In every game there has ever been that was centered around a system of belief, the manna would gather automatically. Not so in Godus! In Peter Molyneux's reinvention of the god game genre this manna has to be collected by the 'gamer'. I write 'gamer' between quotes because with the current state of affairs it is hard to determine whether Godus is actually a game. Because the manna, or belief as Peter now likes to call it, has to be collected manually it feels less like a game and more like a chore. What's more, the way Peter Molyneux has chosen to represent this belief is by showing pretty pink bubbles above all the houses. The 'gamer' has to pop each bubble by clicking on it to gain the belief. What is the reason behind this system of belief gathering and why is it better than the good old automated gathering?

I hate the pink bubbles. My hands still hurt from clicking so many of them.

They make a noise when you click on them? :c
I never liked the bubbles anyway!

I only click the biggest ones. I really did go a bit nuts playing in the beginning, thinking it would just get better if I kept going. It took months of not playing to get rid of that pain.

It's like providing something boring to take away the focus from the boredom.

It's like providing something boring to take away the focus from the boredom. I guess, but it reminds me of Settlers Online, where you have to refill the wells, wheatfields, mines daily. Ugh. I love my peeps on that game in my guild but I dred that stuff. Any game feature that feels like work, should not be a part of gameplay. I also would like a way besides fighting to get those cards. Give me something more interesting to click that will get them. Let me click my people and have cause and effect to it. Let me build temples and have them go and pray or school to learn stuff like in Populous.

A noise? Ah you mean if I'm dumb enough to play with an enabled sound device, never going to happen. I though they were to track the areas of your touch screen that would be worn out and need a 22Cans approved discounted hardware purchase.

There is something disturbing about that pony beside my tagname...
Hmmh I'd not expected it to change it retrospectively too.

Did you try previous 22Cans creation? Curiosity showed them that tapping is addictive and can make people spend money. My guess is they wanted to incorporate that addictive feature.
