OK, you may think this is off topic but stay with me for a moment as I was going through Peters dreams while also looking at this game and the similarities are striking.
Peters dream: PD: You would have guilds that you could join and work together with. DK: Dungeon keeper has guilds that you join and can borrow minions from donate gold/minions and work towards general achievements on
PD: You have a home world which you build then take followers from you home world to attack others DK: you have you dungeon where you summon minions from which you then take into battle with other keepers
PD: you can visit other people lands. DK: You can visit other people Dungeons.
PD: Things take a long time to happen but Gems can sort this out. DK: Living the PM dream! A level 8 storage rom takes 4 days to build or 500 gems.
It will be interesting to see how Godus mobile turns out but I'm half expecting a DK rip off!

Lol. Does this mean that Peter Molyneux's uber secret new way of implementing free-to-play is already out?

I must be a sad panda as I kind of like Dungeon keeper, not that I plan to spend any money and just log in from time to time during work to slap an imp or start building something or raid some one. Not if this was on PC I would be pissed and would not touch it. But then I have different expectations from a mobile game.

I have different expectations from a mobile game. If memory serves me well I think that this was exactly what Peter Molyneux was hoping to change with Godus.

They also have the equivalence of the belief bubbles with sources that run out daily and not to be refilled or your island gets all these ulgy red exclamation points on them, if you get too many your guildmates consider you inactive and can threaten to remove you from the guild. You really need the guild to play the game or you will most likely never progress beyond a certain point, plus it would be damn boring. These game play features are the very reason that thus far, I am very disappointed in the game.

First of all I can't believe you still manage to waste your time on that crap, but okay. Secondly I think that it might be better if you started a thread about Settlers Online instead of posting about that "game" in every thread that is related to FTP games. You naughty naughty woman. ***fingerswish*** Nevermind, I just did it for you. godus.boards.net/thread/40/

Dude, it is an F2P game so whenever the subject comes it, I mentioned it. I also mentioned a few other games like the Zinga ones, but you go Mr. Mod man......I play the game only because of the great people I met on it. I have no desire to talk about it other than how it was directly related and ON TOPIC with the whooping two threads at the time.
Now where is that vat of oil, for you to boil me in?

I still pay for the ability to play WOW too, but I think if I really get into that game I would pay whatever it cost to get the extras and that is not even a F2P game.

You know, I used to rage about these games before.
I've been playing: - Lord of Ultima Online (before it died) - Starts off slow then becomes WAY too demanding. Worse than any MMO. - Tiberium Alliances: It's okay but not very rewarding strategically - Settlers Online: Was really fun until I completed it (well, I hit the 'grindy' bit) - Megapolis: Seriously dull and has too much "spam your friends with requests!" - Dungeon Keeper Mobile: Enjoyable in bursts of 20 minutes a day or so.
The only one of these games that I ever spent money on was £10 on Settlers Online because I was actually enjoying myself. They had the whole element of "production line optimization" that I loved from the real-time Settlers games.
But I've fast realized that these games are at the right pace for MANY people. They're like having a Tamagotchi in that you have to tend to it every now and then. Some people LOVED that.
Now, if you're impatient and don't want to have to wait until tomorrow or later in the day to make more "meaningful choices" then you can pay2skip. Similar to buying more lives in Candy Crush, it's in place to milk the addicted who are perfectly willing to pay for extra play time and too impatient to wait.
Truth is, this is the kind of game that Godus will become. Hopefully it'll be good enough quality on the PC to be worth the money we paid and not feel like a "free" game.

Yes, I do fear the PC game may take a back row though as the mobile has the greatest opportunity to make money in short term.. I've come to the conclusion I may need to delete DK of my phone as last night one of my kids got up at 3AM needing the toilet. While waiting for them to finish I though I'll just fire up DK to slap the imps to get the 2* bonus for an hour. How sad is that!

I used to play the Farmville, Restuarant Wars..........ect........you name it, FB games. I swear at one point I had like 2 hours a day of stuff that needed to be "dealt" with. One game had you make as many friends as you could so I ended up with a few thousand friends from that. I totally filled up my wall with posts from strangers so that was another reason I ditched out on FB. I will never play one of those games again.
