So I'm on Android, in Weyworld and am trying to take over the Astari village to the south-east. I've just cleared the beacon of expansion and now I'm building quite close to the Astari. But there's two obstacles which I'm not sure about.
* "Cannot sculpt under Astari village" - This is not allowing me to bridge the sand gaps and have my followers walk over to their land. I guess I can't touch the village until I've unlocked all the beacons?
* Purple ghostly coloured land. It says only monastries can be built on top. I'm working towards that now - but apart from providing more belief, do they help in allowing me to take over the Astari village?
And what happens if say, my followers walk into the path of enemy Astari? I've heard of wars and such, but perhaps that's only the PC version?

Not until you've integrated or annihilated the astari. So not beacon based. Until you have befriended or remove them you will not be able to sculpt into their areas. I had a lot of 'stuck' followers when I played the PC version here when they nearly kind of were able to path find to astari village but not so much and got stuck. I'm not seeing a convenient spot that I can sculpt i.e. not actually into astari lands (across the villages in weyworld), maybe the land you have been able to sculpt falls within the boundaries of their pathing ability/limits of not being able to sculpt astari so you will be able to convert all the astari mid-festival... No, just more belief I believe.
I've removed about half the astari, one way and the other, in my droid version. Not actually seen astari combat per se, for me astari festivals just result in population movement. My weyworld is still hand to mouth in terms of too few mines and fields to produce the resources for larger population growth. Which was a bonus in playing voyages previously, a quick way (from weyworld) of back filling the resource issues. Taking care to launch them from weyworld of course not the more resource available homeworld where they make no difference!
I've no archers in either my weyworld or homeworld in droid, though homeworld astari are dealt with I'm stuck there with a week long beacon build, and my PC game had already dealt with the astari before archers were introduced.

I guess it's back to burning down villages then. But If I do that then the game's pretty much over. I can see that resources such as wheat and ore might need to be balanced. Going to wait for my Astari abodes to fill up before I burn down the villages.

An update to my earlier response.
I *cough* accidentally hit multiple astari villages with ye olde flaming rocks, and I've discovered that IF you can cause a disjoint/gap/water between the temple and the rest of that astari village you CAN sculpt - and get the embedded chests, and also it seems collect their crops and belief! Crops and belief appears to to refill, maybe killing the farmers and not refilling yet since its all unexpanded/greyed land between them and me...
I had used them on them before but one of the 'islands' appears to auto repair itself, there is quite a thick level of ground in one of the village above water, the other two where the temples are a half dozen layers clear appear to if you get the meteor just right, leave the indestructible temple in one piece and scoop out the land around it, meaning you can leverage it even if the astari themselves are not (yet) completely removed/absorbed.
It does take ages to get 6k of believe per though...
I also noticed that their festival window moved. Originally it was around 8pm for me, after a week or so that had edged towards 11pm. Two days ago it jumped to 6am - not quite sure why but in one attempt to make sure I was as happy as possible pre-festival I noticed that it said 14 hrs rather than the 2 I was expecting at the time...
Not sure if that was the game in some odd suspension state, which I've seen previously with fountains not continuing when I'm offline - or related to a mobile update whether the one it always goes looking for (presumably balance file) or the google play update I got yesterday.
So I expect the undermining of astari by flying rocks to be removed in a future update, much as they made them immune to swamp when PC players found that was a useful way to weaken them.

First off was this on PC? I'm sure the last build or so they allowed sculpting in the Astari village but you still couldn't settle there. I think if you beat them by out happying them (and get all their population) you can build in the villages. I wanted to test out what Moo said about the meteors and swipe length deciding power and seeing this post thought I'd try it out around Astari villages. Well I couldn't get any control over meteors it made very big holes, it did get rid of the land around the village. I'll post a screenshot, but it is very strange behaviour. still can't settle the land though. cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/ugc/546393553631865187/26DC755EE53D49420205C7D63B8C8B21A4B7403B/

Android.
When I last played and discovered I could sculpt the now disconnected ex-astari land, which prior to my flying rocks (at an angle) I could not sculpt. If I try and sculpt closer to the temple it still pops up to tell me no sculpting be that due to 'temple' or astari land. At that point I still had an astari village untouched and had some astari wandering around that village which was just prior to a festival, in that village I had no sculpting or settling.
Now just as the festival was due I sent yet another rock their direction and I had lots of little astari torch men. Not sure if I've zapped them all but after the festival timer got back to 23 hours and 50 minutes or so that land was no longer full of burning astari, just the settlement a couple of fields and the temple, but they appeared to be untouched by flame - trees on the outskirts still singed - but now the hall was empty and I collected the belief, a grabbed a crop from the field and find that across all these weyworld astari temples I have no info button and I presume no astari left. But since I got a google play update yesterday - might be unreleated, no idea what it had in it, I appeared to only be able to get my astari info button etc if I clicked on the astari in the happiness bar, not by moving to the villages and selecting the temples.

I've noticed that I could sculpt the Astari maze island, but didn't want to wreck it. Apart from that, everything else is untouchable. I'm curious to know what the massive block of sculpted land to the east is, but part of me thinks its yet another buried temple that I don't want to spend an 3 days unearthing.

Behind the maze village is a temple buried in the hills and mine-able land surrounding it that is all.

Why can I not set up new farms or get checst on atari land? The Astari population is at zero.,, but I cannot set up new farms there wihich is strictly inhibiting my progress.

Bug doesn't let you build on Astari land, they said they were aware of it but when it gets fix who is to say.

I did manage to build one farm on the edge of one of the weyworld villages but that appears to be the lot, in PC in that instance though on PC I cannot open the chests in astari land where I can in android.

How do you populate the maze? Just expand with beacons until you reach it. I could build there without any problems, but I know that my brother could not. If you have reached it but can't sculpt or build it's probably a bug.
