Over the next three weeks we’ll be working on the Following:
• Story system implementation The next update will introduce a story to Godus. Once the system is implemented you’ll be able to discover the story of Godus In an episodic manner.
• Story mode - Chapter 1 This update introduces the story of Godus with the first chapter taking place in Homeworld, but fear not you won’t need to start a new game. You’ll be able to play through the story regardless of your current position in Godus.
• Valentines Day theme As Valentines Day is around the corner we’ll also be working on the next theme for Godus and we’ll be designing some lovely gifts for your Followers and Astari.
• Clearing the critical bug backlog In addition to the story system implementation into Godus, our team of programmers will be going through the backlog of bugs and start clearing out some of the more critical bugs that are currently live in Godus.
For the next few months we’ll be focusing on the single player pc experience. We’ll be releasing more details of upcoming features and changes at the start of each new sprint, these sprints will roughly last between 2-4 weeks each. During the course of the next few sprints we’ll be planning and designing improvements for future PC features. As such we won’t be releasing a long-term roadmap at this moment of time.

So, it seems that we Godus PC dreamers can just look away and start exploring the wilds to find a God game with more real GODies (yup, intentionally misspelled) and less fake miracles... Sorry but that's how I, sort of a latecomer, see it =/. I hope at least 22Cans learn the lesson if they happen to get out of this mess.

A valentine theme is exactly what's always been missing in Populous.

Yay for technicalities - lets ignore the fact that the game is highly flawed and broken to the core and implement a story mode because that is one of the technical checkmarks to "What we need to fullfill to complete the kickstarter requirements."
At this point I could not care less about any form of story - since the core gameplay is so utterly boring and broken that I wouldn't bother with a story in the first place. Any other studio I'd say great - have a few guys work on the story while the rest work on expanding the game. With 22cans working on the story means that most other things are dropped because they lack the manpower. Especially now that the majority of the studio has been stripped off the project in favour of Peter's new fantasy project.
Suffice it to say, I suspect that we'll never see the core issues addressed and in true 22cans fashion they'll deliver on technicalities alone.

To be fair, FuriousMoo said they were starting with something small, since the first sprint was focused mainly on bug-fixes / cleanup, and they needed relatively low-hanging fruit to round out the sprint.
As far as whether we'll see the core issues addressed in the future... I know the people @ 22cans still working on Godus want to address them, but whether they'll be able to is another question.

I'm worried the story is being worked on because on of the priorities is to tick off as many kickstarter promises as possible. Story is a tricky one because you can claim to have a story that is very short and not very good and claim you've met your obligations. Lets see how it goes.

A valentine theme is exactly what's always been missing in Populous. I'd love to know the name of the person that suggested this. Surely somebody at 22Cans stood up and asked why. I presume the aim of it is to create the illusion of new content for mobile and to generate micro transactions.

I'm very curious how the story's gonna work, given that they're what, not even halfway through the Ages that are supposed to be in the complete game? (and for that matter, I'd always hoped that each new Age would shake up the mechanics for the game, and thus affect the player's "strategy", sorta like how farming does now (in theory))

As far as whether we'll see the core issues addressed in the future... I know the people @ 22cans still working on Godus want to address them, but whether they'll be able to is another question. They've been saying they want to do a lot of things. However throughout the development all they've been doing is fullfilling technicalities. I'm no lawyer - but if I was one I would put my money on the fact that they are trying to do as little as possible - but JUST enough to avoid problems. Most likely due to financial constraints, manpower constraints and time constraints. They simply do not have enough skilled hands to pull it off whether they want to or not. Which is why we've been seeing all these technicality elements and very little of the true spirit. The reality is, in all the time 22cans has been working on Godus, we've seen very little of those intentions that they want to make Godus into the game we expected when we read the Kickstarter pitch. Whether its a miscommunication on either (or both?) sides or whether its Peter taking advantage of the system - I'm not gonna point fingers. But I'm also not expecting them to deliver much more than mere technicalities - because thats what we've seen so far. And I'm gonna go off of what I've seen and what they have done so far. I'm letting their actions speak for themselves.
