22cans and Godus

You're not the only one. When I think back now about how I felt back in November last year, I was so excited. Over the course of development of Godus this excitement has faded into a dim and somewhat painful memory as disappointment was stacked upon disappointment.

Indeed things have been going downhill over there ever since the augurs were instated. It didn't take long before I received my 'official warning'.

Well I once posted this responding on someone saying trees giving buffs was pretty lame.



Soon after I received a PM stating the following.

I never got a warning. But they moved, merged and deleted a lot of my threads and postings. It took a while to realise that. Sometimes they deleted my postings a few seconds after i wrote them.

They are really good in manipulating the community. I hate such things. It makes me suspicious. Look at the forum completly about manipulating people. Staff most of the time posting to positive threads (with postings like: "that's great want to see more of this"). Mods deleting postings without warning. Even some of the backer made me suspicious. Extremly positive first time postings after month without any posting.

Then the "Alpha Incident". One Update, then a voting and then ... completly miffed. If they had told me that they need money and they would give us something to compensate the alpha access i would have said ok, do it. But i got the feeling they wanted to invest as little as possible in the backers (hand signed artwork ... yes it's a little bit of work to sign that much artworks, but really do it 10min a day and you are through bevor godus is released finally).

There was never openness. Sorry.

What do you think the other rewards will be and what about the making of they wanted to do? I am pretty sure it will be all video updates in one big Video. As I said, expect the lowest possible Level you can think about and it will only be a little bit less.

But on the other hand i hope someone will make the great game it could have been.

October is only halfway done. Allow me to help you with the math there, that's about 1 post a week. A new one is probably just around the corner. Besides, even if there's only two posts so far this month, that's still infinite times more than what 22cans have posted since they've posted absolutely nothing.

I'm not a fan, I only found out about that project fairly recently and I only check in from time to time. I made a comparison between the way that guy handles his project versus how a whole team of 20+ developers handle this project.

Indeed. It's been a while since they took the kickstarter 'promises' and went completely the other way. But then again, what 'promises' are still left to be broken?

Come to think of it, I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't going to be a Linux version. Or if they announced that the one player story line by James Leach isn't going to happen.
