Holy hell... He almost sounds just like Molyneux.... Jack... if you're reading this... please... for the love of everything that is holy in game development... don't cross the line into Peter's overhyping/over promising shenanigans.. please... Thanks Do you think he'll release it as text that you discover in blue chests?

Thanks I wouldn't say that. If it were Molyneux, he'd be making it out to be something more than it is. As I read that, it just sounds like Jack's passionate and excited about what he's up to, but at the same time knows it would be dumb to reveal it too soon. I've had moments like that where I know exactly what I'm thinking of and get excited about it, and may mumble off stuff like that, but I also recognize that it's still too undeveloped for anyone else to get excited over. It's not like he's going, "This story's absolutely revolutionary. It's a step forward for game narratives across the board. You'll care about every little character you interact with and feel heartbreak for them unlike you ever have in another game before." Now that sounds like Molyneux.

While I agree with you, I did try to express that I though Jack was getting quite close to a line PM crossed years ago, not that he had already. I suppose my reaction to the quote was Pavlovian in a sense since I recall PM making a similar statement about Godus... Maybe I'll go find it after I wake up a bit.

Thanks Though if we're being fair, an obsession with story during super early pre-production is definitely not a Molyneux trait. Do you think he'll release it as text that you discover in blue chests? Maybe. You can sometimes see a bit of this in the old Peter and Jack videos. So Jack might benefit greatly from having full control over a project for once. Anyway, just my two cents.* * Yay for awkwardly riding a fine line when it comes to talking about ex-coworkers!

Hahaha, you make great points. :3 I really do hope that Jack surpasses Molyneux where good game design and thoughtful production is concerned.. maybe I should just stop early-morning-angry posting. sigh.

I would be amused if Jack becomes an 'Industry Great' by virtue of simply using PM as a go to example of what not to do.

(I think the subtitle "An interactive period drama" could use some rethinking.)

I don't see Jack making peters mistakes about hype and broken promises but I do expect his game will be targeted at the casual audience. Happy to be surprised though if it's PC orientated.

Here is an important point, especially when starting up a new development studio. Establishing your development pipeline and how well you're able to make content together is one of the more important things to get right early, preferably ironing out any problems with the least amount of risk on a small title, then work on something a bit larger when you feel you can better estimate your team's ability vs. time (and ultimately, money). Plus at this point, you and others would feel more comfortable in backing new projects once you have tested the waters already with some proof of work. One of the things that 22cans did right with Curiosity - What's in the Box?

I got blocked by Wil Wheaton on Twitter; He posted a while back that he accidentally blocked a large number of followers. I can't even re-tweet him.
