Monkeythumbz et al,
A few more ideas:
1.) Don't let treasure chests become dull. Treasure chests contain "stickers" and the rare gem. Why not more? How about the rare chest containing a "power" or "gift" not available elsewhere? Or extra wheat or ore? Or a "scroll" with an important hint. Searching for and opening treasure chests could be much, much more exciting. And find a way to let players know about the NEW more exciting treasure chests.
2.) Now that you've done away with the power to permanently "beautify" don't miss the opportunity to repackage permanent beautify as "enchant," "sanctify" or something of the kind and make it available for so many gems. I'm still annoyed that I mucked up some of my permanent beautify with the much diminished time limited beautify and would likely pay for another permanent beautify power (and I'm relatively sane). Sell the power as the ability to make areas of your domain into a "paradise" or "Eden," etc..
3.) Fishermen or fishing village. All of the lands of Godus are surrounded by water,... dull, uneventful water. Make this part of Godus exciting by adding large, moving schools of sea fish (which are clearly distinct from the school of fish gift) and fishing settlements with fishermen to reap the harvest of the oceans! How can you (or your players) resist?
4.) Volcano! Every simulated world deserves a volcano but I can't seem to locate mine. And the kicker is that gem seams lie thick about the base of the volcano. But the problem is that sometimes there's a minor eruption which may destroy your mining village if it's in the way! Depth, drama, gems and flowing lava animations! Cool! Players can even sculpt the sides of the volcano if they're crazy enough... This is better than floods and it won't annoy players. Believe me if I update Godus and discover that fifty abodes were flooded away I'm gonna be peeved and I don't even care that much.
5.) Enough with the thunderstorm EVERY night. New weather effects please.
6.) More on the "Master Craftsman" idea:
For five or ten gems you would get twenty or thirty Master Craftsmen (or women). This would work best for farmers and miners. Touching an abode or individual would create one "Master Craftsman" who would generate a full mine or wheat plain twenty five percent faster; and the thing is that their clothing would change too! With the farmer the cone hat might turn into an Amish style straw hat and white shirt with a bow tie; in a similar fashion the master miner might have a little hard hat etc.. It would be somewhat like your Christmas outfit idea only better because there is substance and additional playing depth behind it. Whether this power is always available or you "unlock" it at some point is an open question. What exactly it would cost and how many "experts" you get is an open question too.
Wow! Great ideas and their all free! Happy New Year!
Cheers,
