprove that mobile development was going on before June. Thankfully, PM's many interviews in March/April can't be deleted by a moderator.

Anybody from any forum that wants to copy and paste their posts from all viewpoints is welcome to do so here. We won't be pruning anything in the foreseeable future.

Looking back over some of the topic threads I participated in, way back in October (so far, I haven't found any marked Deleted or Moved... yet), you could literally take most of them and apply them to the current build complaints and feedback. It's astounding how little things have changed, or at least how much of the feedback is still applicable today. Reminds me of the running theme mantra of BSG, "All this has happened before, and will happen again.".

sadly, the mindset of "ban or delete and it shall go away, reality ignored" is strongly represented in 22candyass's philosophy.

How about this gem from March 5, 2014:
Those were more innocent days back then. We were so young and idealistic...

Wait, what? This is news to me, it's certainly not an activity I've initiated. This happened over the weekend?

For the record, I'm not saying that I would never delete a thread, (I have done so for one or two of the very early threads on this board) but if I were to tidy up this place it would be far more likely that I would move threads into an archive section where they'd still be available to anyone.

I wasn't the one that noticed or reported it, that was earlparvisjam who says some were deleted/moved. Perhaps he's just now noticing posts are gone that were deleted/moved a long time ago? I skimmed my Steam posts last night - all 36 pages of them - and didn't immediately see any marked deleted/moved - unless of course, they wouldn;t show up at all, in which case I don't know how I'd see them.

If anything like that is occurring, it'll be Steam doing it themselves. I've not conducted nor requested such activity - it'd be like PR suicide doing so!

Well, now you'll be glad to hear that I'm no longer seeing the "This item was moved or deleted" threads in my history. I'm not sure if whatever pruning was reversed or I'm not seeing the threads at all any more. I'll be reviewing my older history since I'm not sure if the change was reversed or whoever did the removal figured out how to remove from history as well. I probably should have taken screen shots for reference but what's past is past...

(Or maybe they archive posts until someone attempts to load them.) Just a guess, but it doesn't sound like there was anyone behind it...

It's just odd that I was digging through history 2 days ago just fine and after posting links to some of the older Godus threads in my history start to have issues. At least I am sure I can still link some of the more important threads from back then and this whole situation has egged me into revisiting the past more thoroughly...
