I haven't played it. I must say that Sid Meier is one of my childhood heroes. But then, so was Peter Molyneux. I loved Sid Meier's games like Pirates!, Railroad Tycoon and Civilization, heck I still play them to this day. That said, the remake of Pirates! although graphically a vast improvement on the original was pretty much exactly the same as the original gameplay wise. Which leads me to conclude that Sid Meier does not have the vision and ingenuity anymore that I once thought he had. The game Railroads which was supposed to be a successor for Railroad Tycoon backs up this fact.
Since I have already lost one of my childhood heroes in a similar fashion (Peter Molyneux) I don't have the will to engage in activities that might lead to disillusionment in regard to such things. I mean, Sid Meier was a major part of my childhood somehow, and I would like to preserve that.

The reviews have been average... I've seen there are steam reviews as mixed for PC, but I don't trust App Store reviews. Was wondering if anyone had played it. Always best via recommendations!
