Now HERE is a game that I don't regret backing. stonehearth.net/Think "Dwarf Fortress means Minecraft". While progress may be slow, I like the team. They actually communicate and stream regularly and are very friendly and transparent towards the backers/early access. Infact, I like the team so much that I feel compelled to recommend the game to others. They're planning a lot and it feels like they'll do it... eventually!

Could you tell us a bit about what the game is about?

Sure! I'll give my own explanation from what I've played and what I've got from the developers. In Stonehearth, you start with a group of citizens and some basic tools and resources. The people have free will but will mostly fulfill tasks that you need doing, when they're not eating or sleeping or sitting by the fire. So far, you can cut down trees for logs and gather berries from bushes. You can construct houses, place beds, tables and chairs in them, surround them with fences, etc. In future releases, you'll be able to train your people into soldiers, archers, magic users and other combat professions. Your town/city will be attacked by increasingly dangerous hordes of various creatures that you'll have to defend against to survive. The aim of the game is to survive as long as possible and get as many people/resources as possible. There is no win condition. Each civilian can be trained along a tech-tree, Carpenters can become Armorsmith/Weaponsmiths and you can train Trappers into Hunters or Shepherds. There's much more planned for the game but you can find a development tracker here: stonehearth.net/roadmap/

Sounds interesting. How long have they been developing and how long until estimated release date?
