How did Space Engineers drop the ball? I know of Starforge's dull release state, but I thought Space Engineers was coming along somewhat nicely by comparison.

Space Engineers didn't yet, but there are a number of other games (StarForge primary in this genre) that didn't have things go as planned. I didn't mean to imply that Space Engineers dropped the ball - just that its a very ambitious project with a lot of pitfalls.

So I decided to be a buzzkill on their greenlight page asking for why a small demo cut couldn't be available now and if they'll consider one. StarForge did this same thing more or less, impressive trailers and all that, then when it came to launch it was stripped down and by release it wasn't even comparable to what they set out to do. I think it's reasonable to request more proof than what was shown in the trailers and their explanation on their Kickstarter page as a result. Given, these guys might be tighter than the CodeHatch team was, but we can't really know one way or another without some elaboration.

Can't blame ya. There's a lot of people thinking they can run a business these days just because they can put down a few lines of code.
