I'd be amazed if Elite: Dangerous didn't come to PS$ and made use of Sony's Project Morpheus. That's probably the experience I'll wait for, I just really like how the game feels in VR. I wonder how a PS controller would stack up against someone playing with M/KB or someone playing with a proper flightsim designed controller. Though from what I've seen of Elite: Dangerous its a pretty beefy game, so its entirely possible that the PS4 will struggle with it regardless.

The trackpad could be used as a slider for your ship's throttle, so it's eminently doable. As for GFX, I'm sure the Cobra engine supports scaling. I don't think the first-party platform holders would allow multiplayer with PC or different consoles, though.

Not entirely familiar with other existing PS4 multiplayer titles (not a console gamer as you may have noticed) - how do other non-subscription PS4 titles deal with persistent online worlds if there are any? It seems unlikely that "Frontier Developments" will foot the bill for two seperate persistent servers/worlds?
Honestly, that particular element (persistent world without subscription) still feels like a high risk factor for me to begin with. If you see that even subscription titles such as Earth & Beyond couldn't sustain themselves in the end.

You can play MMOs on PS4, but only with other PS4 players. It's a closed ecosystem (or walled garden, as it were).

Well I meant more like, how are they funded/maintained if there are no monthly subscription fees (or are there only those with subs)? Cause that may well prove to be Elite's biggest stumbling block (unless they go for the micro-transaction route and we all know the pitfalls of that particular path by now).

MMOs on PS4 are a mix of subs and F2P w/ MTX.

ELITE: DANGEROUS is out today from now. A bit of "air" for "real game" people. =)
